Chapter 21

"You look happy." Chase noted as I ran a comb through my hair once again, making sure it wasn't tangled at all. How long has it been since I groomed them? They look so much better now.

"I have no idea what you're talking about." I feigned innocence as I bent down to put on my boots.

"Sure you don't."

I ignored the way his words dripped with sarcasm and took one last look in the mirror before rushing out. I bumped into Ash but he quickly grabbed my shoulders before I could fall backwards.

Why is he always here?

"How come you're always here?" I voiced my thoughts as he ran a hand through his scruffy blond hair.

"He just won't leave me alone." Chase whined from inside the room.

I laughed, "Ash, you didn't change much. When you were a kid you used to follow me around and now you found Chase."

His ear turned red as he pouted , "I know no one else here and besides you and hunter are always busy together."
