The Diary

About ten minutes passed, and Reverie was finally starting to calm down.

Her eyes looked around, "what is this?" Lifted her left brow.

Reverie's hands shook as she picked up the small notebook from the drawer.

It was just where the man had stood before she unleashed her anger.

The cover was nondescript, worn at the edges. She flipped it open, quite nervous as her fingers were still trembling.

The writing inside caught her eye. It was familiar, a handwriting she recognized but couldn't quite place.

She flipped through the pages, her eyes scanned the words carefully.

It was a diary, the entries filled with a woman's fears and love.

Her heart raced as she read, "Maiko watched me again today. I can feel his eyes on me, cold and calculating. I'm trapped here, and I don't know how much longer I can pretend everything is fine. The father doesn't want me to see my sons as I do. To him, they are just pawns in his game."
