Twins

Soon Kaji became one year old, today he and his parents were visiting a woman by the name of Temae, who would soon give birth. She was a young adult who had pink eyes and pink hair that was tied neatly behind her head and extended to her back. She wore a green kimono while lying in bed, while near her bed stood a man who had blue hair and eyes, he was wearing a dark blue kimono.

"How are you doing Temae? Do you need me to call the doctor?" Hanami asked her friend worriedly.

"No...It's alright...just send Quark...uhh...the baby is coming soon.." The woman said weakly, while sweat was visibly glittering on her forehead.

Quark wanted to go call the doctor, but it seems like someone was faster than him, as the chief of the village was the same old man who visited Kaji multiple times while he was still unable to walk around. The chef entered the house while a woman entered after him, she had long yellow hair, her eyes were brown, she was wearing all white while hurriedly barking out orders.

Everyone started moving about while Kaji was sitting on a chair next to the chief, he watched everything carefully, after all, it was his first time seeing how childbirth works in reality. He was interested in seeing it, and surprisingly no one said anything to him, no one told him to leave or stay at home, they took him with them, or was it because he was just one year old.

While everyone was moving around, the chef decided to talk with the boy, who was observing everything with interest.

"Little Kaji, do you know what is happening right now?" The old chief asked the boy.

"The lady will give birth to a baby!" Kaji said in a child-like manner, even if he had his memories of a previous life, his body was that of a one-year-old, he was affected by his body, but that was fine. He was happy with his life, and being a child again means, you don't need to worry about many other things, that you would worry about as an adult.

"Yes, and what does that mean?" The chief asked with a small smile.

"It means that the village will have one more member?" Kaij said in a questioning matter.

"Yes, but that means, you would get a friend too, wouldn't you?" The old man asked the boy.

"I would!" Kaji realized that there were no other children, just young adults, but now he was going to have someone to play with, he was happy, but at the same time troubled, after all, he didn't want to babysit some child. But soon the two of them heard Temae scream and grunt.

"Aghhhhhhh!" Temae screamed while everyone else was doing their respective jobs to help.

"Temae, breathe in and out slowly, and hold your husband's hand, Hanami bring the water basin a bit closer, please." The doctor started speaking while trying to calmly help the woman give birth.

After half an hour Kaji was exhausted just watching this but, what caught his attention was the newborn babies, there were two of them, they were twins. The two baby girls were born and were lying in her mother's arms. One had pink hair and red eyes, while the other twin had sky blue hair, light blue eyes.

While everyone had a shocked expression Kaji, jumped off the chair and ran up to the girls, he looked at them and thought that they were really cute. But the most important thing was their hair and eye colors reminded him of two other twins, but he didn't take it to heart and decided not to think about it.

"Honey, what should we call them?" Quark asked his wife, who had a tired expression on her face.

"Let's call the older one Ram and the younger one Rem…." the mother said before falling asleep.

"Sleep without worries, dear everything is alright now." Quark said and patted his wife's head gently before looking at his children one more time.

Kaji, on the other hand, he just heard two names, and he realized in what world he was reborn into. He froze, he was in the world of Re:zero, he now realized how wrong he was, this isn't just some fantasy world, this is a world filled with witches and beasts capable of wiping out every single living thing in the world if given the chance.

Now Kaji only had one thought in his mind and that was to get stronger, he needed to train, and become strong enough, if now he will just die in the massacre of the village when the witches cult attacked this village. While everyone calmed down, the village chef observed the twin girls with sharp eyes, it seemed like he had something to tell them.
