14 14. Skye and Fitz

"How is this possible May!?" asked Skye

"Coulson's source told him that in the year 1989 when he was released, he was able to get his hands on an enhanced who could retain its youth for a long time" May stated.

"No!" Mack said

"What the hell we are dealing with someone from World Ward 2 who could remain young is that it!?" asked Trip

"And your grandfather was some of the people who captured him along with Agent Carter for the first time," Skye said having known Trip's grandfather's name, she read it among the people who raided the base where Werner Reinhardt was captured.

"Let's not get off the topic here! Do we know what happened after that!?" asked Mack after regaining his composure.

"Evidently being a doctor he experimented on the enhanced and got everything he could from it including the organs and spinal fluid which helped him regain the youth," May stated.

"Then that enhanced!?" asked Koenig

"Most likely dead since we don't have anything on it in our index," said May after which she turned to look at everyone and seeing their expression couldn't help but add, "Now go back and do your work if something else is known about it Coulson will tell you all"

Hearing May's words everyone else just nodded their head and went back to do their work.

May walked towards Coulson's office while Skye followed right behind her.

"What are you doing Skye!?" asked May seeing that Skye was following her.

"Oh, I am just going to check up Fitz that's all," Skye said.

"Ok," May said as she continued to walk.

As they reached near the office, May turned her head to look towards Skye and thought she should talk with Coulson so that they could tell Skye about their source. It would be better for her to know early on that it is Ward that is telling them this information so that when she has to go to Ward which will happen in the future she will know what he had already told them and what they need to know. Thinking up till here May climbed the stairs to enter Coulson's office.

When Skye reached the laboratory she looked inside and saw Fitz sitting there alone on his table so she entered the laboratory walking straight towards Fitz who was burying his head in his computer.

"Hey, Fitz what are you doing!?" asked Skye as she walked towards him.

Fitz flinched the moment he heard Skye's voice and closed off the computer screen just as she reached him.

"Sk-Skye please don't scare me..... like that" Fitz said.

"Hey, I didn't do anything you were just busy with your work so you didn't see me coming and I have to call you out," Skye said then looked at Fitz's computer screen which he just closed and asked, "So what were you doing?"

"Oh-oh, nothing much ju-just some.... research no-nothing... important," Fitz said waving his hand off to get Skye's attention away from the computer screen, "So-so is... there some-something that you need!?"

"No, I just wanted to see how you were doing that's all, after the training with May all of us sat in the living room and went through the SSR files for 2 hours straight we were lucky that we found the person we were looking for otherwise I don't know for how long we would have kept going through those damn files," Skye said

"Umm..... why-why don't you ask some agents to turn-turn those files into.... digital files and save them in the base's sy-system so you won't ha-have a pr-problem like this again," Fitz stated.

"That's a brilliant idea, Fitz, why didn't I think that, I knew you would have a solution for this" Skye said in an excited voice most likely due to Fitz actively trying to help which he had stopped doing after Ward's assassination attempt on him.

"No-no it's nothing like.... that I -I am sure..... umm... you would have fou-found this.... solution on your own," said Fitz as he scratched his head.

"Yeah, maybe but I don't know when I would have thought of that but I only told you this now and you had already thought of a solution for it, well what else should I expect from the head of the SHIELD's Bio-Engineering research department," Skye said with a proud smile.

"I -I am not t-the head Skye, I -I shouldn't be the head," said Fitz said.

"None of that Fitz, you are already getting better and even if you are like this I would rather trust you than any other member of the bio-engineering department, and it's not because I look down on them Fitz but it's just that I wouldn't be able to trust them with my life as I would with you," Skye said as she squeezed his shoulder.

"So-So you.... trust me a lot!?" asked Fitz

"Of course Fitz as I said I would trust you with my life," Skye said with a smile.

"Th-Then in the future..... if-if I asked you to-to do some- something for me..... would you do it!?" asked Fitz

"If it's something that I can do for you that I will do it in a heartbeat Fitz," Skye stated.

"Thank you Skye I -I really..... ap-appreciate it," Fitz said as he nodded his head

"No problem no problem at all" replied Skye.

While the two younger friends were talking with each other, the two older friends were doing the same but the vibe there was different.

"So What Ward said is true!?" asked Coulson as he read through Werner Reinhardt's file.

"Most likely, though I still don't understand how was he able to get so much information when only the different head's of Hydra knew about it" May stated

"That's because he is that good May, I didn't want him in my team just because he was recommended to me but also because of his track record, the second-highest scorer in espionage after Black Widow and the difference between their score wasn't that much as well it was only 3 points lower then Natasha's" Coulson stated as he closed the file of Werner Reinhardt after reading it.

"And since he was a man it was natural that he won't be able to enter all the places like Black Widow"
