Entering the guild, I soon found Rose and walked up to her at the reception desk. My appearance garnered attention as usual, but I just ignored them.
"Hey Rose, how have you been?" I asked.
"Ok I guess" she said seeming a bit distant today.
"What's wrong, aren't you happy that one of your assigned adventurers level up in record time" I asked.
"Sigh, its not that. A group of new adventurers that I was assigned to as a dungeon advisor, disappeared in the dungeon. They are most likely dead but it feels like everyone that I am in charge of dies" she said in a gloomy tone.
"Aren't I alive" I said cheerfully.
"That's what worries me the most" she said looking further down cast.
"Don't worry too much Rose, anyone that dreams to become an adventurer should be ready for death. Some were forced by circumstance while some by choice but they should all know what to expect in the dungeon".
"You did all you could for them, so cheer up. They were either unlucky or pushed by greed to go to places beyond their capacity. Your job is to guide them on the path to survive and if they fail to listen or are unlucky how is that your fault?" I said, trying to pep talk her out of the gloominess that surrounded her. I wasn't sure what I said made sense to her or I was just spouting nonsense but it felt right so I said it.
"Now give me a smile" I said as she smiled wryly to me. She then went into business mode and changed the topic. We talked about the various quests currently available for my level and what floors that I should avoid for now. Some quests were repeatable while some were time limited. Materials from the dungeon was in constant demand and so were the request of rare material.
I picked some requests for crystal mantis wings, hell hound fangs, Almiraj fur and horns, lastly some Minotaur horns and skin. I didn't plan to go past the 16th floor as the Goliath would be there. I would only fight the Goliath, when I feel ready.
"Please fill these out" Rose said , while she presented some forms to me. There were a bunch of forms and other things i didn't bother reading through because I trusted Rose not to screw me over.
I was to fill out forms to be officially recognized as a third class adventurer by the guild. Doing so allowed me some benefits.
Access to more information, better deals on weapons, potions and discounts on certain things. I quickly finished doing the paper work in a few minutes and presented them to Rose.
"Everything is in order" she said.
"Now then there is one matter that has been blank for a while. Your familia type registration". She said.
The type of familia that we were was something that required a minimum of 1 level 2 adventurer in the familia to be chosen. Well I had long since decided on being an exploration familia. Bahamut's divinity didn't really leave much of a choice.
"Register the familia as an Exploration type" I said while smiling.
After taking my quest and filling all the forms, I exited the guild and said farewell to Rose before going to the dungeon.
The crystal mantis was a monster with body made of crystal. It's crystal body makes it one of the most difficult monsters in the middle floor. Well at least for the average adventurers but I already beat them before my level up so they were easy to take care off.
The problem that I had was the hellhounds. A dog monster that could shoot magic flames from its mouth. It is one of the weaker monsters in the middle floor and I could handle some easily but they moved in packs and never stopped chasing. The use of water spell to protect myself was wearing me out as I did not buy salamander wool for protection.
'What a blunder' I thought after, I finished the last of the pack.
My bag had a slight burn but it was still usable. I was currently heading to the 16th floor because, I couldn't find any Minotaurs while on the 15th.
'They were probably wiped out by adventurers' I thought while, I descended further, still being fully alert of my surroundings.
On the 16th floor I ran into a few adventurers that were about to be robbed and killed. I hesitated a bit to involve myself with it but some new people arrived at the scene, whom I recognized.
They were the Astraea familia. The members consisted of Alise, Ryuu, Kaguya, Lyra, Neeza and the rest. Seeing this all female familia, who takes it upon themselves to uphold justice in Orario looked quite intimidating.
"It's the Astraea familia" screamed one of the assailants as he wanted to flee.
"It doesn't matter. We will kill them just like all the others" the leader of the group said.
"Haha" I laughed out loud while I came out from the dark area which I hid drawing attention to me.
"It been a while Alise" I said in a friendly tone.
"Who and what are you?" She asked. This made me feel perplexed before I remembered that I hadn't shown my face to a lot of people. I thought news of me had reached everyone but I guess that I was wrong.
"The black hunter" I said as I put my cloak hoodie back on.
"Aaah, the guy with weird spells" she screamed in realization.
"Well I guess it's the first time you have seen my face, I am Draco black of the Bahamut familia, nice to formally meet you" I said, introducing myself. Though they looked like they wanted to ask more questions we were interrupted by the assailants.
"Stop ignoring us" screamed the leader in rage before he and his group charged towards the Astraea familia. I couldn't help but question if he was stupid challenging a familia of a higher rank that had more numbers than them.
The Astraea familia members were between level 3 and 4 now, so this was going to be a one sided massacre. ' I hope I will be strong enough to help the Astraea familia before they get slaughtered in the next 2 or 3 years' I thought while, I watched the assailants get massacred. Surprisingly the supposed victims had fled the scene during the battle without giving their thanks.
