Fight Broke Out

Once the kindergarten next day was over, Evelyn urged her nanny to bring her out to the park. The woman showed hesitancy, but all the pouting and whining from Evelyn managed to convince Jenny.

Staying inside the small, closed up apartment made Evelyn feel suffocated.

Evelyn's eyes skimmed over the kids gathered on the kids that sat on the sand and played with their toys, building all sorts of creative artworks with the sand. There were two on the swings, and some went down the slides.

Evelyn's eyes then fell on the ice-cream truck parked not too far away, and it didn't take long for her mouth to water, especially when she saw a child holding a large scoop of ice-cream.

Her eyes sparkled.

She wanted.

Those large, doe eyes of her stared at her nanny pleadingly. Her small, somewhat chubby hands grabbed on to her nanny's hand and pulled them in order to attract her attention. Jenny looked at the girl who was yet to reach her waist.

"Nanny, can I have ice-cream?" she questioned softly— her tone sweet enough to make one's heart melt.

"Your mom told me that you have been experiencing toothache," Jenny apologetically stated, feeling guilty about letting the child down.

At this, Evelyn swung her nanny's hand back and forth before whining, "Nanny, please. Just once. I didn't eat ice-cream for so long. My tongue will rot away. Come on, can't you hear it complaining? It says that it will need ice-cream to be saved."

Jenny gave a short laugh at the child's amusing antics.

Putting on a solemn expression, Evelyn pressed her eyebrows and said, "You find it funny, nanny? This is a totally serious matter. How am I supposed to eat without my tongue in the future? My life will be all ruined."

Playing along with the child, Jenny thoughtfully said, "Right. How will our little Eve eat in the future?"

"Nanny!" Evelyn exclaimed at the teasing tone, slamming her foot on the ground.

"For the sake of you being cute, I will get you one. Stay here, alright?" Nanny patted on her hair.

A grin broke out on her face, and Evelyn expressed, "You are the best."

Once the nanny walked away, Evelyn kicked the stone under her feet. When it travelled a little further, she chased after it before proceeding to kick it again. She kept herself busy in this manner until she felt a strong force hit her knee.

It made her stumble backwards.

Lowering her gaze, she stared down at the black and red ball. That's when, a loud childish voice fell.

"Hey, little girl! Throw over the ball!"

Evelyn raised her head.

There was a boy, around five year old, standing, and he had his hands on his waist. Signs of impatience was there on his face. He had brown hair, messily scattered on his forehead, and a pair of hazel eyes. Bandages sat on his arm, showing off his tendency of getting injured easily.

Evelyn bent down to pick up the ball and walked over to the boy. The boy extended his hand, about to grab it from her hands, when Evelyn placed the ball behind her back.

Then, bearing a serious expression, she said, "Apologize to me first. You hit me with the ball."

Her eyes fell down on her knees. A red mark formed.

However, mischief crossed through the boy's eyes as he arrogantly responded, "I am not apologizing to a pipsqueak. Isn't it your fault for standing in the way?"

Evelyn was dumbfounded. What was with this rude child?

A frown formed on her face.

"When was I standing in the way? And I can stand wherever I want. Do you own this park?"

"Don't you know? This place belongs to me. Everyone knows that. Now, don't annoy me, or else I won't allow you to enter the park."

Angered by his words, Evelyn shot the ball towards his knees in order to make the matter fair. This made the boy bend down to grab his knee. Scoffing at him, she turned her back to walk away when she felt her hair being pulled.

An involuntary wince escaped her lips as she turned back, and seeing how the rude boy was behind it, she responded by grabbing on to his hair in order to get him to release her. With that, an intense fighting session started between both of them, leading to them falling down on the sand.
