Reverie's face was covered in blood as she made her way back through the streets.
The gazes of bystanders were heavy on her, but she paid them no mind.
Her focus was to return to Karyan and deliver the diary.
But as they neared Renka's house, Sin paused, a crease formed between his brows.
"I need to check on something," he said, his voice carried an urgency that she had not heard before.
"Alone?" she asked.
Sin nodded, "I won't be long. Take the diary to Karyan. He needs to see it."
Reverie watched him disappear into the forest before turning and pushing open the door to Renka's house.
The familiar smell of herbs and the quiet hum of conversation greeted her. There was Karyan, sitting cross-legged on the floor, whispering to his snake.
"You talking to your snake, really?" she teased, trying to lighten the heaviness in her chest.
