Link did not have much time left before his third year started. But, he couldn't care less. Why would he? He has a pretty good excuse for his absence, and Link wouldn't let it pass.
He broke the emblem, and the Academy failed to appear. If he was questioned or threatened with expulsion for his absence, he could throw this whole thing right back at them.
He told Samuel about his objective so he was sure his family was already informed by him. He insisted on coming as well, but Link barely managed to convince him not to. Using that he was faster as an excuse. This however, got an odd reaction from Samuel, as after hearing it, he thought for a bit and agreed straight away. Although he looked sad when he left.
Link now was heading in a different direction, leaving Gilda City behind. He thought that he had nothing left to do in the Second Continent, but with Ora, something new came up.
Ora's consciousness was broken, and his new and alluring quest made that his top priority. But of course, something with a reward like that, would not have been that easy.
He unfortunately discovered that the Second Continent was not the only place in which the fragments ended up in.
Link already found one of them, and now he was heading for the second one. Ora knew this Continent like the back of her hands, earning Link a freebie. She knew where the other fragment was located and that was where they were heading at the moment.
Unfortunately for Link, that was the second and last fragment that was in this Continent. He was flying there with all hes got, attempting to grab it before leaving this place.
Unlike with the first one, which was owned by a whole City. The second fragment was located on a giant X mark Ora drew on his Map Tab, in a desolate area. No Cities or Villages were nearby. This reassured Link, as he will not have to steal it from nobody. The last thing he needed was a conflict with a City.
The Map had never been so colored. Ora transferred her knowledge of this place to it, unlocking every detail.
Mountains and hills with numerous trees covered Link's sight as he made his way towards the X mark. The area was completely empty, not even Magical Beasts were anywhere around. The birds avoided flying over it while the wild life was eerily quiet.
Link landed on top of a small hill, looking over the place. His Psight scanned but nothing of notice came up. He jumped down and started walking towards the spot.
From the image in the map, the area where the X mark was located was surrounded by rocks with a mountain a few meters away.
The sun was starting to depart, as the yellow glow turned into a soothing orange color. Link stood on top of the X, but when he looked around he saw nothing.
"Are you sure it's here?" Link asked.
[Yes master. 100% sure]
Link opened his Map again, and confirmed that he made no mistakes, so the next thing he did was look down.
"Is there a cave somewhere that leads down?" He thought as he lifted his leg and slammed it into the ground. The dirt easily flew in the air as a pit was created. Link proceeded to do the same while covering his body with Mana, protecting him from getting dirt on his clothing.
2 Hours passed and Link now was in what looked like a Well. He repeated the same action as he stored the dirt inside his Inventory. It made things easier and faster.
"This is going nowhere" Link said "I don't know how deep it is, this might take longer than needed" He said while flying out of the hole. He opened his Inventory and threw the dirt out to the side, emptying it.
<Let's look around for a Cave then>
Link nodded and started making his way to the mountain. If there was an entrance to a cave anywhere, then the mountain would be it. He flew towards it and flew around the whole thing, but he couldn't find a single entrance.
This of course, made Link take a deep breath, as he now knew what was awaiting him.
"I'm gonna have to search the area!" He said with another sigh.
He flew with his Psight on. He did not miss a single thing as his speed created mini air currents.
…
3 Hours passed, which was surprisingly faster than Link thought considering the size of the place. He needed to be thorough, and the entrance could have been located thousands of Kilometres away.
"I finally found it!" He stretched, taking out a bottle of water.
The entrance was not thousands of kilometres away, but it was located in another spot, completely hidden. If it was not for Link's Psight, he was sure that not noticing it wouldn't have been that surprising.
The entrance, instead of a cave entrance like Link thought, was more like a rabbit hole, as it led to complete darkness. Bushes and trees appeared to be trying to hide it on purpose, and that made Link a bit more wary. A giant tree sat, with the hole right under it. Link used all his stealth skills, with Shadow Dive as he became one with the darkness.
Like a fish, swimming underneath water, Link headed inside, his presence completely absent.
The hole, to Link's surprise and utter horror, led to multiple pathways, which he now had the honor of exploring. Even though Link did not think that way.
"Shadow Clone!" Link muttered. A figure appeared next to him. Link gestured to it and it ran towards the first pathway.
"I can stay in the Shadows while i send my Clone to test them for me" Link thought "This makes me avoid potential traps and i get to rest a little"
The Clone had a connection with it's master, so whatever it saw or felt, Link also did. This made it feel like he was watching Tv or playing a video game as the Clone navigated its way. There were multiple twists and turns, but after nearly an hour, Link hit a dead end.
"Damn it. I knew it was going to be like this!" He muttered. unsummoning the clone on the other side and summoning a new one right next to him. "Onto the next!"
This tactic was slow, but effective. Hours passed, and each time Link kept hitting dead ends.
He even tried punching through, trying to make a hole to the next path from where he was, but to his surprise, the dirt-like substance was hard, leaving barely a dent on it even with Link's power.
The Clone shared everything with Link, including his skills and stats. He avoided using Heavy Strike in fear of the whole place collapsing on him, but he didn't hold back, and still no results.
"Next!" Link spoke, ordering his Clone.
He was now at the 8th opening, making his way around it as he hummed a melody.
Hmm Hm Mmm Hmmm!
"Is this it?" Link questioned. He had been going onto this path for a while now, even beating all of the combined time he took in the rest. He did not reach an ending, but that was what made him think he found it.
"I think this is it!" He spoke, jumping out of the Shadows as he entered the 8th pathway and started running, making his way around the now familiar path.
His Clone was ahead of him and he did not wish to unsummon it. It still needed to make sure there were no traps and that it led somewhere. So Link and the Clone kept running inside.
Link was bathed in Darkness. If not for his Evolution, he would have had to use a form of light.
Suddenly, Link's footsteps slowed as an idea passed by, making him become slightly worried.
"What dug this?" He frowned. "If it's a Beast, i can't fight it here, or i'll be dead in no time" This thought made Link jump inside the Shadow again, traveling inside. It was slower than when he ran on foot, but he felt safer.
