4 Development

After a couple of hours, the chief declared the news to everyone in the village about the twins. Because they were born with one horn each, it meant they were defective in the view of the Oni community, who believed in individual strength above all else, and were despised for it. They were to be killed as part of the custom of Oni to protect their pride as the strongest of the demi-humans.

Kaji knew what was happening, and, even if he could interfere he couldn't change a thing, but there was no need to, after all, they would still live longer than the rest of the oni race. Kaji just observed with everyone else as the chief placed the twins in a basket, while other villagers placed all sorts of fruits and, and dishes like it was a sacrifice to their god.

The chief prepared himself mentally, as two white horns grew from his forehead, he was about to take their lives. However, just before the execution, Ram displayed the potential of her power to protect them both, which shocked the community. The pink-haired girl created a wind-like repelling barrier, and stopped the chief from taking their lives.

That was what was seen by everyone present except for a one-year-old boy. The boy looked at this and instead of some sort of barrier he saw a baby cry out in fear, as her magic power overflowed and repelled the chief from even touching them. Kaji was thinking only of one thing right now, and that was to become strong enough to survive in this messed-up world without a problem. And he decided that to do so he must make sure that Ram keeps her horn and power.

Kaji had to get stronger, then from that same day, he started training his body and mind. Time passed and the villager would see him training, running around, doing pushups, situps, and many more exercises. His body got stronger every day, he would use most of his time for training, after basic physical training, he would swing a steel sword he found in his house that belongs to his father.

After his physical training, he would try to meditate and feel the mana inside of him, it took him some time to actually grab hold of his mana, but the moment he did, he felt it run throughout his whole body. He learned that to cast magic one needs to have a spell name, and know how to cast it with many more details. But Kaji found his own way of casting magic, he managed to strengthen his own body with magic, he could cast any type of elemental magic without trouble or need for an incantation.

It seemed like his knowledge of chemistry had played a big part in it after all. The knowledge of his previous life helped him develop himself faster than one could otherwise.

While Kaji did train to become stronger in every way he could think of, he didn't forget to go and visit the twins. He would visit them every day to see how they were doing. The two girls actually got used to seeing him every day, but unknown to everyone else, Kaji would show them some magic from time to time, he loved seeing their eyes sparkle as they watched him create mini dragons from water. He would make the dragons made of water fly around the crib where the girls lay.

Tome continued to pass and Kaji was five years old he, was stronger than any other oni in the village. After all, after seeing the boy train every day for more than a couple of months, the chief decided to teach the boy himself. And through his teaching, Kaji learned proper martial arts and swordsmanship, he learned how to take a hit, and how to use the opponent's strength against them.

The chief of the village was surprised at the speed the boy was, growing. Kaji absorbed all of the knowledge like a sponge, and at the age of five, he had already absorbed everything the village chief could teach him. The chief was happy, after all, they had a by of such talent, and let's not forget Ram, who would show incredible skill in magic.

Kaji was finally five years old, he was happy with his growth, but even though he trained every day, he would still spend some time with Rem And Ram. The two of them grew on him, and right now he was on his way to see them. He didn't need to go far, he found them in the backyard of their house playing with a ball, the two were kicking it around while running around.

But the moment he entered the backyard the two girls noticed him immodestly, the moment the two of them saw him, they ran up to him and hugged him. Kaji hugged them back while patting their head.

"Kaji-ni!" The two girls shouted while hugging him.

"So how are the two of you doing, did you learn anything new today?" He asked the girls.

"Ram learned a new spell today." Ram said excitedly while Rem looked away.

"That's great Ram, and what about you Rem?" Kaji asked the blue-haired girl, but got no response.

"What's wrong Rem?" He asked while sitting down on the grass, he patted the ground next to him.

Rem and Ram sat down next to him, Ram was sitting on his left while Rem was sitting on his right. After a couple of minutes of silence, Rem spoke.

"Well, my sister is really good with magic, while I can barely do anything with it. I try and try, but I can't seem to do what Ram can…." And after listening to her, Kaji gently smiled and patted her head.

"You know, maybe you have some other super amazing talent, maybe you will be the best chef the world has ever seen, or maybe you're really strong with a weapon. There are many things, that we might not be able to do in our lives, but everyone has some sort of talent Rem, and you just have to find it. If you want I will help you find it, and I'm sure Ram will to" Kaji said to the girl while smiling.

Rem listened to Kaji, she couldn't help but want to find the thing she was great at, she wanted to be like her sister, but if Kaji was helping her she would try it. After all, if he said she has some sort of talent, then she does. To her, Kaji was the only other person, that she could talk to, and spend time with, that wasn't her sister. He would always come, and play with the two of them, he would encourage them, reprimand them, teach them different things, comfort them when they felt sad.

And so the three of them spent their time talking and trying to figure out what, Rem had a talent for.
