during the last 10 years I wasn't just training I was collecting gold and treasure by either hunting criminals by myself and taking them to the jarls to uphold the law or helping in the settlement when I was studying with my grandfather and he was a generous man though I helped him a lot with my ideas and I collected enough for a small team of sailing Varangian guards of 12 people, a shipbuilder from the later Viking era and a navigator of the 17 century who had a compass which will help me in my plans

it was a small team but this is just the beginning

after I summoned them a flash of light appeared in front of me after the light passed I saw 26 figures standing there 24 of them wore uniform armour: a chainmail shirt on the bottom

the chainmail shirt covered almost everything from the neck to the upper thigh on top of it was another armour that covered the vitals

as for the rest of the body they had leg and arm protection and a helmet they are well armoured for this time and the steelwork is better than anything available with current technology

as for the weapon they had a one-handed sword which is a sign of being rich by the standards of the Vikings in the time as metal is a pressus thing and most warriors fight with an axe or a spear as it consumes less metal to make so Varangian guards will be like tanks in the battlefield

all the Varangian appeared to be tall as normal Viking

the other two were different: the shipbuilder was wearing what any normal commoner would with leather shoes and pants and be wearing some blue fabric the only thing that makes him unique is his messy hair and the bag that he is holding in his hand in it there were many tools like an axe, a hammer, some metal nails, etc.

as for the navigator, he was completely different as he was from a different era so his clothes were like the clothes of the 17 century and he also has a little bag but it was filled with tools for navigation: a compass, a scope, a few scrolls etc.

after they appeared they all come closer to me and knelt in front of me

"We are at your service lord," they said in unison

I smile at them and tell them to get up this will be my army in the future and their loyalty is insured because they come from the system but they are still human so they lust over wealth like any other and the Varangian guards are the Viking that set sail just for wealth and glory they travelled half of the old world just to find miklagard (what is known to us as Constantinople or Istanbul currently).

I will give them immortality but the problem with immortality is you can't die and you still feel pain so as you have no fear of death you will still feel the pain of death every time this will be a psychological problem imagine if you die from a stab to the heart you will enter a state like hibernation until your wound heal but you still could feel what is happening to your body

that is why in the last five years I have been training my endurance to pain and I have tried the cruellest ways possible but what I didn't know at the beginning is that the more I died some way my body adapts and prevents me from dieing for example fire it burned me at the start but after my body adapted at most I will feel hot in the fire

it is because I have a limitless potential that is why as for others they will not adapt so although immortality is overpowered it has its limitation for others
