Death all around

Kaji and everyone else heard the alarm bells go off warning the village of danger. The adults in the village hurriedly took up arms and went outside, to see what the situation was all about. Kaji didn't know what to do, after all, it was his first time in such a situation he knew what he needed to do, but he still froze. At the moment he didn't notice how Kurai and Quark took up weapons and went outside.

"Let's go Quark, Hanami make sure the kids are safe!" Kurai shouted while taking up a sword from a shelf, and leaving the house.

Hanami turned to Kaji and spoke. " Kaji make sure the girls are safe alright?" She asked her son.

"Yes…" That was all Kaji could say, before his mother and Temae walked out of the house.

"NOO!" he said as he followed his parents outside the house.

And what he saw shook him to his core, after all, he placed traps, informed the chief of incoming danger, and many more things. He did that so he could save as many oni as he could, but it seems all of his work was for naught. Because, the moment he looked outside the house, he saw flames dowering houses, and everything in their path.

"Kaji, what's wrong?" Asked Rem from behind him.

He looked behind him to see the twins looking at him with questioning looks. He didn't know how to respond to her question as he looked back at the burning houses. The girls came closer to him and looked outside, the two of them were scared, he could tell. The girls held onto his yukata, while their hands trembled, now Kaji didn't have a choice, he could only stay here and protect them. Leaving them here would only endanger them, and taking them with him would do so too.

Kaji continued to look outside to see The cultist fighting the oni. But the thing that baffled him, was that the oni were stronger than the cultists, but the cultists had way more people, one could say they were just pouring into the village, like there was no end to them. But slowly the oni who fought were being overwhelmed by their opponents.

Soon he saw the villagers who he knew dying one after the other, he saw how the cultists had no care for themselves. He continued to watch when suddenly a cultist out of nowhere appeared before him. And without noticing his instincts kicked in, as he punched the head off of the cultist's shoulders. The moment he did so more of them showed up, Kaji didn't hold back as he released wind blades ripping them to pieces.

"Stay behind me!" Kaji said while looking back at the twins. the moment they nodded he turned back towards the burning village.

As he continued to rip apart the cultists who approached the house, he saw Quark running towards them covered in blood. He was badly wounded, but he held on and ran with all his might towards where his daughters were. But to his surprise, a dagger hit his leg piercing it and making him fall to the ground.

"DAD!" Shouted Rem, and Ram saw him fall, but Kaji held their hands not letting them run to him.

"Kaji, let go, our Dad...he!" Before Rem could say anything else he pushed the girls behind himself and blocked a dagger with his arm.

The blade just bounced off of his arm not doing any kind of damage. Kaji frowned seeing the cultist in front of him, he quickly released a blade wind that cut the cultist in half. The village was in utter chaos, the smell of iron from all the blood and smoke created a disgusting smell that was surrounding the village.

"Rem!" No matter what, make sure to protect yourself, and Rem!" Kaji said loudly while not turning back.

He had a bad feeling, like something will happen, something he didn't want to happen. And then he saw it, dead bodies of oni falling near them from some sort of explosion. His eyes started to water, after all, he saw his father's and mother's corpses falling onto the ground, right in front of him. They were his parents, he spent the whole nine years with them, and now they were dead just like that.

He could have stopped it, were the only thoughts he had, his emotions were all over the place. Kaji couldn't help it as tears started rolling down his face. Ram and Rem hugged him, while crying, after all, the two so as their father tried to struggle, to go to them, to make sure they were alright. But instead of reaching them, his head was pierced by another dagger, painting the ground red with his blood.

A couple of minutes after, this one could see two oni children massacring every single hudded figure they saw. After a couple more minutes, Kaji calmed down, and calmed Ram down. The two looked at the burning village filled with corpses of the villagers and cultists. Rem, seeing them fine, ran up to them and the three of them hugged, while tears fell from their faces.

"And what, do weeee have heereee?" A voice sounded from above them, Kaji looked up to see a man he could recognize, a man he didn't like one bit.
