He ONLY got knocked out?! I would be genuinely surprised if he could move after what you did to him! I don't even know if he's going to wake up anytime soon! My heart clenched as I saw Verna's face. He looked like he was missing his soul.
"That's alright. His heart is still beating, so I have no worries about his well-being. Albeit Bryan looks like he's got the wind punched out of him, I'm sure he'll be fine. So I'll go on ahead to the Old Chapel to place him down and join you two. I've got some of Clement's cooking in that basket."
"Go and enjoy them. We have plenty to go around. But, don't fret; the food that Clement cooks is safe for human consumption. And they are good for replenishing Elemental Energy. But, do help yourselves to the lunch first; I'll be back in ten Tocks," said Mavislin.
The Valkyrie stretched out her beautiful, white wings and took flight. I could only look at them for a mere second before she bolted out of the area at extreme speeds. Z had to hold onto the basket when that Valkyrie took off so it wouldn't fly off with her.
Much to my happiness, Mavislin had brought a picnic basket filled with food. By the by, I have never seen such a bountiful meal in my life! There was so much to choose from! I've got broccoli, spinach, and mushrooms on one side of the basket, all of which were sauteed.
And the other side of the basket was the meats, cut-up strips of steak, baked chicken drumsticks, and chargrilled pork racks. The aroma of the feast was starting to make my stomach rumble. After taking out the side dishes, I found a mat and proceeded to lay it down onto the grassy floor.
Man, the Mage that recovered the place indeed has got talent. I can't believe that the site had a massive hold in the ground moments before. Now, the area looks brand new and lively. Z got the last item out of the basket, a big bowl filled with white, fluffy rice. Oh. My. Heavens.
I was wondering if I had died back in the battle and was in heaven to see this incredible array of food. Z smiled at me as my eyes were sparkling as my mouth was drooling. The older man shook his head and snapped his fingers. A beautiful bowl of ice appeared on his palm with utensils inside.
The Galaxian Mage passed the bowl to me and made himself another set. I looked at with curious eyes and confusion.
"What? I'm not an animal, so I have to use the proper instruments for eating. I can't say the same for Mavislin, so you better take what meats you like before she inhales the meat section. I'm sure that you need some cutlery and a bowl to have your lunch, so I got you some."
Inhales the meat section?! What are the blazes is that supposed to mean?! Do Valkyries eat with their lungs? Z laughed at my look of shock and terror.
"I say 'inhale' because Mavislin has got bad table manners at the meal table. And I watched her grow up. In that household with a hungry Valkyrie, if you didn't eat fast enough..."
"You didn't eat at all?" I finished, looking at Z.
The Galaxian Mage was caught off guard at what I had blurted out. I guess the guy wasn't expecting me to finish his sentence that randomly. But I've known about a sitcom with the same context and words in my previous realm.
"Well, that's right. That Valkyrie's hunger is on another level of gluttony. I wouldn't be surprised if she ate dried pasta because she was too hungry during a mission. Unlike most of us, the poor girl can't cook, and we don't allow it either," explained Z, shaking his head.
"Why? Will her cooking burn the place down? I thought you could help extinguish that using your powers?" I quizzed.
"There's such a thing called cooking, and then there whatever the hell Mavislin tried to do that kitchen of ours. The moment that Valkyrie tries to do cooking, the Old Chapel instantly sends her back to her room with a new plushy. I don't want anything to happen to the place I call home."
For some weird reason, I felt a chill up my spine as Z spat out those last words. It reminded me of someone I used to know in my previous life, but who was it? Also, the Words Of the World wasn't talking to me for the past hour, and I was beginning to worry.
But first, my lunch... I looked at my impossible dinnerware and then at Z.
