A New Skill
Kaito stabbed the first Scorpion who entered his apartment.
He stabbed him in the chest, in the heart, in the life.
He killed him.
He felt a surge of adrenaline and pain. He felt a surge of satisfaction and guilt. He felt a surge of power and fear.
He felt something.
He saw a message on his screen. It said:
"Congratulations! You have killed a Scorpion. You have gained 10 XP and 1 gold."
He saw his XP bar increase slightly. He saw his gold amount increase slightly. He saw his level remain the same.
He was still level 1.
He didn't have time to think. He didn't have time to celebrate. He didn't have time to do anything.
He had to fight, survive, and most definitely live
He saw another Scorpion enter his apartment. He saw him holding a baseball bat. He saw him swinging it at his head.
He dodged the bat and slashed the Scorpion's arm, leg and throat in the process
He dodged and slashed and killed.
He felt another surge of adrenaline. But He felt another surge of guilt and felt another surge of fear.
He felt something.
He saw another message on his screen. It said:

He was still level 1.
He didn't know what was going on.
But he felt something. He felt curious and intrigued. He felt hopeful and excited.
He felt something.
He wanted to see what he could do.
He heard more Scorpions enter his apartment. He heard them shouting and cursing. He heard them looking for him and wanting to kill him.
They were angry and vengeful.
Their friends had just been killed by someone whom they had thought was just a nobody.
Kaito hid behind a couch and waited for them. He hid behind a couch and planned for them. He hid behind a couch and prepared for them.
He prepared to fight.
But mostly he was thinking how he would survive this… He just came to this new world and already he is fighting.
Thoughts occupied his mind when one of the scorpions threw a knife as it deflected and hit Kaito.
He felt a cold metal blade pierce through his chest.
his blood spurt out of his wound.
He felt his life fade away.
He felt nothing.
He saw a message on his screen. It said:
"Game Over. You have died. Do you want to restart from the last checkpoint?"
He saw a button that said:
"Yes/No"
He was confused and angry. He didn't know what to think or say. He didn't know what to do.
He didn't know what was going on.
But he remembered something. He remembered something that Orion told him before he entered the portal. He recalled something that changed everything.
He remembered Orion.
He remembered everything that orion said to him. He remembered the explosion, the offer, the system, the goal. He remembered the portal, the new dimension, the new life.
Orion told him:
"Kaito, this is not a game. This is a reality. A reality where you can die. A reality where you can live."
Orion said another thing said to him.
"Kaito, this is not a joke. This is a challenge. A challenge where you can fail. A challenge where you can succeed."
He remembered Orion and another thing he said to him. He said:
"Kaito, this is not a dream. This is a chance. A chance where you can lose. A chance where you can win, this is your destiny. Your destiny where you can become a hero. Your destiny where you can become a king."
He remembered Orion and everything he said to him.
And he realized something.
He realized that this was not a game.
This was a reality.
A reality where he could die.
A reality where he could live.
And he decided something.
He decided that he wanted to live.
He wanted to live more than anything else.
He wanted to live and become a hero, a king
Mostly he was in it to get rich, famous and powerful.
So he tapped on yes and saw the screen change to:
"Restarting from the last checkpoint."
And he woke up again.
He woke up in his bed, in his apartment, in his life.
He woke up as himself.
But he also woke up as someone else.
Someone else who had a system.
Someone else who had a goal.
Also someone who wanted to get it all.
And he smiled and got up from his bed.
Because he knew what was going to happen next.
He knew that the Scorpions were going to attack him again.
And he knew that he was going to fight them again.
But this time, he was going to do it differently.
This time, he was going to do it better.
This time, he was going to do it with style.
Because this time, he had a skill.
A skill that he learned from his previous death.
This skill shows up on his screen when he restarted from the last checkpoint.
The skill was:
"Knife Mastery: Level 1
You have learned how to use a knife as a weapon. You can deal more damage and inflict more wounds with a knife.
+10% damage with knife
+10% chance to cause bleeding with knife"
And he grabbed his knife from his dresser and prepared for the Scorpions' arrival.
He prepared to fight them with his new skill.
Protect himself using the new skill he just got.
Because he knew they don't know what was coming to them
They were just regular guys with shitty lives.
They were just nobodies.
They were just losers with no destiny.
