141 The insurgency

At some point Leo had fallen asleep in the back of the car.

He had quite the day and adrenaline had been pumping the entire time, now that the adrenaline was breaking down properly Leo felt really tired.

In the end he fell asleep in the back of the car, much to the driver's delight.

The driver sighed before speaking to his comrade sitting next to him.

"What do you think delta command will do with him?"

The guy sitting in the passenger seat looked at the driver in terror.

"Shut the fuck up dude, we aren't sure if he is asleep..." said the passenger in a low tone.

The driver looked at the passenger with an annoyed expression on his face.

"Who fucking cares dude, you've seen what he is capable of and he willingly got in the car, even going as far as guessing our identity. He probably has figured out already what will be happening and all."

The man in the passenger seat looked towards the back seats.

Leo was out cold, sleeping contently.

"Honestly, I expect that Valentina will try to bind him to her, if he is lucky he will be her right-hand man."

The man in the driver's seat looked at his friend.

"You've got to be kidding me, that would arguably be the best decision for him possible as of now."

"Why do you think that?"

"Fucking look at him, he detonated the warhead without any outside support, he had to get all the required resources in the site itself, I think that Valentina will see him as too much of a threat, she would probably dispose of him."

"You honestly think she would do that?"

"Well, yeah. You can't deny that he could pose a serious risk to us if we upset him, you saw what he did back there at the site as proof."

"Well, that is true but wouldn't Valentina have a use for him? She has been in need of a right-hand man for a while, some other delta command members apparently gave her an elite guard but she rejected him, saying he wasn't worthy."

"Those are all rumors though."

The two comrades in arms continued to talk for a while longer meanwhile Leo was asleep.

______________

After who knows how long, Leo finally woke up.

The reason he woke up wasn't even because he was done sleeping, it was because the driver ended up hitting a speed bump a bit too hard.

Sadly, by the time Leo woke up the two insurgents had switched to a different topic.

When they noticed that Leo was up the driver spoke to him.

"Let's see... We are about fifteen minutes away from our destination as of now."

"And what even is our destination?" asked Leo.

The two insurgents looked at each other.

"You will be meeting Delta command member Valentina, she is the one who orchestrated the site raid."

"Guess I could've figured as much, what is the power of a delta command member comparable to?" asked Leo.

"Well, if we compare it to the foundation, they have about the same authority as the overseer council, but compared to the council they lack in facilities and such."

"So when it comes to manpower they are comparable to the foundation?" said Leo in a confused tone.

"Well, yes and no. Let me put it this way; when it comes down to combatives, absolutely not. However, we insurgents tend to use anomalies to our benefit, something the foundation doesn't. The fact that we use anomalies greatly covers the gap in strength."

"Ah, that also explains the reason why you tend to lack in facilities."

Leo started to understand it a bit but was still far from comprehending it completely.

However, before he could think it through the driver called out to him as the vehicle came to a stop.

"We are here, get out and enter the building you see in front of you, she will be waiting for you inside."

Leo nodded as he stepped out of the vehicle.

In front of him stood a small wooden cabin, smoke was leaving the chimney.

"Well, this certainly is not where I expected to meet someone who might be able to match an overseer."
