CHAPTER 55(Secrets and Severed Bonds)

CHAPTER START---

"MY DAD?!" Naruto cries out as he forces himself to stand, getting in Jin's face.

With a light push, Jin sits him back down for Sakura to continue treating him.

"Yes, your dad. I assumed you at least looked at pictures in the textbooks... you literally look the same," Jin shrugs.

"But...Namikaze?"

"Your mom's name was Uzumaki, I assume they did this to protect you from the people that are hunting Jinchuriki like you currently, look I don't have time to catch a moron up on stupid village secrets so just shut up about this and ask the princess when we get back, for the record, I honestly assumed you knew by now, especially considering the people you've been hanging around since you left the academy," Jin casually walks over to treeline as he waits for them to process everything.

A few minutes later as they begin following Orochimaru with Jin leading the way, Naruto can't help but keep asking questions, not that Jin could really blame him.

"So that's why you were sent with us then?" Naruto questions.

"Yeah, the princess knew that I already knew who and what you were and last time you tapped into Kyuubi chakra with me around I put your entire team in the hospital remember? So I was naturally a good choice to help on this mission," Jin gives him a smirk as he and Sakura frown.

"You've fought it before?" Yamato speaks up.

"Yeah, the same kind of reason as Orochimaru actually, I was gonna kill Sasuke and Naruto used it to stall enough for Sasuke to escape, barely, it was pretty fun." Jin laughs as he recalls the fight.

"Fighting you was NOT fun, I had so many things broken when I woke up the next week," Naruto winces as he remembers the fight.

"And the exact same thing will happen if you ever use it against me again, likely worse honestly," Jin's tone was jovial but they could tell, he was dead serious.

"But Jin didn't even get hurt in that fight, was he really that strong back then?" Sakura questions.

"Ask Kakashi when you see him again, he was awake more than Naruto or Sasuke, we're close, get ready," he orders as they approach the enemy hideout.

"Thanks for filling me in by the way Jin, can't believe they've been lying to me," Naruto sounded a bit hurt, still processing the news.

"They weren't really lying Naruto. If they told you then the chance of someone accidentally finding out or a spy leaking it was almost guaranteed, it was for your own safety so remember that before you blow up at them, there are people that can take you down even if you are a jinchuriki and those are the people hunting you down right now."

His words resonate deep within Naruto as they proceed to the hideout, the blonde retreating into his own mind to arrange his thoughts.

Arriving at the underground hideout, Jin signals everyone to stop at a specific point on the grass.

"We're here, you guys ready?" He asks, earning puzzled looks from everyone.

"What?"

"Sigh, Sasuke is directly below us," Their eyes go wide as he points at the ground between them.

Naruto and Sakura both look at the ground with some apprehension, a look of doubt, then apprehension, then determination shows on their faces as they furrow their brows and clench their fists.

"Let's do this," Yamato says as they all nod in agreement.

Using earth style the team stealthily burrow through the dirt until they meet the stone of Sasuke's room.

Yamato looks back and gives them a nod of confirmation.

As he lets Sakura go first with one punch she shatters the roof of the room and they all drop in front of Sasuke's bed. The missing-nin himself quickly turning around to meet their eyes.

"Sasuke-kun..." Sakura breaks into a wide smile

"Sasuke," Naruto sharpens his gaze at his 'friend'.

Sasuke wears his standard white, blue and purple. His missing eye covered by a black half-mask, the only real change.

With no hesitation, Sasuke raises his hand toward the roof.

*BOOM*

A wave of lightning chakra slams into the ceiling.

As the smoke and dust clears the midday sun pours into the hole he made in the roof.

Within the smoke Jin creates two clones, transparent and standing in the hallway on either side facing him and his team while Sasuke jumps to the ground above them, staring down at his former friends.

"Naruto...you came here," his voice was low and emotionless.

"You're my friend! Of course, I'm here to save you!"

Jin rolled his eyes as he let out a deep sigh, hands in his pockets as he leans against the back of the room waiting for this to be over.

As their talk of friendship and bonds finally ends, Sasuke jumps down toward Naruto.

*BANG*

Before Sasuke can even realize what happened, he got kicked into the opposite wall.

Jin intercepted his movement and kicked him away from Naruto, now standing in front of the blonde.

"Sorry, my mission is just to protect Naruto, I'm fine with you talking but can't have you killing him," Jin shrugs as Sasuke pulls himself out of the wall.

Everyone is silent as they try to figure out what the hell just happened for a moment.

"Jin, that explains why I'm still alive then," Sasuke realizes as he looks at the redhead.

"I'm leaving you to Naruto, I'm staying out of it mostly."

In an instant Sasuke reappears on the high ground, Orochimaru now standing at his side.

"Naruto, when I see you again, I will kill you." His cold voice permeates the room before all hell breaks loose.

Without warning two massive explosions go off on either side of the room. Sasuke and Orochimaru flicker away as the Konoha team are in the middle of the blast zone.

In one smooth motion, Jin grabs Naruto and moves toward Sakura and he holds both of them in a tight hug.

His chakra absorption barrier tanking the deadly jutus they were hit by as they both stare out in shock at all that just happened.

"Stay down!" he orders them as the attack continues to rage on.

As the flames finally stop, the three teens are horrified to see themselves now standing in a molten crater. In a mere minute, the stone and dirt were completely melted.

"YAMATO!" Jin calls out, receiving no answer in response.

"The captain..." Sakura lifts a hand to her mouth, her eyes filling with water as she looks at where he was.

Putting his hands together Jin focuses on sensing the chakra of everyone around him. Sasuke and Orochimaru were long gone, Yamato was alive, close, with his clone, unconscious, perfect.

"Naruto, Sakura, we need to go," He says in a somber tone, the underlying message clear.

"We can't leave Yamato!" Naruto doesn't want to believe what just happened.

"We need to go, I can't protect you two and fight them if they come back, get moving NOW," Jin takes command, the only one who could right now.

"N-Naruto," Sakura pulls on his sleeve shyly," he...he's right, we need to go."

"Here, I need to make sure they won't double back on us."

'Multi Shadow Clone Jutsu', three clones appear beside him.

"I'll catch up just let my clones escort you back, DO NOT STOP MOVING, got it?" he receives some hesitant nods in return.

"We---"

"Aren't in any shape to help me, you're exhausted from the Kyuubi chakra and Sakura has to keep you moving, trust me Naruto, Sasuke got out so you've got to live to get stronger and save him remember," this immediately got a smile from the blonde, even as the tears were flowing.

"Alright, Sakura-chan let's go," he says once as they all leave Jin to deal with the rest.

---A few minutes later elsewhere in the hideout...

The unconscious Yamato lays on the floor, with one hand on his face Jin drains all but the very last bit of the man's chakra.

Yamato's face shrivels up as if he'd been starved for days. At the very end, Jin extracts his soul with practiced ease, assimilating the energy within it, stealing relevant memories and knowledge.

"Huh, so that's how you do wood style, I suppose SHE could use your body for her project huh," he says and the man officially dies.

'Summoning Jutsu'

In a puff of smoke, the unconscious body of Kabuto appears, a senjutsu seal placed on his chest to allow the summoning jutsu to call upon him from the location of the clone assigned to him.

Repeating the process, this time Jin dictates everything he sees in vivid detail, a scroll of medical knowledge from Kabuto's perspective is made for Karin to use. The pieces are all coming together for Jin.

"Time to go home..."
