Chapter 9 - Farming and Gathering

"Luna, you ready?"

"Yes Master. let's go!"

I gave Luna a heads-up before departing through the forest. Although I have the knowledge of the game, we're not guaranteed in safety.

We put everything we will need in our 『Magic Pouch』 including the [Equipment] and some [Foods] we steal beforehand. We made sure we are ready before we engage to such reckless course of action.

We sneaked through the cabin at the cavity on the boundary wall of the residence where Luna and Hime used their way to get outside of the Mansion yesterday.

As defenseless as usual, I wonder how they would defend themselves if they got raided or when something strong came like when a "Monster Boss" appeared.

Well, putting this aside, we head straight from the [Mana Pool] we saw yesterday while Luna follows me behind holding the 『Magic Lantern』 in her left hands.

After a moment of venturing the forest, it didn't take us an hour before we finally reached the place.

"Luna."

"Yes."

The [Mana Pool] which was out first destination were currently surrounded by a group of 『Slimes』. This time, there are at least 30 of them. Just how did they get so many in just a day?

"They're weak but they're still many of them. Be careful Luna." I remarked.

I took out my 『Katana』 and starts to engage the Slimes together with Luna who also took out her weapon 『Scimitar』 and follows me behind.

"Huu~ good work Luna."

"Yes."

After defeating the large group of 『Slimes』, we collected the slime dropped from the battle.

What we got was just some 『Slime Gel』 and... Oh!

"An 『Anti-Disturbance Core』."

"Anti-disturbance core?"

Luna tilted her head and asked me with a puzzled expression.

"This item was kind of useful you see. If we place it on the ground, it will decrease the spawn rate of the monsters by a huge margin; meaning, monsters won't spawn in this items radius, about 20 meters or so."

Luna made an astonished face on the Item I'm holding. Well, with this, we can have our peace of mind when we rest instead of resting in the middle of the forest completely defenseless.

We then went near the [Mana Pool] after I put the 『Anti-Disturbance Core』 in my 『Magic Pouch』.

I took out a small [Magnifying Glass] which was the [Glass] I mentioned with Luna before and soaked it in the [Mana Pool].

"What are you doing master?"

"Just wait and see."

After a moment, the lens of the magnifying glass lets out a white reflection indicating that it receives the power of the [Mana Pool].

the [Magnifying Glass] has turned into [Magic Appraiser].

Just as the name indicate, [Magic Appraiser] can assess any item or living things it aimed at.

"Finally! with this... huh?"

"What's wrong master?"

After celebrating, I aim the [Magic Appraiser] at Luna who's displaying a puzzled expression.

[Magic Appraiser] I know in the game should only appraise the targets HP, Mana, and its Name.

But what can I see was...

『Name: Luna』

『HP: 100』

『MP: 40』

『DEF: 0』

『AGI: 20』

『DEX: 10』

『ENDURANCE: 50』

W-what is this??? Agility? Dexterity? Endurance? Eh? Is it because this is real life that every stat of a person is now indicated? I forgot the fact that we can get tired on a daily basis.

It will be bad if a "Boss" appeared.

In the game, we can fight the bosses of the game for a whole day because it's just a game. The player won't get tired even if he fought forever until he died.

Some "bosses" can even be killed for about 2 hours. The others who are hard to kill will usually take about 6 hours of non-stop moving.

But this is real life...

I guess I need to plan those things from now on in case a 『Boss』 appeared.

"Master, I-is something the matter...?"

Luna anxiously called me. Probably at the cause of my negative reaction which probably ended up agitating her. I mean, if you suddenly saw your reliable leader in your group suddenly made such expression, you'll also start to worry.

"No Luna, I just realized and remembered something. Nothing to worry about." I replied in reassurance.

"R-really...?" Luna's lips wrinkled, unconvinced. Oh? nice reaction. Luna making such cute, worried face makes me want to tease her.

"Yes really." I patted Luna's head which made her surprised and embarrassed. "Well, never mind that, let's go."

I put the [Magic Appraiser] into my 『Magic Pouch』 and started to venture deeper into the forest.

The plan was the same as we did yesterday, we're here to gather 『Mana Fragments』 and get ourselves used to fighting.

"We're here."

We went through the forest full of 『Mana Flowers』 in its surrounding. The blue dim light and an unknown feeling that sends to my heart makes it as beautiful as ever.

"Master..."

As expected, not all of it already bloomed. Though there are some, its few and not as many as before...

"Yeah, let's start. Be careful Luna."

Luna starts harvesting the fully bloomed 『Mana Flowers』 while I fend the mobs away from her. I borrowed the [Magic Lantern] Luna is holding and hang it in my pants then starts to engage the enemies.

Since there are only fully bloomed 『Mana Flowers』, it only took us half an hour to fully harvest everything.

During those 30 minutes of working, the list of we got was:

• Mana Fragment *22x

• Slime Gel *46 (Including all the slime gel we get before)

• Mana Flower's seed *2x

"It's few compared to what we got yesterday master." Luna remarked.

"It can't be helped; it has only been a day since we harvested these." I stated.

Luna is making a disappointed expression. Well, I expected this much. Let's just be glad there are some who still bloomed in just a day.

I put every item we got in my 『Magic Pouch』 and called Luna. "Luna, let's head back to the [Mana Pool] and rest there. Let's go eat there also."

"Yes!" Luna replied and started to follow behind me.

"Ah! Also, while we're eating, mind teaching me about magic?"

After we finished our work here, we left the forest surrounded by mana flowers and went back to the place with the [Mana Pool].

Aright, we're back. I have Luna prepare the foods while I put every 『Mana Fragments』 I have into the [Mana Pool].

We harvested a total of 『22 Mana Fragments』 plus the three leftover we got yesterday. A total of 25.

I dropped all 『25 Mana Fragments』 and after a while, 『5 Mana Essence』 floats upward the [Mana Pool].

"Yoshi! even though it's only 5, it will still permanently increase Luna's mana by a hundred."

With this, Luna will have a total of 140 Mana. She can probably spam Magic attacks from now on.

I called Luna who is in the middle of preparing our midnight dinner.

"What is it, master?" Luna responded, shifting her attention to me while she prepares the food.

I gave her the 『5 Mana Essence』. Though after giving it to her, Luna made a conflicted expression.

"Master, are you really sure about giving it to me?"

"Yes. didn't I say it before? we're going to maxed-out your Mana gauge first before mine because you know magic more than me?" I stated.

"I see, thank you master." Luna said, beaming a smile.

"No problem. in exchange, take care of yourself for me, okay?"

Surprise to my unusual word, Luna's face flushed red. "Y-yes..."

"Good. Well then..." I took out the 『Anti-Disturbance Core』 and put it on the ground. It didn't signal something to know if it works though. Well, we'll know it after a while. If we didn't get interrupted by some mobs, it means it works.

"Also..." I took out the 『Beaver Shark』 which I've never used since I took it from my father's treasury.

It has an appearance of a pickaxe that have fins shape that you can use as an Axe and Pickaxe. It's a mixed colour of blue and white pertaining the colour of a shark and two white teeth-like appearance on the opposite side of the fins.

Luna who's consuming the 『Mana Essence』 by crushing it in her hands saw me, probably wondering where I will use this equipment I'm holding.

"Master...?"

With this, I went and stand near in front of a tree. Without hesitation, I swung my 『Beaver Shark』 at the tree repeatedly. After a few swings, the tree was cut down started to fall in my position. I evaded it and after it fall, the tree was split apart and was sucked into my magic pouch.

""...""

Eh? It was the same in the game? the tree cut apart turns into an item and will get sucked through the player?

"M-master... what was that just now..." Luna asked in bewilderment.

"Even if you asked me, I don't know either..."

Well, I guess it works so I'm not going to complain. The next thing is...

"I want to craft a campfire, but I don't know how..."

Suddenly, a "Heads-up Display" (HUD) suddenly appeared from my vision.

"Wha—" I was stunned at a sudden appearance of the HUD in front of me.

the HUD has the same display of the game when you went into the game's Menu.

"Eh...?" I instinctively uttered a sound, nonplussed.
