Getting accustomed

~Right after last chapter~

"You know Jin. Tomorrow is the day you attend your first day of school," Bruce said, drinking his beverage.

"...Do you have to remind me? I am way too advanced in school concerning its subjects... Especially for my age group. I honestly think this is a waste of my/our time..." Jin said calmly.

"I know. But you need a formal education and more interaction with children your age, OTHER than Richard. All he does is make you pull clever pranks on me," Bruce said, with a bit of mock anger at his last few words.

'*laughing* I suppose Richard has influenced me to a small degree... but my mind won't change whatsoever... I'll outperform my pears and skip grades then leave. By then, I should have my degrees at 11-12 years of age. I have absolutely no plans for staying too long.'

"...You're right father, I will attend."

"Thank you for understanding Jin." Bruce said, smiling.

~The next morning~

I was getting ready for school with Richard. We both wore a block top and black school pants. Richard looked like a handsome young son a father would want... I feel like I am weirding out people now... but he essentially gave me a sense of accomplishment.

"Are you too ready?" Bruce said.

While Richard said yes, I simply nodded. We all left to go to the new school.

-------------------------------------------------------------

'So this is it, huh?...'

The school was extremely large. It looked like it was spread out in three sections... I saw elementary, highschool and finally, college students. This would be both a good and a bad thing.

Bruce drove into the elementary section, pulling over and telling us 'good-luck'. He told us both that our class was through that building, and our room '1A'. Bruce only told us that and then looked at me.

'Take care of Richard, Jin. He's shaking.'

Richard indeed looked a little shaken/nervous. I looked back at father. 'Okay, but you owe me'. Father nodded. Then we both (me and Richard) got out of the car. Richard was VERY close beside me, but not to the point of touching.

"Let's go Richard. I am sure class will be called soon."

He looked at me and nodded. As we walked, some of the children eyed us, but no hate within them, rather clear curiosity. As we entered the building, the stares became more apparent. It was to be a little expected. We were taller than most of them here, so we would most likely garner a bit of attention...

Looking around, I finally found our class. With the timing lining up perfectly, the class was called from its free period.

"Let's wait here for the teacher to acknowledge us."

A little while later passed, and the students went into the classroom. While they were entering, I saw a familiar red-headed girl pass...

Then, 5 minutes later, a relatively young female teacher walked towards the classroom. It was most likely our teacher since it was the only class left on this side of the campus...

Walking ever so closely, she smiled at us gently, reminding me of my late adopted mother.

"Hello there, you two must be the Wayne brothers? Richard and Jin, I presume. Please give me a moment to get the class ready."

I nodded, while Richard did so as well.

'That was a close one... I thought that the brown-haired one was a girl at first. He was rather beautiful, while the other was cute, but a boyish cute." The teacher thought.

Entering the class. She settled everyone down.

"Everyone, I am sure that if you have been observant. You all saw the fresh faces. Please come in!"

I signalled for Richard to follow behind me.

Entering the classroom too, we walked towards the teacher, stopping right beside her. But a notification popped up for me.

I was definitely gonna abuse the shit out of this, but now to get introductions out of the way first.

"Now, each of you tell the class your names," the teacher said.

Whispering, I told him, "Richard, you go first". I cant let him continue being this wimpy in crowds, it was unbecoming of the upcoming, Nightwing.

'Okay, Richard, don't. Mess. This. Up. This is not the time and place to have a meltdown.'

He breathed in and out. "H-he-hello Everyone M-m-m-my N-name is Richard W-Wayne"

'URGHHHHH!!! I definitely blew it!' Richard thought.

'He blew it so badly...' I thought.

The girls snickered a bit, and the boys laughed, but not to really make fun of him. Rather, they seemed understanding. At least these children were not pricks.

I stepped forward, getting ready.

"Hello everyone, my name is Jin Wayne"

"Good, now the introductions were over with, where should we place both of you... Oh! I know, why don't you two sit next to little Barbara?"

I nodded and Richard did the same, trying to play off his embarrassment, before I fully comprehended what the teacher said.

'WAIT!? Barbara? She goes to the same school as us? The coincidence is strong today. No wonder I felt she was familiar... I might as well meet the other cast while I am at it...'

Me and Richard both went to sit next to her. She glanced at us, then back to outside the window. I simply sat in the seat next to her while Richard sat next to me.

Sitting, I got comfortable putting my bag around the back of the chair.

"Are you really a boy?" She asked suddenly.

"Excuse me?"

"Are you really a boy?" she asked again, a bit louder this time.

'NOT, this again...'

"Yes... and are you really a girl?" I asked.

"that's what I keep saying. He's way prettier than most girls." Richard said.

I looked at Richard with a, 'please shut up face'. He simply shrugged teasingly.

"I see... and you! Of course I'm a girl... what makes you think I'm not a one?" She responded, a bit angrily.

"I can say the same thing to you... What makes you think I wasn't a boy?" I retorted.

"Tha-!" she said, thinking about her response, before blushing for a bit.

"...It doesn't matter, anyway. I'm Barbara Gordon. I'm 7 years old and I'll be turning 8 next year."

I snickered a bit, her reaction was bit precious. "My name is Jin Wayne. I am 6 years old and I will be turning 7 next year, and this is my brother, Richard Wayne and he is also 7, just like you."

"Hello Barbara" Richard said, smiling.

"Hello Richard" Barbara said. Responding in kind.

The teacher knocked on her desk, ready to speak. "Now pay attention everyone, take out your math textbooks and turn to page #5."

'Today is strangely peculiar... I wonder how interesting things at school will be...'
