Night, Night, Teddy Bear

Matthew looked around his surrounding environment that is full of trees and bushes everywhere. And although there is nothing special about his nearby surroundings, in a place where there are a lot of trees, Matthew could always use his most basic trick when ambushing his opponent.

Matthew then looked to the ground and searched for some twigs before grabbing them slowly by using his tongue sticky property. After that, with careful steps to avoid making any sort of unnecessary noises, Matthew started making his way onto a tree not too far from the bear's hole that he is still able to see the bear using his heat sensor and started climbing up.

Matthew was so careful and afraid to wake the bear up that he even climbed up slowly despite his urge to just launch himself up to one of the tree branches by using his incredible leg strength and spectacular agility with the 4 monkey limbs. Matthew continued on climbing before he suddenly stopped before he reached the tree branch.

Matthew had just realized that the scanner's and the heat sensor's effective range is only 10 meters long, Matthew has to stop midway through climbing the tree because even the lowest tree branches are 10 meters above the ground, and his current position is the maximum range that the heat sensor is still able to project the red shade of the bear to Matthew's eyes.

If Matthew went up even further, then he couldn't observe the bear's movements and although his plan would still work, it would add more uncertainties to it which Matthew didn't want since this time, his opponent is even more dangerous than the crocodiles.

At the time when Matthew fought the crocodiles, the crocodiles were above the ground and outside the waters, which is exceptionally disadvantageous for them since their agility could only shine when they are in the water. And when they are above the ground, the only thing scary about them is their big bodies and sudden jaw snapping, their other skills are limited because they are out of the water.

But this time is different, the bear is a bonafide land animal, its body is even bigger than the biggest crocodile that Matthew fought last time. And although the bear didn't have a jaw as big as Matthew's body, Matthew could even see for himself by looking at the crooked tree trunk, and that's exactly what would happen to him if the bear got a clean hit to his body using its claws.

Matthew didn't even doubt that he would probably be squashed to death without the bear having to do anything if the bear accidentally walked over Matthew or sat on top of him. And hence, his overcaution is justified.

After hugging the tree trunk with his legs and one of his hands to maintain his current position, Matthew grabbed one of the twigs from his tongue, then he hit it hard to the tree trunk until it snapped in two and caused a loud noise from both of the snapping and the impact between the twig and the tree trunk when Matthew hit them together.

Matthew then focused all of his attention onto the red shade under the ground, to see if it would give a reaction to the loud noise from near its nest.

Matthew locked his eyes to the bear so that he could notice even the slightest changes to the bear's movements. Although the red shade wasn't that detailed, and Matthew could only see a silhouette-like at best right now, it is possible to notice the subtle movements of the red shade so Matthew didn't leave the bear out of his sight even for a blink.

And when Matthew noticed the silhouette slowly stood up from its laying down position, Matthew grabbed another twig and repeated the same action, breaking the twig in two and causing another loud noise.

The bear was woken up by the sharp noise that he heard earlier, but the bear didn't go on full alert mode yet because after leaving long in the forest, hearing weird noises is an ordinary everyday occurrence. But he still needed to check it to see what made that noise near his nest early in the morning and woken him up by a slight surprise.

So the bear slowly brought his body up and lazily moved towards the entrance of his nest. But when he was in the middle of his lazy walk, the bear heard the same crisp noise coming from the same place. And the bear realized that whatever it is that caused that noise, it must have been doing it on purpose since it happened twice and it's from the same source.

Matthew, who observed the bear closely, noticed the bear brought up its pace and walked faster to get out of its nest, and started moving in Matthew's direction.

As the bear got closer and closer, Matthew dropped the remaining twigs from his tongue to the ground and Matthew also continued climbing up the tree a little bit more so he would get a higher chance to successfully jump off the tree and mount on top of the bear's body when the bear stood near the tree he was staying on.

The bear of course noticed the twigs that Matthew had suddenly dropped off from his tongue to the ground below because the moment the twigs leave his tongue, it totally lost the invisibility and the bear who is only about 10 meters away from Matthew's location, could clearly see a few twigs fell out from above the tree.

The bear looked up the tree to see what had caused the twigs to fall off, although it's not a rare occurrence where dried twigs will fall off the tree, the bear is still cautious especially after the 2 consecutive loud noises that came from the direction of the tree.

But even after looking closely from the bottom of the tree up to the top, the bear didn't find any creature and he didn't even find anything weird to be mentioned. So he decided to check the twigs that had fallen off to the ground near the tree to see if there was anything different about them.

When the bear was walking towards the tree, he also noticed some broken twigs a little distance away from the tree. Although there were several broken twigs, the bear noticed that there were 4 parts of broken twigs that had somehow snapped far away from each other.

When twigs snapped from being stepped on, even though they break off from each other, they will still be near each other. But the bear noticed 4 parts that are too far away from each other as if they are broken not from being accidentally stepped on, but because they are purposely broken.

But the bear didn't pay too much attention to it because all sorts of things could happen in the forest and he just quietly took note of them. The bear then finally arrived at the base of the tree and looked at the fallen twigs that he saw earlier.

At first, he didn't see anything different, but after he tried picking one of them up, the bear felt a slightly wet feeling from the twig. When he looked closely, he could see a colorless substance sticking to the twig.

The bear then got up to its feet and looked up once again at the tree and this time, he scanned the tree meticulously just in case he missed anything, but even after looking back and forth, up and down the tree, he still failed to see any anomaly from the tree.

Still curious, the bear decided to pick up the rest of the twigs to see if the rest of the twigs also had the colorless substance sticking to them. But when the bear lowered its body and went down to pick up the twigs, he suddenly felt something had dropped onto his body, before a slight stinging pain could be felt in 5 spots on top of his body, 4 on his back and the last one near his neck.

Matthew was watching very closely to each of the bear's movements, he even noticed that the bear looked closely to the broken twigs that he used to hit the tree trunk earlier, but Matthew stayed silent as a dead person and just waited for the right moment to strike.

'Please come here, please come closer here, come on big bear you can do it, you must be curious about the twigs I dropped earlier right? Come here, come on, I know you want to see the twigs up close and personal.'

The bear then moved in closer and closer after it finally arrived at the base of the tree, Matthew then carefully waited for the exact perfect moment, and when the bear was finally lowered its body to grab the other twigs, Matthew jumped off the tree and positioned his body so he will land directly on top of the bear's back.

Because the bear's large body and the distance between them are only a few meters apart, Matthew's landing accuracy was on point and he safely landed on top of the bear's back. Matthew then gripped the bear's back tightly using the claws on his 4 limbs before finally biting the area closest to the bear's neck and injecting all of his venoms into the bear's body.

'Night, night, teddy bear!' Matthew said aloud in his head.
