Elas had trained under General Vulen ever since he had joined the Yiven Kingdom's knightage. As they traversed back to Cadirade Kingdom from Drethia Kingdom they had to pass through terrain that lead through Theapan Kingdom. They were all on alert for any signs of enemies approaching as they moved. Though the knights were not as adept to secrecy when moving as pirates were.
It was not until they were closing in on Vorbuk's location that they started to sense someone else nearby. Elas was the first one to become aware of another presence in the forest ahead. A cold chill down his back as he felt something was closing in on them.
Grrr.. Grrrrr...
He could hear the sounds of a beast growling from within the shadows of the forest surrounding them. The sound was feint as if haunting him. It seemed almost familiar in some way causing him to think back on where he had heard that growl once before.
That sounds like... Elas recalled his memories of that beast clearly in the back of his mind.
Halting in his steps, Elas called out to the knights around him, "Careful! The shadow beast is hiding among the forest around us!"
"Ah-!" "Argh!" The sounds of knights being picked off one by one could be heard.
Vorbuk was traveling among the shadows around their group. Leaping into the shadows he could move covertly. The knights were unable to find his location. It was only when he emerged from beneath the knights one by one that they would shout in fear.
The wolf's front paws would slam into their chest. His fangs slicing open their throats like a knife. As his body continued to leap over and passed by the fallen knight he would descent. Sinking back into the shadows from the ground. He was aware this method was cruel and made him seem more like a nightmare to the knights.
Thump! Arrrooo!
Vorbuk yelped at a sudden sharp pain in his side. His actions had become predicted by an archer. An arrow being shot in his direction struck the beast in his shoulder. It was an unpleasant feeling as the arrow stuck in him bled warm blood down his side.
"Master!" Ashley panicked as he rushed over at the first sign of his master being injured by an arrow. Using his scythe he cut through a few more as they flew in their direction. His movements were quick and precise. Stopping them from harming the beast.
The wolf saw Ashley's' concern and growled in order to show that he still had fighting spirit. He did not care about his injury at an important time like this. They needed to get rid of the knights before they could make it out of the area.
"Master," Ashley could not understand Vorbuk in his wolf form, he replied, "I have no idea what your saying in this situation. I will help you."
You were suppose to go with Prince Leo! The wolf wanted to shout but he knew the vampire would not understand him right now.
Ashley responded, perhaps he sensed how disgruntled his master was, "The prince is with Sebastian, master."
Isn't that like tossing oil on a fire?
No... That might actually be safer then Ashley being with Prince Leo.
BOOOOMMMM!
A large explosion shook the ground up ahead. Flames burst from the ground and began to spread out. They were being controlled by Prince Leo in order to make a barrier out of his flames. They wanted to cut off the path the knights were using.
Sounds of the pirates shouting profanity could be heard by Vorbuk. They clearly liked to talk a lot even in the middle of a fight. Knights usually kept a calm demeanor when fighting. Pirates on the other hand were more free range with their behavior.
Where is Captain Cory? The wolf thought as he tried to locate the pirate captain with his eyes. Instead the first thing he saw was the archer that struck him with the arrow.
That elf girl is from... Vorbuk recognized the female, elf, archer that he had once helped Prince Leo capture. If it was her it meant that there were a few elves from Yiven hiding among the Cadirade knightage around them right now.
Vorbuk ran towards the direction of the elf girl, Allisa. Growling deeply, the wolf bared his fangs while he moved. His paws beat roughly against the ground as he raced against time. The archer was pulling back the string of her bow once again. A metal tipped arrow reflecting light from the sky off its tip.
From his side he could sense the vampire following. Ashley's speed quickly caught up with the wolf's. The arrow was released from the bow and sped through the air towards the beast.
Shhhhhh! Clang!
The arrow went straight towards the beast only to be stopped by the vampire's blood scythe. The scythe's blade struck against the metal tip of the arrow while it was speeding through the air. It caused the arrow's direction to be shifted as the scythe did not cut through it. Striking it had shot it further into the air like a small rocket.
As the arrow came down it struck itself into the ground. Startling Prince Leo who was standing inches from where the arrow landed. He had not expected a random arrow to rain down from above. Flinching he glanced around and found where Ashley was. His brow throbbed.
Allisa was startled as she saw her arrow struck aside by the vampire. Both of them were closing in on her as she attempted to pull back another arrow. Was it a race to see who could get to her first? She felt flustered.
Her hand was grabbed from behind as Ashley sped behind her. The vampire's grip squeezed tighter as he muttered quietly, "Fire another arrow. I dare you."
Allisa could see the blood lust in the vampire's eyes as Ashley spoke to her. It gave her the chills. Ashley wanted to kill her instantly but he knew that she could be useful to his master.
The wolf was standing in front of the elf girl while growling deeply. With a glance up at Ashley he knew the vampire was keeping the girl alive as a captive. She would be useful for information if they kept her alive. The pirates were running wild and killing off every knight they could. Only a few were able to put up a real fight against the savage way the pirates fought. The prince's fire also had the knights cut off from escaping.
Allisa bit her lip as she knew it would be difficult for someone of her level to fight against the vampire and beast together. They were both above her so she could only call for help, "Elas!"
"Allisa?" Elas's voice called back to her from among the fighting.
Ashley and Vorbuk both glanced in the direction of the voice. They could see Elas fighting with his sword among the crowd. He was holding his own well against the pirates. Cutting down a pirate he turned and rushed in the direction of the wolf. Unable to abandon the elf girl.
