140 Detonation

The men looked a bit surprised.

However, it didn't last for long as one man responded.

"Guess they were right about you, get in the car, they want to meet you."

Leo obliged and stepped into the car.

The two men also got in and quickly drove off.

After a while of driving in silence, Leo asked a question.

"How many did you lose?"

It took a while for the man sitting in the passenger seat to respond.

"Sixteen, 7 injured and two captured."

"You sure they won't speak?" asked Leo.

This time the driver replied.

"They were only instructed on hitting the main and backup generator, they didn't know the true purpose of this raid."

"Alright, it is a worthy loss though." said Leo.

The man in the passenger seat got angry upon hearing Leo's statement.

"The fuck do you mean with that? They were good men and women. They sacrificed their lives in order to get you out of that shithole and this is how you respond? Worth it?"

Leo sighed.

"I did something that you guys couldn't even do if you attacked the site with 100 people."

The guy in the passenger seat started mocking Leo.

"Oh, what did you do? Steal an SCP? So cool and good for you, we could've accomplished that with 10 skilled operatives."

"I armed the nuclear warhead in the heavy containment sector." said Leo casually.

A surprised expression appeared on the face of the man in the passenger seat meanwhile the driver gripped the steering wheel tighter.

"Like hell you did, you would need at least level four clearance, you are just bluffing!" said the driver.

"And even if you did arm it, someone would just disarm it again." said the man in the passenger seat.

Leo once again replied really casually.

"You will see soon, or more like feel it."

"Yeah, sure buddy. If it wasn't for us assisting you in escaping you would still be rotting there for the next twenty years."

The two people in the car kept arguing with Leo.

Normally Leo would be bothered, but this was the first real social interaction he had that wasn't just a researcher questioning him and ignoring him once he got the answer he wanted.

Adam pretty much was only interested in Leo's information, whenever Leo asked anything he would get ignored.

In the end, it was understandable since Adam was being controlled by an overseer, so he couldn't do anything out of the ordinary.

Leo already figured that he got punished because of it and that was the main reason why the O5 led him out of the room, alongside his little temper tantrum, of course.

Leo was still in deep thought when a dulled-out explosion was heard.

The ground shook heavily but only for a short while before silence returned.

There was no grand flash nor was there any form of mushroom cloud due to the heavy containment sector being underground.

However, the expression on the driver and passenger were priceless.

"See? I told you that you wouldn't be able to do what I did at the site, the lives you sacrificed were worth it."

This time the guy sitting in the passenger seat didn't say anything, they did not confirm yet that the explosion was from the site but figuring that Leo had been talking about it for a while they could connect the dots.

They finally realized that they were dealing with a monster, quite literally and figuratively.

The looks of surprise were still plastered on their face and Leo was enjoying it.

He also knew what conclusion they came to but didn't get bothered by it, since it was mostly true.

The rest of the ride went on in silence.

Leo held some small talk with the driver since the person sitting in the passenger site kept his mouth shut due to being scared.

As the matter of fact, the driver was also scared but he just wanted to make sure that Leo would not get offended by them so he held some small talk.

Leo lost count of time since they drove for multiple hours, he expected it since otherwise it would be too easy for him to be tracked down.
