Ancient Demons

Trees suddenly covered Xelfia's vision as she weaved through them. "This..place?" Uncertain where she was she tried to find some kind of exit. Any direction she went in never showed any signs of the forest ending. There weren't even any Astral Beasts running around. She was completely alone in this world no matter where she went. "It was like this before..." Glancing up she saw the sky turning dark as she decided to choose a direction and keep walking. After about twenty minutes Xelfia saw something up ahead that was actually different. Picking up the pace she made it to a small clearing where a woman stood all alone. Taking a step out she felt the grass brush her feet as the Woman noticed her.

"Hello, Xelfia."

Her Golden hair flowed in the light breeze while her yellow eyes examined every inch of Xelfia's body.

"Uhm, who are you?"

From what Xelfia could see they looked kind of similar when it came to looks besides a few differences like her bigger nose and more loose smile.

"Come sit with me, it's been a long time since I've visited this place."

The woman completely ignored her question as she sat down on the ground. Her light yellow dress was the only thing the woman had on as it dangled a bit off her body. Standing there for a moment Xelfia gave up being silent as she made her way beside the woman. Sitting down next to her Xelfia noticed the red dress she had on as well. "Pretty." A light breeze passed by them, moving the grass as they slightly changed colour for a moment. The night had fallen already as the sound of silence kept them company for a few minutes. Light breaths reached Xelfia's ears as she enjoyed the atmosphere. "Peaceful." She still didn't know where this place was or who the woman was but she didn't mind.

"You're an interesting girl, Xelfia."

"What makes you say that?"

Her deep charming voice caught every single bit of attention Xelfia had to offer.

"I ignored you and you still came to sit by someone you don't even know, it's funny. Most people would have attacked me, ran away or just stood there."

"it just felt like the natural thing to do, I didn't even really think about it."

Falling silent again the woman took a deep breath as she basked in the memories of this place.

"We're quite similar it seems. You know who I am though, I'm that pesky dragon you fought, Xina or well....what's left of her. Just a fragment of the soul that transferred into you before fading away. I wanted to talk with you a bit more. I didn't really know why at first but after visiting and seeing this place with my own eyes I think I finally understand."

Tilting her head cutely, Xelfia waited for Xina to explain. "The Golden Dragon, Xina." Even after waiting for a few minutes Xina never seemed like she was going to explain. The connection she had felt from before that shattered repair started to repair itself. "So comforting." Losing herself in the aura of Xina, Xelfia felt herself falling asleep. Her body fell to the side, knocking against Xina's. Jumping from the sudden touch Xina tapped Xelfia's shoulder trying to keep her awake. "Sleepy head." It was cute though so she forgave her as Xelfia opened her eyes.

"Surely you don't want to just sleep. Let's talk for a bit Xelfia."

"Sorry...I don't know what's up with me right now."

Her voice had no energy behind it when she said that however Xina just smiled.

"You're probably just really tired after forming a connection with that boy and taking on my final attack like that."

"What do you mean by forming a connection with Xilo?"

"Look up in the sky, see all that darkness? That's the boy you call Xilo's energy mixing with yours. Currently you're unstable but with a bit of time it'll solidify. I thought that race would have gone extinct long ago...but it looks like it's somehow still alive even if it isn't a perfect form, maybe a replica?"

"Wait, does that mean you know what Xilo actually is?"

"Yes, I have a guess and if it is right he's a part of an ancient race of demons, I did see a trace of human in him though so he might just be a replica. Back when I was alive and above ground they were called Zytal's. They were a rare form of demons that could form connections in the soul and link with others. They are a race with a lower breeding rate though and have very strict requirements to form these connections. Which is why they tended to associate with a breed of demon's called the Nepl's and were even mixed up with them quite often. The Nepl's had an easier time breaking past those conditions to fully unlock the potential of Zytals. That's just what I can remember though, there could be more I've forgotten.``

"So he's an ancient demon then?"

"Extremely doubtful, if anything it just seems like he has bits of their blood inside of him that carries that power. At the very least there's human blood inside him."

Hearing that Xilo had the blood of an Ancient Demon running through him was quite a shocker.

"Is the link a good thing?"

"It shouldn't be bad but anything beyond that I can't remember well, sorry."

"Don't worry about it, I just wanted to know more about Xilo that's all. He's been a bit of a mystery since the day I met him and I know that power haunts him everyday. Maybe this information could help him out a bit."

"You really like this boy then eh, that's good. I'm happy for you Xelfia."

A teasing smile passed by Xina's face as she looked down at Xelfia."

"T-thanks."

Feeling weirdly embarrassed Xelfia tried to brush past it to the next topic.

Very late today sadly.

Enjoy.
