On the grassy ground, Aomori suddenly opened his eyes. He pushed himself up from the ground with his right hand and shot up over 20 meters high. When he landed, a look of confusion crossed his face: "Is this the dungeon? And my strength feels off, much stronger than before."
Looking around, he saw nothing but tall, straight trees and knee-high grass. Taking a deep breath, he smelled the scent of fresh grass filling the air.
There was some dirt residue on his fingers, so Aomori put it in his mouth and tasted it.
"Taste just like soil!"
It was the familiar taste of soil. Was this the real world?
After confirming there were no enemies nearby, Aomori found a large tree to lean against and began to assess his situation.
He was uninjured, but the special combat suit he had been wearing had been replaced with a black training suit, and he now had rough animal skin pants, making him look extremely peculiar. Furthermore, the carefully prepared large package had disappeared without a trace.
This was the worst-case scenario Aomori had imagined. Everything from the One Punch Man world had vanished, and only he and items produced by the system remained in the dungeon.
Aomori didn't care about his appearance at all. After a few seconds of contemplation, he opened the system log, which recorded the system's prompts after he had passed out:
[Ding! Initiating the search for a suitable dungeon, searching in progress.]
[Ding! A suitable dungeon has been found. World code: JL1024. Initiating world anchor projection. World anchor projection complete. The world has been successfully marked, initiating transfer.]
[Ding! Transfer successful. Initiating retrieval of world laws. World law retrieval successful. Initiating synchronization.]
[Ding! Synchronization successful. Player Aomori has gained the Newbie Dungeon Bonus (Normal Human Constitution Bonus): Physique +20, All Resistance +99.99%, Combat Fatal Damage Reduction +99.99%, effective only in the current dungeon.]
[Ding! The system has detected the existence of a new power system in the current world. Pet function activated. Players are encouraged to explore this new feature.]
"Phew." Aomori let out a sigh of relief and rubbed his temples.
In many ways, this was terrifying. The world code JL1024 meant there were at least thousands of similar worlds, right? No, perhaps the system was deliberately misleading him.
There were too few clues, and overthinking was pointless. Aomori quickly pushed it out of his mind and refocused on the system.
His three-dimensional attributes had indeed changed to [Physique 43 (23), Energy 15, Spirit 18].
He clenched his fist, and the significant increase in physique made him feel much stronger. He should be able to punch a bear to death now.
At the same time, a new option, "Pets" appeared on the main page. Aomori was about to explore this new feature when he suddenly heard rustling sounds from the grass behind him. He silently stood up, and a plain sword appeared in his hand.
He was ready to unleash a thunderous attack when a large green bug with Y-shaped red antennae on its head emerged from the grass, revealing a human-like expression of shock as it shivered in front of Aomori.
(Д)!
The large bug showed a human-like expression of fear as it trembled under Aomori's cold gaze.
A green caterpillar?
With his extraordinary memory, Aomori easily identified the creature in front of him that matched the description.
So, this dungeon world was the world of Pokémon?
[Ding! Dungeon quest initiated:]
[Main Quest 1/3: Super Rookie]
[Quest Description: You can't just carry a Pikachu on your shoulder and wrestle an Onix. What kind of trainer are you? Brave young one, go into battle and prove that you're a super rookie!]
[1) Defeat 10 Grass-type, 10 Bug-type, and 10 Flying-type Pokémon ☆ within 20 days.]
[2) Defeat 30 Grass-type, 30 Bug-type, and 30 Flying-type Pokémon ☆☆ within 15 days.]
[3) Defeat 50 Grass-type, 50 Bug-type, and 50 Flying-type Pokémon ☆☆☆ within 10 days.]
Completing the quest under different conditions would yield a different number of ☆, with every 3 ☆ granting a treasure chest. The final 9 ☆ chest was the most valuable.
So, it was simple and clear.
Perhaps because this was a newbie dungeon, these tasks seemed manageable with the relaxed time limits. But Aomori wouldn't take them lightly; he would give it his all.
"What do you think, Caterpie?" Aomori stopped the green caterpillar from trying to escape and said seriously, "No, I should call you the Lord of the Sky, Rayquaza Hatchling. Let's start our first battle in this dungeon world!"
The green caterpillar: "Σ(°△°|||)!"
'Concentrate! Thunder Breathing, First Form: Thunderclap and Flash Lightning!'
Aomori activated the Thunder Breathing technique, and arcs of electricity surrounded him, making him appear like the Thunder God himself. With a merciless swing, he slashed at the green caterpillar.
With a deafening roar, the green caterpillar collapsed into a deep pit, its eyes spiraling.
[Ding! Congratulations to Player Aomori for defeating the green caterpillar, gaining 11 experience points and 1 point.]
Indeed, you could gain experience and points without actually killing them, or perhaps they couldn't be killed at all.
Aomori squatted down and examined the green caterpillar. Despite receiving his full-force attack, it only had minor surface burns and had passed out.
Is this all the power I have? It might not even be as strong as a Pikachu's Thunderbolt.
'Secondary Healing Art.'
A holy light fell upon the green caterpillar, and its injuries miraculously healed.
Did the healing effect get stronger?
The green caterpillar, now awake again, shook its tiny head. Without waiting for a system prompt, Aomori swiftly struck it down once more. The unfortunate green caterpillar fell into a mosquito coil-like slumber.
The green caterpillar: "???" There was no system prompt, and you couldn't gain experience points repeatedly in a short period.
Aomori didn't spare the green caterpillar and tied it up with some resilient wild grass, leaving it on the ground.
He clapped his hands to get rid of the dust and continued to explore this Pokémon forest.
