First Day on the Job

Ming Na was in the family car listening to music as she was getting driven to work with her eyes closed. With a slight smile on her face, she was in a very good mood to start her first day at the company. She was mainly looking forward to venturing into a new world that she never tried before in her past life. Especially after the four days, it took to convince her grandfather to let her work at the company while Ming Zhu was still employed.

Ming Estate (Flashback)

It was a bright morning on Saturday and Elder Ming was in the garden enjoy a nice cup of tea while listening to some classical music. Usually, Ming Na would leave her grandfather to the peace of his tea time but she had plans that needed to be put into actions. Knocking on the patio door, Ming Na slowly walked over to Elder Ming, less not to surprise him. Seeing his granddaughter, Elder Ming put his tea down and motioned her over with a smile.

"My dear child, what can I do for you?" Elder Ming asked.

With documents in hand, Ming Na took a deep breath and sat across from Elder Ming, "Grandfather, I want to work for the family company."

Hearing Ming Na, Elder Ming instantly frowned, "Ming Na, I don't think that's a good idea."

"I know you're worried but I believe it's time I do my part for the company that grandmother wished for me to inherited."

"You might feel that way now but what about later? Ming Zhu is still working there and you guys might cross, how would you handle that?

Smiling at the question that she expected him to say, Ming Na handed over the documents in her hand, "With that in mind, I decided I want to work in research and development."

Confused, Elder Ming looked over at the documents and saw a detailed plan on how to expand the R&D department. "Dear Na, you certainly are your father's child. Just as creative when he was your age."

"Both my grandmother and father loved making sweets that would make people happy, and I wish to do the same. Also, it's a guaranteed way I won't cross path with Ming Zhu since I'll be working in a separate building."

Elder Ming could not say a word against his granddaughter's logic and nodded his head in agreement. Maybe with a new project, she could start a new chapter in her life and forget about the heartache that came with the betrayal.

"Very well, I'll allow you to start working at the company."

Ming Na jumped up and gave her grandfather a huge hug, "Thank you!" Pulling back, "Grandfather, there is one more thing..."

Ming Sweet's Warehouse (Monday)

Arriving at the warehouse, Ming Na got out of the car and sent the driver away and walked in with a smile. The warehouse was completely different than the company mainly because of the different groups that shared the building. Not only did the R&D department use it, but product approval and design.

This was mainly because of her father's influences, he believed that when creating a new product it's only natural to have product approve close by to approve. Also, the design team was there to asked the R&D department about what they wanted to show when they were making new products. The three groups were closer than any of the other departments but even when they disagreed the still created wonderful things for the company.

Ming Na reported to her department with a happy temperament, mainly because of her second favor from her grandfather. She could have been like Ming Zhu and used the family connections to get a higher position but she asked to have her identity be kept a secret.

To Ming Na, others would act differently when it comes to those of different social or power levels, and it would not provide a good work environment. No one would expect for the heiress of the company to choose to work in the warehouse than the company building creating new sweets.

For Ming Na's plans to all come together, she needs a foothold and image that would be different from her cousin. In her past life, Ming Zhu was called the Sweet's princess and the face of the company, so Ming Na decided to become the queen. Unlike her cousin Ming Na has a rare treasure, the recipe book passes through generations of the Ming family.

Her grandmother told her about it on her deathbed when they were alone, even Elder Ming has no idea about this special book. Ming Na cared about it in her past life but in this new one, it's already turning out to be a great find.

Seeing a chubby guy in a lab coat and white hat walking over, Ming Na put on a sweet smile, ready to start her day. Never knowing that today was the true start when she changed the course of her destiny and the world of desserts.
