A Mistake

Watching as it ran towards her she tried to come with all kinds of plans but even racking her brain couldn't help her figure anything out. The only thing different about her at the moment from Xilo was she was simply just stronger and even that one day would change at this rate and that thought scared her. The fear and anxiety she felt at the thought kept distracting her as she continuously dodged back and forth out of the way of the skeleton's jaws as she kept thinking but with her mind clouded she was slowly reacting slower and losing speed overall. At this rate she would lose.

Even Xilo was getting a little worried for her at this point. He figured it would have been easy for her but it seemed he guessed wrong. Thinking she might be injured he felt a sharp pain run through his chest but there was nothing he could but hope she could handle it. If worse came to worse he could throw himself at the thing with Tearia but that was a last resort method. He continued tracking her every movement as his heart rate accelerated.

"Is she going to be okay?"

Tearia's voice entered his ears but he didn't turn around to look at her or reply. He just kept all his focus on Xelfia. "Xelfia.." Watching Xilo from the side ignore her and stare so intensely at Xelfia made her feel jealous. Especially because from her guess Xelfia should be fine. So why was he worrying so much about his pet. It didn't make any sense to her. Shaking her head she went back to watching as well.

Xelfia was slowly being backed into the corner the further she dodged but there was nothing she could do at this rate. She could aim at the already broken arm but in this kind of situation that would require an insane amount of precision and setting up to do such a thing and with the skeletons unrelenting assault that was time she unfortunately didn't have. "Fuck." Stumbling over a tree branch that was near her she fell backwards as the Skeleton pounced and got on top of her crazily snapping it's jaw at her. In an attempt to hold it back and stop it from biting her face off she grabbed its face and pushed it away from her. But she was slowly being overpowered by it's sheer body strength that endlessly outclassed her own.

"RAAAAAAAAA."

Screaming loudly in her face she flinched at the sound and that was her fatal mistake. She lost her grip in the moment of her flinch and the skeleton lunged forward at her at the moment aiming to rip her neck right open and with the strength of its other bones she wouldn't be surprised if she could. Witnessing her getting jumped on, Xilo finally gave up holding back and rushed forward but it was already too late then.

*Bang*

A full brunt of energy blasted towards him. Panicking he tried to resist it but was only barely able to stay standing as he got pushed back further from Xelfia. Rubbing his eyes to see past the dust that

clouded his vision he slightly crazily looked for any signs of Xelfia or that damned Skeleton. After a minute or so of looking it finally cleared up and he saw the Skeleton a couple of feet from him standing up looking at him.

"What..."

Seeing that skeleton with no sign of Xelfia currently Xilo's heart raced like crazy as he imagined the worst case scenario as his anger at himself and the skeleton boiled past the edge quickly. If before he felt pain in his chest slightly then now he felt like his whole body was on fire as he felt his bones breaking from gripping his hand to hard. Blood slowly dripped from his hand as he stood there. At one point he even thought he was experiencing one of his spells again. But this time felt completely different from the other times it happened and he didn't feel like keeping control of himself in the slightest anymore even if he turned into a monster again.

Before he could release it anywhere though the skeleton in front of him started to move finally. Thinking it was his chance to finally vent all the sadness and anger that was currently exploding inside him he took a step forward getting ready to fight.

*Creaaaaakkkk*

Only to watch it slowly fall over and completely collapse in front of him in a pile of dust never to be seen again. Shocked at the sight he slightly calmed down but now that the threat was gone he scrambled anywhere he could to look for Xelfia to see if she was okay and hopefully not confirm his own worst fears. Racing around like a madman he started looking anywhere he could in the vicinity but he still couldn't spot any sign of her let alone anything else.

Meanwhile Tearia Stood still in the same place as before Frozen in shock. But instead of being upset or feeling bad for XIlo she felt happy. Happy that her potential competition was gone. She was also able to finally stop feeling jealous about her as well now thankfully. It had taken her completely by surprise seeing Xelfia lose but she didn't care too much for her in the end anyway. "My time is coming." Thinking of all the ways she'd comfort and help Xilo afterwards she was lost in her own paradise.

"I'll definitely take good care of him in your place, hehe."

Finally after a couple of minutes of searching Xilo found what he was looking for. A couple meters back he spotted a glint of red shining scales and spotted her familiar figure he had seen plenty of times in the past before unmoving near a tree. Panicking at the worst thought possible he quickly rushed to her side to see what was wrong.

"XEFLIA."
