6 months later,
"Son, you will start at the academy next month. You have 22 day to prepare yourself."
"Academy? Don't they only allow 7 year old kids?"
"They do, but I talked to a staff member and they agreed to let you in."
"Why did they make an exception? I am 10 years old."
"They liked our Bed Crossbow. They wanted 20 of them and I asked for 60% profit + your admission. They agreed."
"Ok, but why just 60% profit? You could have asked 200%, we are the only producers after all."
"Every blacksmith who asked too much for their work are either dead or destroyed. Son, you don't want to get in their bad side."
"Understood."
Yasahiro was excited to go to the academy but he wanted to have a few more spells at his disposal first. So he planned to rescue the Dusk of Oolacile and then learn all the spells from her. Killing the golden golem won't be much of a problem but the hydra will be tricky.
After 5 days of preparation Yasahiro thought he was ready to fight the hydra. So in afternoon he went to the Darkroot Basin with his new siege weapon.
He first eliminated all the crystal golems from a distance. The damage of the +3 Bed Crossbow while shooting +3 projectiles was incredible. Most golems died in 1 shot and the others took 2.
Once all the golems were dead he created a wall using 2 heavy +3 shields on the hill overlooking the hydra. The shields were thick and strongly secured to the ground, They stopped the hydra's ranged attacks with ease.
At this point the only thing left to do was fire a shoot every 40 seconds until the hydra died. It took a total of 18 projectiles to kill the hydra, the count would have been less if Yasahiro didn't miss.
Yasahiro put the hydra in the inventory and returned to the bonfire. After he returned a golden golem appeared just like in the game.
Yasahiro then killed the golem but without damaging it's mid-section. He was afraid that the Dusk might die if he hit the center.
Once the Dusk of Oolacile appeared he answered accordingly to get access to the spells. He then bought all the spells she had to offer.
Now Yasahiro was ready for the academy. He returned to his house but when he returned he was confronted by his father.
"Where have you been?"
Asked Yasahiro's father.
"I was playing outside."
"Yeah? With whom? Your friend is right here."
A beautiful girl came out of the house and she looked angry.
"She said you didn't even come to play with your friends once the last 7 months. So where do you go every afternoon?"
Yasahiro didn't know what to say. He doesn't know anything about the friends he is suppose to have. Yasahiro tried to think of an explanation and thanks to his level 50 intelligence he found one in no time.
"I have been practicing Jutsu alone in the forest. I wanted to keep that a secret until I could do them properly."
Both Yasahiro's father and the girl looked at him with confusion.
"What are you talking about? You have a condition that prevents you from molding chakra."
Yasahiro then used the spell cast light in its basis form to convince them.
"I wasn't lying."
This left both of them speechless which gave him enough time to enter his room and pretend to sleep. The two of them gave up and started talking to each other instead but Yasahiro could still hear them.
"He changed a lot since the last time I saw him."
Said the girl with a puzzled look.
"You haven't seen anything yet. Have you seen the new crossbows in the market?"
"Yes, they are the center of every hunter's attention."
"Yasahiro was the one who invented it. He told me how to make the composite bow, he designed the trigger system, and he also designed the incredible bed crossbow."
"He did that?"
"Yeah. And his food preferences also changed. He has almost no interest in the sweets he used to like and instead want spicy ramen all the time. He also is a lot more cautious now which is the complete opposite of the reckless kid he was."
"That fight must have hurt him worse then I expected."
Said the girl with a guilty look.
"Fight?"
"Yes... Back when he used to play with me and the others Yasahiro found a coin on the ground. He wanted to buy sweets with that but another kid wanted it as well. They fought and Yasahiro loss miserably. I tried to help him up but maybe I did something wrong because he felt insulted and ran away. That was the last time I saw him, until now."
"Now it all makes sense. His interest in weapons, training in the forest alone, and now being able to mold chakra, everything adds up. That kid you mentioned, the one who beat Yasahiro, he doesn't have long to live."
"What do you mean?"
"My son has been planning his revenge for the last 7 months and now he is ready."
"But that kid is older then him by 4 years."
"Can he survive a shot from a 200 gram bolt fired from a 260 kg crossbow? Because Yasahiro can use that very well."
"You must stop him before he does something crazy."
"I don't have to do anything. He has earned the right to make his own decisions. Besides a man must stand up for himself."
Yasahiro felt proud of his father when he heard him say that. But now he felt like he was obligated to regain his lost honor and maybe it was because of all the killing of hollows but he didn't hesitate once before agreeing to badly beat up this kid.
