Reaching Out

A boy left all alone in the world after being abandoned by his mother in a poor clan that treated him harshly because he started showing signs of being different from other kids and the people around him. With him being ostracized more and more he became less and less of the cheerful young kid he use to be until eventually turning discreet and mute around others in hopes that they would stop being scared of him. Though that plan never worked out for him and, in the end he was left to strive on his own as best as he could in the environment he was left in. He explored the towns library and any books he could find in his Clan even if they were useless. Years on years of doing such things eventually led him into stumbling across a book that would help push him towards the thing he wanted the most. "The Basic Guide To The Astral Path" This book may not of been special to anyone in the long run but, it was to him because, it was his new beginning. With this new path available to him would he be able to push through all the obstacles and hardships waiting for him or in the end will he stumble and fall? Or will people be there to catch him if he does once again?

Second Try

"What exactly do you mean by close to death, sounds oddly specific."

"Eh I just meant if you've felt like you've been in a life or death situation. I've been in a few and was wondering how someone more experienced in life would handle it."

Xilo made up a quick lie for his question as he waited for her answer.

"My family has kept me protected for a very long time so I was never in those kinds of situations. Sorry to say however I don't really have advice for that kind of stuff. Anything else though and I'll be glad to help. Other then that I was hoping I could ask something as well."

Since XIlo was done he didn't mind.

"You knew I've been injecting Astral Energy into your body and the others and never said a thing, why is that? Usually people would be very uncomfortable being searched like that and get mad. Yet you seem perfectly fine with it like it never happened, I thought you didn't notice at first until Xelfia said otherwise."

"So she told you then eh, I'm okay with it since I knew you were a friend of Katrin's. We all have trouble trusting new people as well so I figured I'd let it slide. I'm sure you found nothing though so I wouldn't mind if you stopped. We're trustworthy."

"After today's events I can definitely agree with that. I won't be doing anymore just don't go turning around and stabbing me in the back alright?"

"Don't worry. That's not me. You've had a long day though and it's getting late. I think you should head to bed now. I also need to go check on the girls as well."

"Doesn't sound like a bad idea. I'll call it here then and we can talk tomorrow some more if you'd like. Until then good night Xilo and thanks for today."

"Don't mention it."

Waving her off Xilo watched her get up and walk away. Her long slender back swayed back and forth as she strolled back to her house. "I really didn't want to do this." Walking away himself Xilo faked going back to the log house before shrouding himself in darkness. Jabbing his heel into the ground, Xilo did a complete turn and went straight to Lexia's house. The things she said while she was awake and aware were too hard to believe. He wanted to know what laid deep in her heart and hopefully it would give him some peace of mind. "Sneaking into a woman's house while sleeping, quite the pervert now eh Xilo?" The woman's voice mocked him as he got closer causing his face to go red a tad.

"No, it's not like that. I'm not trying to peek at her. I just want to try and use that illusion on her when she is sleeping. Currently she's pretty emotionally vulnerable so it should work just as well as it did on Landal."

"You explaining things didn't make what you're doing any better. In fact it just confirms that you're about to take advantage of her in a weakened state."

"Go back to sleep, Miss I'm always tired."

Althea dropped the mockery as she spoke.

"Trusting people and listening to their deepest thoughts are risky things. What would you do if the things she said to you were all lies? What if they're true? Keep in mind I didn't teach you this trick just to go snooping around on everyone that you don't trust. That's not how you grow as a person properly."

"So what are you saying then, that I shouldn't use it? What if she turns around and kills us the second I look away? There's no telling what is possible."

Xilow knew that he couldn't rely on it but he had to do something, he couldn't just leave it alone.

"Being paranoid about everyone you meet or cross by isn't good Xilo. I'm not saying not to use it, I'm just saying to trust your own instincts too. I want to know what you believe right now. Do you trust Lexia or not?"

A dark shadow stopped in front of the lake as it thought about what to say.

"I..trust her."

"Good, now go be a weird pervert!"

"Y-you!"

Althea giggled as she turned deaf ears on Xilo leaving him to his own devices. Left with no response Xilo was forced to walk towards Lexia's house in embarrassment. Sneaking in, Xilo passed a couple of the securities and made it inside. Once he was inside, he waited downstairs until it was time for Lexia to sleep. It didn't take too long though with how late it already had gotten. Once she was asleep in her bed Xilo double checked on her just in case as he walked up the steps. "Maybe she was right." Trying to tell himself otherwise, Xilo snuck into her room. There she was on her bed sleeping peacefully giving Xilo the perfect chance.

Darkness spread around the room as he woke up Lexia. Once she was awake Xilo tricked her into thinking it was a dream as he asked all the same questions before. Once he was done Xilo left the room without another word. He really didn't want to stay there any longer than he had to. Walking back down the steps Xilo slumped his shoulders as he replayed Lexia's second set of answers in his head. "She didn't lie to me, all her answers were the same." That meant his instincts were right, normally that would have been something to be happy about but he wasn't.

"Instead I just feel gross...like I failed somehow."

Leaving her house Xilo headed straight back to the girls, He was tired and just wanted to sleep at this point.

"Maybe when I wake up in the mourning I'll feel better. "

That was what he hoped at least, he would have to see in the mourning.

"Well at least we can trust her."

Enjoy.
