Prelude: Evening in the South-West

The wind blew against his back as he stood watching the people pass by. Counting them, he determined there were ten, all carrying some sort of close quarters weapon and heaving large bags on their backs. As they passed by his hiding place he could see the faces of most of them, he noted there was almost no one wearing any armor, nor padded clothes for that matter. He grasped the handle of his sword before releasing it after a bit of hesitation. As he saw the group move on, he crept around behind some barrels and watched the men continue onward until they reached the end of the street. He followed them as they passed through the south-western gate, making sure none of them grew suspicious of him. After passing the gate the man would make his way behind some houses and would proceed to tag along from a distance.

A small smirk formed across his face as he saw them pass a certain point, distinguished by a marking in the wooden wall forming a circle with a five leaf clover inside.

Seeing this, the man put his hand back on his swords handle, and the other hand on one of the thick throwing knives on his belt. He slowly crept out of his hiding spot to meet them from behind, while an other shadowy figure entered the scene from behind a building not far ahead, and in one move they would throw their knives towards their targets.

The first target was taken down with ease with the first knife embedded deeply into its chest, and the other knife landing cleanly in one of the targets skulls. Surprised and shocked, the group would form a circle around each other, facing the two men.

There was no time to talk. The duo would grab two more knives each, and before any of the men could move out of the way they found four flat on the ground with knives protruding from different areas of their corpses.

Four more left, surely an easy contest for the assassins. Leaving no time for their enemies to compose themselves, they rushed forward, longswords in hand. The agile blades would dance around the air, quickly defeating two of the remaining men without giving them any chance to attempt a counter attack. The remaining ones would attempt to flee the field, however they underestimated the length of the swords. One heavy swing from each of them would crush through the collar bones of the ones fleeing, leaving them squirming on the ground.

The battle was over, and the bystanders who were watching out of curiosity would go back to their usual activities. The duo of assassins would collect some select goods from the bags and leave the area.
