148. Lu Bu Defeated, The Fall of Hulao Pass

Lu Bu then grabs Lu Lingqi, putting her on his horse in the back. After that, Lu Bu rode Red Hare towards Hulao Pass to protect his daughter.

Lie Fan's dizziness has gone, but he keeps looking at Lu Lingqi's back and sees that Lu Lingqi turned her head to look at him. Lu Lingqi who is looking at Lie Fan feels that this man is interesting albeit a pervert and has a poisonous mouth.

The Coalition Army began to cheer, taking this as a sign that Lu Bu forfeited the duel meaning they won. Dong Zhuo also saw this, he was angry at Lu Bu's incompetence and ordered his army to enter a defensive position.

In the future, this would no longer be known as Liu Guan Zhang Vs. Lu Bu, but Lie Huang Dian Vs. Lu Bu and Lu Lingqi. Yuan Shao seeing that the morale of the Army was at an all-time high, ordered the attack on Hulao Pass.

Dong Zhuo is commanding the defense, but seeing the low morale of his army and the aggressive offensive of the coalition, he decides it's not worth it to defend Hulao Pass for too long.

He told Li Ru to send the looting command to Dong Min, and He brought Lu Bu, Fan Chou, and Zhang Ji with 100,000 of their army to Luoyang. He leaves the command of the defense to Li Jue and Guosi with 40,000 army to buy some time for them.

So at night after the first skirmish between Dong Zhuo and the coalition had stopped, Dong Zhuo led his army to slip away from Hulao Pass unnoticed. Jia Xu received a report about this from Oriole members who had infiltrated Dong Zhuo's army.

Jia Xu reported this to Lie Fan, asking him what are their next step. Lie Fan ordered Jia Xu to send a letter to Xu Kai, telling him to keep an eye on the well that he had marked on the male when he first arrived in Luoyang.

Jia Xu was skeptical of what Lie Fan said but decided to believe him as Lie Fan's words were always true. The next day, Lie Fan joined Sun Jian and led the vanguard and the coalition army attacking Hulao Pass.

Li Jue and Guo Si defended the pass with all Of their might, with Lie Fan entering the fray alongside Huang Zhong and Dian Wei Dong Zhuo's soldiers are intimidated after they display their strength when they face off against Lu Bu.

Lie Fan, Huang Zhong, and Dian Wei became a spiritual pillar for the coalition army, the battle for Hulao Pass rage for 4 days when Hulao Pass was finally broken through after a long tiring siege battle. Li Jue and Guo Si retreated to Luoyang bringing 10,000 soldiers from 40,000 given by Dong Zhuo.

This shows how Li Jue and Guo Si are using human tactics to halt the Coalition army as long as they can, The Coalition Warlords decide to rest for a day before chasing after Dong Zhuo, as they realize that Dong Zhuo has been long gone.

Cao Cao pressed for everyone to immediately advance to Luoyang, as they have the upper hand now and if they are resting now they are giving Dong Zhuo a chance to fortify Luoyang more.

Yuan Shao rejected Cao Cao's suggestion which was the voice of other Warlords as well, only Lie Fan and Sun Jian agreed with what Cao Cao said. Lie Fan has lost 10,000 soldiers since the coalition started, bearing the heaviest casualties pressed that Cao Cao is right.

Yuan Shao still doesn't budge after Lie Fan and Usn Jian try to persuade him, in a fit of anger Sun Jian divides to lead the Vanguard army chasing after Doing Zhuo, which Lie Fan decides to join as well. Seeing the leaving Sun Jian and Lie Fan.

Cao Cao after contemplating staying with the warlords let Sun Jian and Lie Fan pursue Dong Zhuo's main army. Lie Fan and Sun Jian get their supplies from Yuan Shu who doesn't dare to do anything foolish, after rallying their troops numbering 48,000 men combined they pursue Li Jue and Guo Si.
