Transport: Tunnel Ambush (2)

Leo and Crawler quickly made their way to the entrance of the tunnel and found a man wearing a safety vest with the words "CONSTRUCTION CREW" on the back sending cars away.

Crawler waved towards the man and signaled to the guardrails, pointing out that Leo and Crawler would be waiting over there.

The man nodded and Leo and Crawler jumped over the guardrails and sat down.

Crawler removed his current sight from his KNT-76 before looking toward Leo.

"Nightmare, I will be using a 1.5x sight, this should be enough to take out any enemies that approach you rapidly, just know that if I get under heavy fire that I will retreat since there is no clear cover near the tunnel. I will be laying on the road close to the guardrail. Once I retreat I will radio you to make your way back as well and to keep the entrance of the tunnel sealed. To be fair though we probably won't need to do any of this since it's only six agents and two drivers who probably won't be able to get out."

Leo nodded.

"Alright, I trust you with this. Also feel free to just call me Night."

"Copy, Night."

Leo took out his radio and turned it on.

"Nightmare to Artemis, we are in position."

"Artemis to Nightmare, copy. We are also in position, transport ETA 20 minutes."

"Nightmare to Artemis, copy. We will radio in when convoy enters tunnel."

Leo sat down on the cold ground and took a good look at his riot shield.

It looked pretty simple, it was entirely black, even the glass pane had a slight black tinge.

The only thing that was of notice was a small red button that would deploy it to be an active shield.

There was not a lot else he could do, so he decided to check up on his weapon one last time.

He made sure that his weapon was loaded and not jammed in any way before stuffing a couple extra magazines in his magazine holder.

"Pirate to Nightmare, an additional vehicle has been spotted driving along with the main payload. Expect additional combatives."

"Nightmare to pirate, may I have the details on the vehicle?"

"Pirate to Nightmare, it appears to be a armored dodge RAM."

"Nightmare to pirate, copy, how many extra agents are we talking about?"

"Pirate to Nightmare, most likely four extra agents, can't guarantee it though."

"Nightmare to Pirate, copy. Thanks for the report."

Leo put his radio down and looked towards Crawler.

"I guess this means that we have to let the other vehicle through as well, try to snipe them off as quickly as possible, do you have a suppressor by any chance?"

"Yea, but even if I supress the KNT-76 it is still pretty damn loud, they will probably figure out my position after three shots or something."

"Then make the best of those shots, try to take out anyone who approaches me."

"Copy."

"Looks like it is showtime, Night."

Right as Crawler said that an armored bearcat approached the tunnel with a dodge RAM behind it.

They quickly entered the tunnel and Crawler scrambled to the radio.

"Crawler to Artemis! Target entered the tunnel! Deploy the modular vehicle barrier!"

"Copy!"

Total silence followed for the next couple seconds until...

"Were they on tim-"

a loud crash was heard before Crawler could finish his sentence and Leo knew that this would be his signal.

He quickly jumped the guard rail with his riot shield and started pushing towards the tunnel.

Leo dashed at full speed, only paying attention to the riot shield ensuring that it is properly covering his body.

Halfway through he stopped and took a quick look through the glass pane.

The armored transport itself was laying sideways on the road and the backdoor had been opened, but was quickly closed and locked again.

The reason it had flipped was due to the dodge RAM quite literally ramming the armored transport, resulting in the vehicle flipping.

Three operatives were laying behind the dodge RAM, seeking cover from the onslaught of bullets released by Pirate from the other side.

Five more were hiding behind the armored transport and two corpses riddled with bullets laid directly in the line of fire of Artemis.

In total eight operatives were left, and Leo was about to reduce that number a bit.

"It's showtime!"
