Reaching Out

A boy left all alone in the world after being abandoned by his mother in a poor clan that treated him harshly because he started showing signs of being different from other kids and the people around him. With him being ostracized more and more he became less and less of the cheerful young kid he use to be until eventually turning discreet and mute around others in hopes that they would stop being scared of him. Though that plan never worked out for him and, in the end he was left to strive on his own as best as he could in the environment he was left in. He explored the towns library and any books he could find in his Clan even if they were useless. Years on years of doing such things eventually led him into stumbling across a book that would help push him towards the thing he wanted the most. "The Basic Guide To The Astral Path" This book may not of been special to anyone in the long run but, it was to him because, it was his new beginning. With this new path available to him would he be able to push through all the obstacles and hardships waiting for him or in the end will he stumble and fall? Or will people be there to catch him if he does once again?

Two Different Plans

"Have any of you seen anyone wandering the halls?"

He knew it was quite a simple question but with how this place was laid out not many people were here. From what they had figured out so far this castle was at least the size of a city that their clan had split up into five different sections and currently they were in the middle of the second section where most people hadn't been to yet. Most were probably still back in section one picking up the trash that was littered around that area or just starting to walk into the second section. Each courtyard area was a signal for the sections that their Clan Leader had figured out for them with his ability. "So if it's none of these people then it's whoever they saw and from their reactions to this place none of them seemed to be the culprit." Finding that information out was a big reason why he let the bodies stay as they were.

"No..."

Hearing a couple no's while people shook their heads back and forth he patiently waited for everyone to finish thinking. He wasn't that impatient to find them as soon as possible since there were no other exits that were known to this place besides the ones near the entrances but if someone had the strength to do this much damage he doubted they would leave so soon. So they would meet eventually it was just a matter of when. "Don't let emotions control your actions." If he did he would end up making mistakes and maybe end up the commiting a mistake he would regret. That was something he wanted to avoid at all costs. "Mistakes." He was still growing but he already had his goal in mind, becoming the next leader of the Wolf Weaver Clan then maybe one day something further beyond.

Observing the red haired man, Laven watched his hesitation as he tried to answer while he got the answer he was looking for. "So he saw someone." Most Astral Fire users were quite blunt and had trouble hiding things even if they tried, so once he saw that slight change in his face as he flinched slightly trying to think about it he knew that he remembered someone regardless if he admitted it or not. "It would be nice if he told me some information." Searching through his memory Zilan tried to remember the man he bumped into earlier as he looked across the room. "That asshole." Feeling slightly depressed, he looked at the man in front of him as he recognized the Wolf symbol on his jacket. "I see...Maybe there's more to this story then I thought." Calming the depression he felt he kept himself on high defense as he spoke up.

"Yeah, I think I saw someone a little bit ago, why?"

He wasn't an idiot but he wanted more information and if he could tag along with their group for a little bit he could have a false sense of security in numbers for a little bit. "Maybe I can find that guy again and give him a good old punch in the gut." He still hadn't gotten his payback from earlier but if he found them maybe they could take on this group of wolves together. "Seems to be around forty or so here along with those corpses. That's a lot of them." Taking them all on while protecting his friends was impossible but with that guy's help maybe things could change and he could get some revenge on the wolves for attacking him. Maybe he was petty and just holding a grudge but what would have happened if he didn't show up on time before to help his friends? It made him shiver just entertaining the thought. "Hurt my friends and I hurt you." Snarling in his head he appeared normal on the outside.

"Ahhh. a man came and attacked one of our groups after stealing our loot so we would like to find him again."

"You let him escape amongst all of you?"

"I wasn't there at the time along with some of my men, we were busy scouting so I don't quite know the specifics beyond what I heard from an injured man that managed to survive. Unfortunately before we could get much out of him he passed out and we're trying to keep him alive."

"Still someone that managed to take on this many people doesn't seem weak."

"Maybe but we can't just let him escape. Our pride and friends' lives were taken after all."

Making up lie after lie, Laven tried his best to sound honest as spoke to the red haired man in the group with him as he tried to grab some of their sympathy. It would make it easier to get them to work with him if he had a more emotional reason to catch their attention. "No one likes losing friends after all. Learn to manipulate people's minds and find the way to their hearts. Easiest way to take advantage of them and get what you want." Repeating his masters words in his heads he kept his cool as a bit of sadness leaked into his voice along with frustration. This was a performance and he had to do his best in it just like a fight.

"That...is unfortunate."

Hearing the pain in his voice for a second Zilan was almost fooled until the image of the Wolf people from before came back and kept him on track. "Good actor." Thankfully he had some experience with these types of people or he might have been fooled and ended up dead afterwards. Which normally would have been fine to him but he wasn't alone anymore. He couldn't just recklessly die leaving behind his lover and friends even if he wanted to play the hero. He was past that part of his life but it was still a strong part of him. "Learning to live for yourself eh?" He could still vividly remember Marie's tears when she told him that after he almost died. "Easier said than done." Shaking that day out of his mind he felt the scar along his chest sting as he thought about what to do.

Enjoy.
