Chapter 115 - The Glacial Mygalomorph

The Glacial Mygalomorph is just like its alias had said—an Eight-legged white spider. Its size was I assumed was probably a pair of horses sticking together. It was huge and horribly frightening.

And that frightening Eight-legged horror was rushing at as at a very alarming rate.

"Everyone, scatter!" I took Lemuen who was the nearest with me and quickly stepped back out with the rest who also dispersed in haste.

Shortly, the Glacial Mygalomorph leaped and stamped the ground where we were just a seconds ago, slightly crushing the surface of the bridge and releasing an icy smoke from the impact. We'll be a mincemeat if we ever get crushed by that... I think?

"Eek!" Mikael shrieked.

Eventually, the Glacial Mygalomorph came to a pause, and was shaking. Such sight made it looked believable, in which Lily has fallen into.

"—?! It was stunned...! Everyone, go for a counter—" Lily shouted, about to aim her bow.

"No, stop! Go away!" I intervened. Lily probably thought it was stunned cause of the similarities with the Green Mushroom Hare1 that I fought long ago.

After all, there's a reason why it's called a Prowler. Ah—

"Here it comes!" I warned.

Everyone stiffened in response. Until they realized, the spider creates a devastating shockwave that slightly knocked us back, together with a form of thick layer of frigid smoke.

"Guh...! Cold..." Lara groaned as she got enveloped by smoke.

"This is..." Seia mumbled. She was currently grappled into the wall.

The shockwave created a dense fog. Aside from the gleam of light from the already placed torches, there was nothing the eyes were able to perceive. Moreover, despite us having Cold Resistance buff, the slight cold was still affecting us...

"Astra, you there...?" Asked Luna. Her hands already on her sword for a moment's notice. "Looks like scattering everyone was the spider's plan, it seems. I can't see everyone."

"You're right." Astra calmly answered, holding her Envenomed Edge that's shoved on the ground. "It was to take out our optic sense, huh... quite crafty for a mere spider."

"You sure are calm about this." Luna quipped.

"Well, yeah—?!" Astra shut her mouth as she felt bloodlust coming her way. She immediately took her sword out and blindly tries to block a fast-incoming attack.

Boom! Astra was spot-on. Something strongly crashed to the blade of her sword. It was so strong it felt heavy. Astra can't help but groan as she tried her best not to get blown-out.

"Guh—?!" The Glacial Mygalomorph was already in front of Astra. While she uses all her strength to block it, the spider took this advantage and tries to pierce her with its sharp legs,

Sharp breath. Danger tingled down the spider's senses. The next thing it knew, it was being sliced apart with a flurry of quick slashes by someone.

"Kih—?!" The Glacial Mygalomorph tried to get away from the source of its damage. It didn't think there was someone who's able to hurt it this much.

But it can't,

[Paralysis]

Luna's sword, the 『Deep-sea Scimitar』 is a weapon that's more than a normal blade. Upon being swung, fires an electric shock projectile that render monsters unable to move.

What makes this weapon special, is that it's Paralysis affects even a boss-type monsters as well.

"Don't waste any second, Astra!" Luna shouted and began another round of slashes to the disabled spider. Astra responded fast and followed suit. "Let's pummel it together!"

"I know!" Astra retorted as she brandished her sword on the way.

Astra: ⟨⟨Iaijutsu⟩⟩ + ⟨⟨Multiple⟩⟩

The tandem stormed the spider with their ridiculous rain of slashes, diminishing the giant's Health in great pace. Moreover, their swords who inflicts their own debuffs was adding more to its injury.

"Nuh—?!" Luna and Astra flinched in wary as the spider began shaking once again. They knew what was coming next, so both of them cancelled their skills and stepped-back from the spider.

Just as they expected, the Glacial Mygalomorph unleashed another destructive shockwave that blew them both together in an unbelievable coldness.

The place was foamed with a thick layer of cold smoke once again. Moreover, this time, due to the repeated process, the fog was thickened. Seeing became harder than before.

"Damn it," I mused. "What's happening. I can hear the sound of fighting, but I can't see them."

I'm starting to get impatient. I want to use the 『Ability Scroll: ⟨⟨Aerial Blast⟩⟩』 and blow this haze away for Pete's sake but the boss's skill will render me unable to do it. Damn it, what to do...

"Sai," When I knew it, someone was calling me. I can't see her, though. But this voice...

"Lily?" I answered. Not only I can't see her, but I can't also detect her presence... "Where are you?"

"Just behind you," She whispered. I'm focusing to my front for a moment's notice, so I didn't bother turning behind me. She seemed to understand and didn't bother asking. "There's already a fight. It's Luna and Astra against the giant spider."

"You knew?" I asked, astonished.

"Yep. I was near them so I can hear them loud and clear. It's a coincidence that I manage to see you after I retreated, though."

"Really? Arachne supposedly have keen senses. I'm surprised it didn't manage to detect you?"

"I suppose this cloaked did its purpose then?" Lily quipped. Oh yeah, the 『Nihilist Cloak』 had the function that reduce the wearer's presence by a huge margin, right?

Wait...! If that's the case...

"Hey Lily," I called. "I got something of a mission only you can do."

"Eh?"

Somewhere over the bridge, Lemuen, together with Akari runs their way to try to hopefully run into someone. They really need to be very careful as searching became harder for the fog thickens.

"Ugh, where are they?" Lemuen complained. She was holding a Torch as for some reason, she can't manipulate her magic, hence unable to use it, neither is Akari. "So, the fog was for this, huh."

"Yes," Akari nodded. "Moreover, since it's the skill of that spider, it surely has another skill that's able to locate our positions. We've been compromised, it seems."

"Ugh... Does that mean, the sound we heard before is someone clashing against the spider? Seems to have concluded for now, but—"

"—?!" Akari felt shivers down her body and pulled Lemuen's collar away. She felt someone coming their way. But with this bloodlust, surely, it's not their allies coming to get them.

"Uwah—?!" At that moment, Lemuen felt like time had come into a halt. It's not any magic or skills whatsoever. The only thing she knew, is that—a sharp thing that's the size of a limb was within her eyes only a few centimeters range.

Lemuen was dumbfounded. She understood what she felt. It was not a time-related skills or magic. It was her life that just flashed before her eyes.

Schwing! The attacked missed, and the Glacial Mygalomorph was now in front of them. Lemuen's heart has been beating rapidly caused by such terrifying experience.

"Huff... Huff...! W-What the hell was that...? Huff..." Lemuen asked, albeit panting heavily.

"So, we're its next target, huh...!" Akari started materializing magic on her palms that starts shaking uncontrollably. Akari can't help but click her tongue in annoyance. "Tsk, how troublesome."

Akari fired her magic that started turning into a slashed-shaped projectile. Unfortunately, the magic was sloppy that it didn't create made much of a heavy damage when it hits the spider.

"What to do...?" Akari mused. Her and Lemuen were in real danger. They have no way of defending themselves as they can't use magic. "If only someone of the party were here..."

Boom! Akari was thinking when all of a sudden, a sound of a small explosion echoes through their ears then came a hail of bullets that pierced to the spider's body.

"That's...!" Mused Akari. There was only one person who uses such weapon,

The Glacial Mygalomorph were also left surprised. It already knows that someone was coming. But no matter how much it's aware of, someone with big physique wouldn't be able to dodge a bullet.

The next thing it knew, a Grappling Hook was already clawed into its body. The spider then saw the person propelled herself towards itself. The spider, with its instinct tries to attack the person coming towards it with its sharp limbs.

But to its shock, just before it hit the target, the person kicked the air swiftly, knocking her away just to dodge the incoming slash before it manages to reach her.

Boom!!! The Glacial Mygalomorph was shot by a Shotgun point-blank collaborated with a spray of pressurized water bullet in combination.

""Seia!!"" Akari and Lemuen delightfully shouted in tandem.

"I heard something out here, so I came to get by." Seia remarked as she landed. "I'm glad I made it in time. You guys good?"

"What do you mean you only came to get by... Nevermind, thank you for saving us. We can't really use our magic for some reason, so were glad you came right in time." Lemuen replied.

"Can't use magic, you say?" Seia pondered. "Hm, it might be that spider's skill. In any case, we could ask Sai about it after we find him."

"Nh," Akari nodded. "If it's Aruji-sama, I'm sure he'll know something about it."

"Ah, I forgot to mention. I also already met-up with those guys." Seia mentioned. "I rushed from the scene so I can here earlier, but they should here any second now... Oh, there they are."

"W-Wait...! Huff... Huff... You're so fast...! I... Can't..." The three turned to Lara who was running, trying to catch her breath. Mikael was also beside her. Only the faint form of their body can be seen, by the way.

"—?! The spider...!" The spider was escaping once again. Seia immediately fired and stormed it with bullets, but manages to escape quickly, hiding once again. "Damn spider is starting to get really annoying..."

"Right," Akari agreed, was pissed also. "I can't use my magic because of it that's it's starting to get annoying. What—"

"Everyone!!!" Then all of a sudden, the voice of the man reverberates the whole cavern.

"—!! Aruji-sama!" Akari.

"Speak of the devil..." Seia.

"Aruji-sama?!" Mikael voiced-out her shock. "E-Even her is calling him in such a way..."

"I was also surprised..." Lara replied.

"Why is he shouting all of a sudden...?" Lemuen.

Somewhere in the bridge...

"Oh, loud." Astra remarked. "Is that Sai?"

"...That seems to be the case." Luna replied. "Does Master have a plan or something..."

"You ready, Lily?" I asked. I don't know where's her exact location, but I know she can hear me. "The spider must've noticed me now. I'll be getting out of here and leave it to you, okay?"

"...Got it!" Lily replied.

"Alright, then..." Currently on an elevated place, I jumped as far as I could towards the bridge whom I have no idea where its exact location is. Well, just got to time it, I guess.

Not long after, I felt bloodlust approaching to where I'm landing. With that in mind, I took out the 『Serpent's Edge』 and braced for an incoming impact... It's coming!

"Guh—!" I gritted my teeth as the Glacial Mygalomorph slams itself towards me. It felt like my soul had just left my body, but it can't be helped. "Lily, now's the time..."

"Leave it to me..." Lily raised her palm towards the center of the place. Slowly, gust of wind started building into her palm, getting stronger and stronger every second. It started looking like a massive ball of whirlwind. 

Once Lily felt like its strong enough, she...

Lily: ⟨⟨Aerial Blast⟩⟩

The huge mass of wind shoots out at the center of the cavern and exploded, clearing the whole fog completely.

It can't be seen clearly but I know this damn spider was shocked to its core. I can't help but smile in response. "Now we won't have anything to worry, are we?"

Now, it's time for counterattack, you damn spider!
