. . . . .
In the blink of an eye, two days passed by.
The results of the chunin exams were still up in the air, and Mizuki was starting to get impatient.
The senior command eventually came to the consensus that all of the graduates should be awake as it is announced, which gave those of them who were not unconscious an awkward free period where they had nothing to do.
Over the course of this time, Mizuki received some basic medical treatment, although the noticeable few injuries he sustained were all relatively minor.
A healing Jutsu and a couple of bandages later, he was out the door and all of his physical wounds gone.
However, he was still required to stay in bed for the most part, unfortunately, as he was suffering from chakra exhaustion.
Mizuki spent the last couple of days either in bed or at the hospital visiting his friends and loved ones.
However, The first major event that occurred after the exams was after he got home from the hospital when he heard a knocking on his door.
It was Shisui.
. . . . .
Apparently, it became a sort of open secret that Shisui had some sort of special treatment from the Hokage, with rumors going from him being the Hokage's adopted son to other even more bizarre ones.
However, as an avid viewer of the anime, Mizuki was instantly able to put together what happened, and so, he only needed to ask a single question.
Mizuki: "Hiruzen or Danzo?"
Shisui: "Hiruzen. I'm not stupid. Last place I'd want to be is with that paranoid psycho and his private army.."
Shisui: "So anyway, get back to telling me about how the exams went"
Mizuki: "Alright, Alright"
Mizuki retold the story of how the exams went down, obviously omitting some parts, such as telling the same white lie about Samui and so forth.
Mizuki: "So, you gonna join me in visiting the others in the hospital?"
Shisui: "You know it."
Mizuki: "I thought you would be packed with work with the upcoming war and all."
Shisui: "Hehe, believe me, we are. I'm burning my one day off this week on this."
. . . . .
And so, Mizuki spent the remainder of his first day visiting the hospital, keeping some of them company and bringing them all flowers.
In the day that had passed, both Guy and Obito had woken up, only being separated by a couple of hours.
The latter of whom, hardly seeming to be disappointed, as he was constantly accompanied by Rin, who acted as his personal nurse.
Although, Anko was unfortunately still unconscious. As was Idate, which gave Mizuki a sort of sadistic sense of accomplishment and joy.
The second day passed in a manner much resembling the first, as Mizuki was still forced to be in bed for some of the day, although nowhere near as bad as yesterday.
He spent most of the day chatting with Guy. As Mizuki thought it tactful to leave Obito and Rin to themselves, and Anko was still unconscious.
That is not to say that he did not visit her at all, however, as made a point to visit her for at least a couple of hours a day.
He even dropped in on Kakashi's room, mainly just to show goodwill, but also to try to subtly ingrain the ideas of comrades in his mind.
After all, even if he was a bit annoying right now, he would eventually become one of the greatest badasses to ever grace anime.
And if Mizuki could push that along a bit, all the better.
. . . . .
Mizuki awoke on day three and let loose a weak groan before going about his daily routine.
The boy went about warming up an instant ramen for himself, before showering and changing into a new outfit and beginning his walk to the hospital.
Unfortunately for Mizuki, he was currently under strict orders not to use chakra, as they wanted him to recover fully first.
In the upcoming war, every shinobi would count.
Especially some of the up-and-coming stars withing the village such as Mizuki.
Today, Guy and Obito both got discharged from the hospital, although they were still not back to a hundred percent yet.
However, both of the boys were lucky in that they each had people waiting for them.
Whilst Guy had his father, and Obito had some of the Uchiha elders, who had become parental figures to him over the past month, Anko had nobody.
Sure, she would still have everybody visiting her room and wishing her well, but there was nobody waiting for her when she needed to go back home.
Mizuki had a resolute gaze in his eyes as he thought about it.
He would be that person to her. For her.
However, Mizuki's thought process was interrupted by the sound of a slight groan as the person who Mizuki was visiting began to stir.
Anko opened her eyes slightly and sat up in bed, letting loose a large yawn, although quickly wincing as she felt pain jolt across her ribs.
Anko: {OUCH! What the hell? Where Am I? Why does it hurt so much- Oh right, Chunin exams.}
It was at this point, Anko started to look around the room, only to see Mizuki sitting on a chair to the left of her bed, a relieved smile adorning his face.
Mizuki: "Morning Anko, you feeling alright?"
She sighed before nodding slightly.
Anko: "Damn, he got me good, eh? How long have I been out for?"
Mizuki: "3 Days"
Anko: "3 DAYS!? THAT MEANS THAT THE EXAM ALREADY ENDED."
Mizuki: "Yup."
Anko: "Who was the winner?"
Mizuki: "You're looking at him"
Hearing those words, Anko paused for a second, before a slightly sad smile adorned her face.
Anko: "Congrats Mizuki!"
Mizuki sighed slightly seeing her expression.
It was perfectly natural for somebody to react like that after they had just received the beating of a lifetime.
Luckily for Mizuki, he had prepared just the thing to cheer her up.
Mizuki pulled a box out from underneath his chair before gently placing it on Anko's lap.
Mizuki: "The nurses said not to bring you anything, but still had to cheer you up somehow right?"
Hearing those words, Anko pulled off the lid of the box to reveal several rows of Dango.
A cheerful grin quickly replaced her former forced one as she began to tear the Dango to shreds, a Dango in each hand.
In no time at all, the Dango were all gone, with the box and remaining sticks quickly disposed of.
However, even though Anko seemed fine as she devoured the Dango, in reality, her thoughts were racing a mile a minute.
Her getting beaten in by Idate made her think more of the future.
If she was going to war in the near future, there was a good chance that she was gonna die.
And there was no way that she was gonna have regrets if that happens.
Still, though, that did not mean that she was any less embarrassed. As her face turned crimson and she faced Mizuki.
Anko: "Hey Mizuki, I was just gonna-"
Mizuki: "No"
Anko: "What"
Her heart started to speed up as she thought that her greatest fear was coming true.
Rejection.
He would leave her too, and she would be left with nobody yet again.
After all, who would want to be with a tomboy like her?
Mizuki: "No, you can't be the one to ask. I have to ask you, I'm the guy here after all."
Anko: "Eh?
Hearing those words, Anko burst into laughter, as she realized that all of her previous worries were for naught.
Anko: "What do you mean? What do you think I was gonna ask?"
Mizuki: "Eh? I thought you wanted to ask me-"
Anko: "I wasn't asking."
Saying those words, Anko closed the distance between them before giving a quick peck on his cheek.
Anko: "Ok. So..where we gonna go?"
Mizuki: "I love Dango as much as you do, but I'm thinking Ichiraku. It's just a classic."
Anko: "Fair enough. Anyways, can you tell me more about the fight " between you and Idate? How did you beat him?
Hearing those words, Mizuki had a slight smirk on his face as he told her the story, the two of them trapped in their own little world.
And all whilst this was happening, he reached over and grabbed her hand, placing it in his like it was the most natural thing in the world.
IM BACK BITCHES.
Damn, talk about coming back with a bang though.
Some of you guys might find it strange that they are already together even though they are still pretty young (13 and 12).
However, at least in my opinion, if they are gonna be running around murdering people, they can have a little romance.
Naturally, though, there won't be an R18 chapter until post-war or end of war, bc I'm not pedo.
1/Chapter per day from now on.
