Chapter 5: bothered

I rose early in the morning and decided to go for a run. My legs moved forward at an increasingly faster pace hoping that I could release stress this way. The sun has already risen by the time my legs stopped. 

I walked for a little longer to cool down, then returned to the apartment to prepare for another busy day at work. 

Like always, my lunch bag was already neatly placed on the kitchen counter. She must have risen early to prepare my meal. My mind suddenly flashed to the exchange from that night. It has been days since I poured my anger at her. I was unable to apologize, I did not know how to. 

I shook the thought and went to work. Time flew like it did on any other day, but the only difference was that something else filled my thoughts. I was bothered the whole time I sat on my chair. Every click on the mouse, my mind flashed thoughts of her surprised, and disappointed face. 

With one goal in mind, i opted to return home at 8 pm. I pushed the door open, my eyes immediately scanning my surroundings to search for a certain blonde woman. 

The house was once again empty due to another business trip Nicole had. It made things a bit difficult, since Ms. Thompson was the only person I could rely on while Nic was absent. 

I breathed an uneasy sigh, and decided to walk to her bedroom door. With a speeding heartbeat, I knocked the door. I softly called for her name and anxiously waited for her to open it. 

I was met with silence, so I decided to head back into my bedroom. As I was about to leave, the door was pulled open.
