Chapter 202- A Ghost Town

Before the now living corpses reached them, Liu Guanyi leaped forward and pushed his palm forward, creating a powerful blue shockwave that completely engulfed and decimated their bodies as their blood and flesh rained and dirtied the road.

He didn't dill dally any longer and moved in front of the town gate, before casually kicking it wide open, creating a loud noise. And as he had expected, he was immediately greeted by hordes of infected humans that rushed toward him after hearing the noise.

Without hesitation, Liu Guanyi welcomed their greeting with open arms as he dashed forward and struck the one closest to him in the head, crushing it into a mush. He threw a front kick on another one of them, sending it flying toward his fellow infected humans and crashing against them.

Liu Guanyi carefreely and casually stepped forward, going into the horde and letting himself being surrounded by insane infected humans that seemed to bent on killing him.

Every strike that he sent was efficient and lethal, neutralizing them instantly even with their inhuman biological capabilities. Even without using any shinsu control or martial arts, these infected humans were dying in droves just a few seconds after.

Adori and Xin also didn't just stay back and watch as Liu Guanyi massacred the infected humans near the gate. Instead, they went in their own ways, moving toward the other directions of the town as they also slaughetered any infected humans that attacked them.

Adori held her sword and brandished it with grace as she moved herself between the infected humans with absolute ease. Like a scythe cutting grass on the field, she cut them with extreme efficiency as their heads and body parts littered the ground she passed.

There was no flashy shinsu skill and power, only pure swordmanship that was honed after decades and decades of hardwork and dedication.

Xin didin't really entangle himself against the hordes of infectred humans like the two of them. Other than killing the ones that really got on his way, he avoided most of them as he climbed one of the building and got to the rooftop.

He wasn't about to slaughter those who were infected with the parasites. Instead, he was about to map out and explore the town from the rooftops, looking for anything noteworthy that could hopefully be obtained in this place.

Although there weren't any audible commnucation between them, they already knew each of their role exactly was. Such was the efficiency and understanding that had developed between them.

. . .

After a few minutes, Liu Guanyi cleaned the bloods on his knuckles with a cloth. Nobody other than him could be seen standing on the town hall as blood and body pieces littered the ground, and little lumps of slimy creatures that writhed away from him.

After taking a few more samples of the parasites for research, he strolled the now still and quiet town. As he looked around, he saw that everything was super messy.

The roads were dirty, the houses looked as if they had been pillaged with their doors broken and windows smashed. Patches of dried blood, obviously not from his recent slaughter, stuck everywhere on their walls.

Looking from this, Liu Guanyi could easily guess that all of this was probably the signs and traces of when then parasites began to infect the population of the town. Most likely, it all began from only a single infected person that spread the parasites to the other people.

Liu Guanyi walked into one of the house and began to inspect the inside.

The inside was in the same messy condition with the furnitures damaged and bloodstains. He inspected closer and found there was a trace of struggle around the room, probably the residents had been trying to fight against the infected hosts.

He went to check the last place he hadn't scoured yet, the bathroom.

The door handle seemed to be slightly damaged and deformed. It was as if someone had tried to forcefully opened it without regard of the object. Liu Guanyi tried it to turn the handle gently but it seemed to be locked.

Although the door wasn't transparent, he knew that someone was exactly hiding behind it silently.

So, he simply pulled the door forcefully.

In that moment, a figure slipped from the gap of the door and pounced at him.

Click!

But stopped right in front of him as Liu Guanyi clicked his finger.

Reverse Shinsu Control!

Looking at the menacing figure that pounced at him, Liu Guanyi saw that she was another infected host. Her clothes was ripped off in the chest, showing her injured and bloody breasts. Her neck seemed to have been bitten and ripped off, even showing the throat bone.

It seemed that she was locked in the bathroom.

Hence, she couldn't go out when he was causing ruckus outside.

From observing her injury and how she was locked in the bathroom, Liu Guanyi could guess that she was the one struggling against the infected in the room and probably locked herself in the bathroom to protect herself, as suggested by the broken handle.

However, she only managed to do so after sustaining grave injuries and died afterward. Well, not really dead yet as she was controlled by the parasite.

It seemed that the parasite had spread to her when she locked herself in the bathroom.

Now, thinking about it… Liu Guanyi wondered how the parasites infect their hosts?

Did they infect a host by going inside their body?

Like in the case of this poor woman, by going through the wound on her breast or her neck that the infected inflicted on her?

Very likely.

Hell, the parasites could move by themselves and probably survive long even without a host so they can infect someone by going into their body through the nasal cavity, mouth, and ears while they were sleeping.

Liu Guanyi had only needed to test the parsites on some subjects to ascertain his assumption.

Seeing that he had no need of the woman anymore, he crushed her to mush and quickly went to check the other houses.
