Small Detour

Landal's body fell to the floor as he passed out all alone in an empty room surrounded by memories. Once he woke up he would just think that he was dreaming and go back to what he was doing before. Xilo left the room the same way he entered making sure he left no trail behind. He wanted to stay for longer and explore more of the castle but after that talk it was probably best to return to everyone else. An itch of worry was creeping on him that he couldn't escape. "Lexia...Landal." They were two people that he didn't know if he could completely trust. "Is Lexia really lying to me?" With each of those thoughts coming together Xilo picked up his own pace.

Climbing up the Castle walls he jumped through the window and went straight for the exit. Thankfully it seemed like some people were tired of waiting for Landal's return so it was perfect timing to leave with them. Going through the door, Xilo went back to the painting he had escaped from as he remembered the earlier trace of darkness he had left on a particular person. "...I should go warn him first." He had almost forgotten in his panic and left the man all on his own. Following the darkness he left behind Xilo went down a few halls as he made his way to the residential area where everyone slept in the Castle.

"Looks like he's here."

Going down the rows of rooms Xilo stumbled across a rather fancier looking door at the end of the hallway. It had golden engraving all around it unlike all the other doors that were silver instead. "He's in here." Taking a quick look around Xilo made sure no one spotted him as he knocked on the door with a tad bit of nervousness. This could easily go poorly if he wasn't careful, so he got rid of his darkness hiding his presence. "Just act like you live here, simple." He just had to be confident with the way he acted and not seem off. There were so many people living in this Castle it was hard to recognize everyone's face off the top of your head.

*Knock Knock*

With a few seconds passing Xilo heard a voice calling out to him as he sat in front of the door.

"Hello, what is it?"

Opening up the door Derrek saw a silver haired man in front of him that he hadn't seen before.

"I assume you're Derrek right, I have something I wanted to tell you."

Raising a skeptical eye Derrek nodded as stepped outside, shutting the door behind him.

"Yes I'm Derrek, What family are you from and what is your purpose in seeking me out. No one was scheduled to see me today."

Watching him cross his arms Xilo rubbed his hand through his hair as he spoke with a little bit of awkwardness. He tried to get rid of the cold tone the best he could, since Derrek seemed like a nice guy he didn't want to appear rude. Xilo had already thought about how he would tell Derrek as he told him about what he had witnessed earlier. He had been hiding off on his own during some cleaning of the Castle when a group of men passed him. They had started spewing a whole bunch of things about a man named Derrek and all the horrible things they would try and do to them. Since he was just listening in, Xilo had run away when he got close and asked around about who Derrek was so he could tell him.

"They sounded really mean and so I thought it would be best to warn you ahead of time."

Tilting his head down Xilo acted like a shy coward trying his best to convince Derrek. Listening to his story patiently Derrek looked the man up and down until he eventually finished. He was trying to remember if there was anyone like this on the cleaning staff they had but he couldn't match the face. Since he also asked around about who he was, Derrek came to the conclusion that he was a new hire. "So they want revenge for getting beat by me?" That definitely sounded like the people that Xilo had described. Derrek didn't get worried about it though he just simply laughed it off as a chuckle left his throat.

"Haha, thanks for the warning but you don't need to worry about me. They've always tried to mess with me and I'm more than prepared. I appreciate the effort though, would you like to come in for a drink and relax? Think of it as my way of thanking you."

Faced with such a generous offer Xilo couldn't escape as he waved his hands in front of him and ran away.

"No sir, that's too good for me!"

Running away before Derrek could say anything else Xilo had finished that task and headed back to the painting to escape. All alone in the hallway Derrek didn't chase after the silver haired man as he sighed and turned around. Opening the door, he saw his now girlfriend sitting on the couch reading through a book. Once she heard his return she peeked her head up with a questioning look. Since she was close to the maids and butlers Derrek figured she might have a good idea about everyone there. Sitting down at his desk he brought up the man he had just seen.

"Any idea who he is, did we hire anyone recently?"

"No, We've been given strict orders to not hire a single person from the general public. Right now isn't a good time to be accepting random people or with little knowledge of them. Anyone could be working for Drahal's people after all."

"I assumed as much and the way he carried himself didn't make it seem like he was just a typical butler even though he tried to act like it. Maybe most people wouldn't have noticed but I have an eye for such things."

"Then why did you let him go?"

Shrugging his shoulders, Derrek answered that question easily.

"He took the time to warn me about dangers that could happen to you or me. Someone like that is doubtful to have any bad intentions regardless of their reason for being there and it could be seen as my actual thanks to him for that. Who knows maybe I'll meet him again and get to see the real him. I think it would be quite interesting, don't you think my love?"

Rolling her eyes at Derrek's carefree attitude she didn't agree at all.

"Whatever you say Derrek, just don't get yourself into trouble."

"I'll do my best."

Enjoy.
