Debts

The bumps on the road set Levia at ease with a familiar feeling as they travelled. Along the way they picked up a few extra people for the ride for some extra cash. "A good amount this time." It had been a little while since their group had gotten a good chunk of money. Big jobs were rare and far between leaving them taking on anything they could for money. "We were almost out of money from our last big job." Most of the big jobs they were given were manhunts that big rich clans placed on people. They didn't want to dirty their own hands or they felt the target was beneath them. That was when Levia's group swoops in to take on the offer.

"Got another couple weeks worth."

Her last job had paid quite a bit however it had left quite a nasty taste in her mouth. Even with her years of experience being a mercenary it was still hard to people who were a similar age to her. "That silver haired boy must have barely been 18.." That girl that was with him was probably his lover as well. "She was older though..." Given their ages she was surprised by just how much strength they managed to have. Actually putting up a bit of a fight against her wasn't something many young people did. "That other girl coming back as well almost saved her." In the end though she had killed three people that day after trapping them.

"It felt like they had no clue why they were being attacked..."

She could still remember the boy's face as she pushed him down a cliff to meet his death. Full of anger and fear as he was forced to meet his end. "A horde of Astral Beasts awaited him." Even if he managed to survive the fall they would have devoured his corpse in seconds. The older red haired woman had lost her cool after that making the fight much easier. Then the other girl with them came running back after they tried to let her escape. "They fought together and died together." It had pained Levia to do it but that was her job. Her failure meant she wouldn't be paid and that was a death sentence for herself and her crew. They had just shown up at the wrong time and place.

"They wanted me to defend that area with our lives...a bit absurd. I wonder why they wanted so much protection for that place. It's kind of weird to horde so many Astral Beasts like that."

Those questions had plagued her mind yet never were asked, it wasn't her place to have an opinion. All she had to do was take the money and do her job. "One day I'll quit." The sun shined in Levia's face as she raised her hand to try and block it from her eyes. Feeling a slight shaking from her arm Levia turned to see Yanyan beginning to wake up after her long nap. Raising a hand she rubbed Yanyan's messy hair as she let her rise on her own. "If I can save enough money up that is." What would she do then though? She hadn't gotten that far yet, first she needed to pay off debts.

"Morning sleepy head, how are you feeling?"

Levia's hand glided past a few small horns but ignored them.

"Nnnnnmmmm Huh?"

Waking up, Yanyan opened her eyes as her brain slowly got to work. A part of her just wanted to fall back asleep with how tired she felt. That familiar voice kept her awake though as she rubbed her tired eyes. Looking around, the scenery had changed drastically from before. "Where?" From a forest meadow to going down a rocky mountain Yanyan saw Levia next to her. Recognizing her face Yanyan smiled as she opened up her arms and pressed herself against Levia giving her a big hug. Surprised by such actions Levia was left not knowing where to place her hands and just sat there awkwardly.

"Whoa there, seems like you've gotten back quite a bit of your energy. That's good to see, especially after your condition yesterday. I'm almost shocked that you didn't sleep longer honestly. You must have quite a lot of energy in there for such a small body."

Letting go of Levia after a few seconds Yanyan checked on herself.

"I've always been good at recovering quickly. It's one of my specialties."

"Is that so? Well don't push yourself too much just in case. I don't need you passing out on me again when we're so close to the next City. I need you up and ready for that, you hear?"

"Yup, yup. Thank you for worrying about me, Levia, hehe."

Giggling, Yanyan covered her mouth as she saw a flush of red cross Levia's face. She didn't say anything, however you could definitely tell she was embarrassed. "Cute!" Feeling her butt bounce as they travelled, Yanyan repositioned herself as she leaned against Levia again. Lexia was way more comfy than all the wood and metal surrounding her. Shaking her head at Yanyan's actions Levia took something out of her pocket and handed it over to Yanyan. It wasn't anything special, just a hunk of raw meat. It was all they had at the moment so it was just something Yanyan would have to put up.

Most people would have complained, herself included but Yanyan took it with glee and devoured it whole.

"Whoa there girl, take it a bit slower. Don't want to choke or anything."

"Huh? It's tasty though."

Tilting her head to side cutely, Yanyan didn't know what Levia was talking about.

"Never mind, just be careful with the way you eat. You're one reckless girl aren't you?"

Levia was beginning to see a pattern from Yanyan that could cause some trouble to herself in the future.

"Reckless?"

"Haaaa....you're lucky you're cute."

Rubbing her head again Levia focused on the path ahead.

Enjoy.
