Michael knocked on Lucia's door. On the other side, she exhaled and looked down at herself. She was ready. At least as ready as she could ever be. She put her hand on the doorknob and opened the door to her fiancé. The look on his face was worth everything she had put into looking the way she did.
She smiled at him as he mouthed, "Wow."
He liked the dress. That was good.
"You look beautiful," he said finally.
She grinned, "So do you."
And he did. No man could look as handsome as he did in his royal uniform. His outfit did make butterflies take flight in her tummy, but she tried not to let him see that.
"Shall we?" he asked.
She nodded hesitantly, and he took a glove off his hand before offering it to her. She slid her palm into his and stepped out of her apartment and into the hallway. She shut the door behind her, and the pair made their way down the hall.
