Since kelvin and Dracul where the only seeded student during this year and the other seeds of previous years had already advanced to xiantain and above, kelvin Dracul naturally had more opportunities to become together and got closer since they both used cross swords(kelvin started using cross swords after the test and he used the credits he got from submitting shave to the military to build a custom sword) and didn't need to attend classes since they had access to restricted and precious knowledge in the library and could meet any instructor for explanations at any time. So most of their time was spent sparring together or cultivating separately. Since they just got to level 9 they decided to spar to consolidate their realm and see if they could get insights in their law runes, it is as a result of this that they were sparring in the valley.

They maintained putting pressure on each other's sword before they both tactically decided to jump away before continuing to attack each other with pure swordsmanship. To be fair kelvin wasn't all that talented in the sword but with his powerful soul and control over his body he could tie with Dracul who was a genuine genius who had gone through and mastered a bunch of swordsmanship manuals he could find in various dojos before he was 12 and joined the military academy. Although Dracul wasn't from a wealthy family he was from an average home and his parents had known he was a genius from young so they put all their meagre efforts in providing in his needs and enrolled him various sword dojos where he quickly learned all their manuals and formed his own set. Kelvin just used his familiarity with his body and sensitive soul to predict sword moves and find the easiest way to move his sword to get maximum power. Kelvin started suppressing Dracul as his sword started gaining momentum and friction from their frequent collisions, as kelvins sword moved through the air the friction generated from his sword moving against the air generated flames as he inspired his incomplete rune, Dracul could only passively defend as he hadn't really been sure of what law he should form with the fragment of his gravity blade talent, after all not everyone was like kelvin who was from a different world. As Dracul kept defending, kelvin started to feel Dracul seemed to be intercepting his sword easier than before, kelvins eyes widened as he noticed Dracul was undergoing enlightenment, kelvin started getting anxious and increased the frequency of his sword strokes but it was to no avail, dracul's indifferent silver eyes glowed purple with what seemed to be excitement as kelvin was sent flying into the valley wall. Kelvin stood up coughing and looked as Dracul was approaching with each of dracul's steps kelvins body was getting heavier it seemed he didn't need to use his blade to control gravity anymore he could now use it more easily, kelvin guessed after this battle Dracul would retreat to breakthrough to xiantain since he had almost found his own law. Kelvin took a deep breath and struggle to get up despite the massive gravity weighing upon him, kelvin found it hard to keep standing talk less of fighting so he decided to use the move he had discussed with the medical instructor in the academy, around 3 month after kelvin had come to the academy he tried to recreate gear1 luffy's move from one piece which could increase combat power temporarily but kelvin couldn't make it work he could only increase the temperature of his body and all that brought was pain and sweat so he went to the medical instructor to get more medical knowledge cause he felt that was where the problem was coming from, while getting instruction fom the medical instructor kelvin put forward his ideas and the instructor was intrigued, kelvin got advice that the move though theoretical should be achievable in reality with the right law. Kelvin had forgotten all about and labelled the move as a failure until when he was struggling in dracul's gravity and he felt the motion of his blood pumping through his heart and his mind produced a flash of inspiration.(the sign ' means talking in the mind) 'Yes, the heart pumping produces motion and friction cannot be generated without motion, so the laws of friction contain motion' kelvin laughed out loud as he caught that rare trace of insight, as he laughed his muscles started squirming as his skin turned red and steam started coming out of his pores, kelvins eyes flashed as he smiled and single word came out of his lips "gear".
