Chapter 203- Finishing The Journey

After going around all the houses around the area, Liu Guanyi walked to the town hall again.

After waiting for a few minutes, Adori and Xin arrived here as well.

"So, how is it? Did you guys find something noteworthy?" Asked Liu Guanyi.

"Unfortunately not, Mr. Liu. I only found some more of these infected people that were still hiding in the houses." Said Xin as he shook his head.

"Nothing as well." Replied Adori curtly.

"I see, it seems we are all the same. Other than more of these infected hosts, there's nothing in here anymore." Liu Guanyi shrugged csually. "Well, let's just continue our journey toward the lake."

They left the town and rode Little White who was waiting outside the gate.

When they were entering another wilderness, Liu Guanyi prompted Little White to stop for a moment as he saw a few rabbits and squirrels.

Liu Guanyi simply approached them casually as they even moved toward him, not intimidated by his presence at all, which made them an easy catch, as soon as they wer close enough, he immediately grabbed them.

"What are you doing, Mr. Liu? Are we going to start another barbeque?"

"Are you stupid, Xin? We have had one not too long ago and we can last for days without eating anything. Why would you think of having a feast when we need to hurry up on our journey?" Adori spoke with distaste.

"Alright guys, no need to argue. I simply want to check how the parasites infect their hosts." Liu Guanyi answered as he took out the parasites that he had strored in small glass jars inside his lighthouse.

He held one of the parasites in his hand and put it in front the mouth of the rabbit he caught.

As if knowing there was something wrong, the rabbit began to struggle, which it didn't do even when Liu Guanyi had grabbed it. But to its unfortunate fate, he simply freezed its movement by using Reverse Shinsu Control.

No wonder this particular shinsu control was so useful.

Without being able to escape, now, the parasite could do whatever it wanted to the rabbit.

At first, even when it was put in front of the rabbit, the slimey parasite seemed want to run away as it slided away from it, or more specifically, from Liu Guanyi and company. However, he simply took it back and placed it in front of the rabbit again.

It still wanted to run away, which made Liu Guanyi put it in front of the rabbit again.

The action repeated a few times, no, even dozens of times.

It seemed no matter how many times Liu Guanyi tried to make the parasite to infect the rabbit, it would run away from fear.

The way he looked at it, the parasite seemed to be intelligent enough to be able to tell that he was extremely dangerous and have to be avoided at all costs, and infecting the rabbit wouldn't make it able to survive from him.

"Tsk, this damn parasite just wouldn't do what it should." Xin clicked his tongue in annoyance.

"Hmm, it seems that we won't be able to force it this way." Liu Guanyi said thoughtfully as he rubbed his chin.

"What about if you wound it first? It will force its insticts to choose survival at all costs and not run away instantly." Adori suggested casually.

Hearing her suggestion, Liu Guanyi's eyes glinted. "That's an excellent suggestion, as expected of you, Adori, you are always reliable." He smiled and gave her a thumbs up.

"Just do it quickly!" Adori replied with a blush on her cheeks.

Without teasing her any longer, Liu Guanyi did as she suggested and crushed half part of the parasite before putting it in front of the rabbit. It still moved away, which prompted him to crush half part of its body again, making it only a quarter of its original size.

The parasite seemed to understand that it could no longer run from him as it didn't try to run again.

It finally moved toward the rabbit. And after stopping in front of it, the parasite went into its nose, using its wriggly and flexible form to go into the small hole of the rabbit's nose.

Liu Guanyi repeated this to some of the squirrels he caught, before releasing the rest back to the wild. Then, he handed the ones that were successfully penetrated by the parasites to Xin.

"Keep them safe, Xin. We will observe the progress of their infection." Said Liu Guanyi as the yellow-haired youth nodded.

The three quickly resumed their journey.

Liu Guanyi had chosen to go through the wilderness because this was the fastest route to the lake.

At first there wasn't nothing wrong with the area. However, as they continued to progress further and deeper, they began to notice the eerie atmosphere and the strange silence.

Unsurprisingly, it was similar as to when they had stepped into the garden before.

"Looks like the inner part of this place is also infected by tha parasites." Liu Guanyi spoke calmly as he felt the eerie atmosphere.

"You are right, it seems to be strangely silent." Adori nodded.

It wasn't long before many creatures began to flock to their way.

Birds, squirrels, and most importantly, elks.

Yes, a group of elks seemed to be standing in front of them with their pale red eyes staring at them with hunger. Their body seemed to have mutated weirdly, with fangs protruding from their mouths and abnormal size.

"Prepare yourselves, Xin, Adori. It looks like we have to power through hordes of infected animals this time around." Liu Guanyi calmly said with a slight smile.

"Well, it brings back the memories when we were in the underground tunnles on the 75th floor." Adori spoke as she put her hand on the handle of her sword.

"I guess it's time for me to shine again!" Xin exclaimed energetically as he jumped off Little White and threw a shinsu attack that shot down one of the elks.

The attack marked the beginning of the battle as the animals rushed toward them and a white sword slash struck the area!
