A Demon Set Free

"Why do you wish to kill Astral Beasts so badly, you've never once told me. A few years ago you were trying to become friends with them and then you suddenly changed. Was that just a lie, an act that you were putting on to make me happy? I don't get it."

"You know exactly why, quit playing dumb for sympathy. Cestrin's king is the reason I hate Astral Beasts. I tried to like them, I really did. All those painful years I crawled on the ground just to please that man. Just for him to turn around and stab me in the back. He murdered everyone I care about. So why wouldn't I do the same to him. It's simple."

"Murdered them?"

Lexia had no idea what he was talking about when he mentioned people dying. She had no memory of people that were close to Landel dying because of Cestrin's King. "Everyone he cares about?" She was still alive so did that mean that she was someone he never cared about or was it something else. If he really did never care for her then that would explain his huge change to her at some point. He was probably done using and no longer had a use so he just tried to get rid of her instead. Maybe there was another woman out there that he loved that had died.

Thinking about it now wasn't nearly as painful as Lexia thought it would be. "He never loved me to begin with." Lexia's blade didn't grow weaker, instead it grew stronger as she shoved it right at him. Even if Landel didn't even love her, he would probably still hate her secret. "Maybe even more now." For years of life he had to spend time with the kind he hated without ever knowing. That kind of knowledge would be mind breaking to some. Catching her spear in his hands Landel tossed it to the side with a scoff. She still wanted to fight so hard even after all that, it was truly insufferable.

"If we're so keen on knowing answers then let me ask you this Lexia. Why is it that you're fighting me and trying so hard to do so? Can't you see how pointless it is."

"That's not for you to decide, watching you hurt our own people and even others that have done nothing wrong. I can't just sit back and do nothing."

"Pft, when have you ever been the one to step up nor should you care for our enemy in the slightest."

Lexia prepared herself for her next move, she was betting everything on this. She had baited out a bit of conversation from him and lured him towards the subject of Astral Beasts. "Here I go I guess." Even with her Hatred to Landel her heart still wasn't ready. "When was the last time I was like this?" She couldn't remember when she had even told someone this secret, now the thousands were about to find out. "How many will hate me here." Even if Landel didn't kill her, she was going to lose a lot of support from other people and gain a lot of hatred. She was about to become everyone's enemy, it wasn't easy in the slightest.

"Except them..."

Taking one deep breath Lexia was ready.

"Of course I care about them, they might not be our people but that doesn't make them any less than us or better. I'll especially want to help them when they are just like me. Fighting against you and not human."

"Hmph, so you finally admit that you truly are a demon. it took you long enough to finally say the truth to my face instead of hiding behind deceit and lies."

"A demon? No, I'm not a demon. I'm half Astral Beast just like them Landel. I belong to a family of half human, half Astral Beasts. I just never told you because I knew how much this Country and people hated them. Why do you think I wanted you to try and be friends with them, to understand them. It's because I wanted you to understand me as well and learn to maybe even love them. It's too late for that now though."

Pushing forward Lexia wanted to give Landel zero time possible to react to her. Lexia's spear pointed right for Landel's throat. Bringing it closer to his throat she wanted to slice his head off with one clean cut. Landel's blood froze as his mind registered what Lexia just told him. "She's...an Astral Beast too?" Landel refused to believe it at first, he thought she was just bluffing again. Until he saw her body start to morph and change in front of his very eyes. Fur started to align her skin as her eyes changed into small slits. She was transforming from human to beast with each passing second.

Once that all clicked in his mind he felt his cleanly break into two. That last piece of sanity that was holding him together completely snapped. There was no more holding him back anymore as the demon inside of his own heart was finally set free to reign terror on this world. Once he came back to his he saw a spear right in front of his face as a flash of panic surfaced on his face. Moving his body to the side he didn't have any room to block or get out of the way in time. "Fuck." The gap between their strengths couldn't save him from an attack like that, only minimise the damage.

*GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR*

A growl right out of her throat spread around the castle as her spear reached Landel's neck and tore right into his flesh. Blood flew past her face as she dug in the spear deeper. She had to try and kill him with this one attack. Her muscles contorted and grew as the fur on her arms stood up. Pushing as hard as possible she felt her spear reach the end of it's path. "Grrr." Growling once more she felt something smack into her face as she was blasted away from Landel without knowing what hit her. Flying threw the air she let go of her spear and hit the ground as she grinded against the ground, instantly passing out.

"Lexia!!!!!!!!!!!!"

Enjoy.
