The Extraction

In an unknown part of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. four people could be seen lurking in the shadows as they silently moved closer to a small dock.

As soon as they reached close enough to their desired location, they split up into different groups, each approaching their intended location from a different angle.

"Alright, I'll take a point here and hold in case you need backup. Sparks and Cypher, you approach from the front. Krov, await Deadshot's report and see if you can find another possible point of entry." A heavy and raspy masculine voice instructed them.

[Voice Communications have been activated]

"Bird's eye, this is Nightshade. How's the view?" The same heavy and raspy voice sounded from the communication device as soon as the connection was established.

"Bird's eye to ground, the skies are clear. What's your status?" A feminine robotic voice responded calmly and professionally.

"It's so quiet around here. Hey Nightshade, you sure we are in the right place?" A young woman's voice, feminine and concerned, chimed in with her concerns.

"I'm sure Nidchaya. This was the last location that Tariq was able to track them down to and I am sure we will find them here," The captain replied.

"Nightshade, as I've requested before, please refrain from using our names outside the base. It defeats the whole point of maintaining anonymity." A chilling yet calming masculine voice sounded from the communication device.

"Yes... Yes... I know. Forget about that. Have you located the suspect?" Nightshade replied

"Indeed. Cypher to all stations, I have a signal. Our target is headed east, entering sector 10." Cypher broadcasted the alert to every agent on the mission.

"Sparks, this is Krov. Confirm you have target visual." Krov reached in through the comms to attain confirmation before advancing forward.

"Yup, gottem. They're entering... looks... like a warehouse." Sparks replied.

"I see it. Ground team, collapse and converge on sector 4." A light and charming masculine voice with a thick European accent spoke through the comms.

"Bird's eye on the route. Descending to surveillance altitude." The feminine robotic voice announced.

"Let's do this," Nightshade said.

"Closing in," Cypher added.

"Deadshot to team, I'm in sniper position on a neighboring rooftop northwest of the warehouse," Deadshot announced his location as he prepared to provide recon and assistance from afar.

"Do we have eyes inside?" Krov questioned.

"Hmm... No internal feed? This bird's little nest is off the grid." Cypher responded as the tablet he was holding wasn't able to hack any of the surveillance equipment inside the warehouse.

"Then we are in the right place," Nightshade said.

"I'm scoping a skylight in the far corner. Possible access point." Deadshot informed the ground team.

"Leave that to me," Krov stated as he began moving forward at a strong pace.

"Establish visual then hold for team execute. Do not engage the target." The feminine robotic voice cautioned the ground team.

"Copy."

"Cypher, how is the emergency chatter," Krov asked.

"Nothing yet. We are ghosts." Cypher replied.

The ground team continued to close in with Deadshot keeping a watchful eye on all exit points to make sure their targets didn't escape.

"Cypher's with me at the south garage." Sparks reported in the comms.

"I've got north. Krov?" Nightshade added.

"On the roof. Entering now." Krov stated as he jumped into the warehouse from the broken window in the skylight.

"Krov, you've dropped off my visual, but the tracker in your suit is holding. You are go." The robotic feminine voice responded.

"The eastern half is a warehouse. Ten aisles running north-south. Still no sign of target. I see offices on the western side. Empty. I'm moving in for more recon." Krov relayed the information from inside the warehouse.

"Negative, hold position. Sending Cypher in to join you." The robotic feminine voice ordered Krov.

"Deploying drone now," Krov stated

"Negative Krov, hold the position." The robotic voice reinstated the order.

"There's a corridor. Doors on each side." Krov said.

"Bird's eye to Krov. You are to hold your current position and wait for backup. Confirm order." The robotic voice tried to contact Krov.

"I'm entering the first office." Krov continued to relay information.

"Jävlar." Nightshade shouted. (Swedish for "dammit".)

"He can't hear us." Sparks added.

"Birds eye to Krov, do you read me? Krov, come in. Respond." The robotic voice tried again and again to reaffirm communication with Krov.

[NO RESPONSE]

"That is less than ideal," Deadshot stated.

"Cypher, Sparks, advance to reestablish a connection with Krov. Maintain stealth protocols." The robotic voice ordered.

The two agents quickly rushed towards the main gate of the warehouse, ready to enter and make sure their friend was still safe.

"Electric locks on the gates," Cypher said in disdain.

"I got 'em." Sparks said as blue lightning released from her fingertips, short-circuiting the lock and opening the main door.

"Let's find our friend," Cypher said.

"Teka- What was that?!" Sparks said. ("Teka" means "wait".)

"You are both showing elevated vitals. What's happening?" The robotic voice inquired after witnessing Cypher and Spark's elevated heart rate and temperature.

"There's something in here. Trailing us. What is that?" Cypher said with a bit of curiosity as he peeked forward into the shadows in front of him; however, he was too late.

"Cypher watch out!" Sparks shouted as she opened fire on the pair of red glowing eyes and a giant red mouth that jumped out from the shadows, right at Cypher.

"Ah! I can't see!" Cypher exclaimed.

"Sparks? Where are you!" He exclaimed in fear as he couldn't see anything around him despite not feeling anything covering his field of vision.

"Cypher! Sparks! Report!" The female robotic voice ordered.

"Athena! We're blind in here!" Sparks shouted.

"Danger close, danger close!" Cypher gave a callout.

Sparks opened fire in the direction she assumed was the enemy based on Cypher's callout, but all the bullets hit nothing but empty cargo crates.

"I'm out! Reloading! Watch my back!" Sparks shouted.

"Hang on, I'm coming in!" Nightshade shouted.

Nightshade threw a grenade right on the side of the west wall, blowing a giant hole in the warehouse.

*BOOM!*

"Bird's eye to Deadshot! Do you have any visual?" The robotic voice asked.

"Merde. Negative, adjusting angle." Deadshot replied before teleporting to a new position to get a better angle from one of the windows.

"On your ri-" Krov's voice was heard from Spark's communication device for a split second before being cut off.

"Krov! Come in!" The robotic voice exclaimed, hoping to regain contact with him.

"On your right!" Krov shouted again.

"I can't move! Get it off me..." Nightshade shouted as he was stuck in place by what seemed to be like ropes in the dark.

He had blown a hole in the wall and jumped right in the middle of the action, but all he could see was black fog enveloping the room. The moment he moved into the dark mist, something latched onto his body and restrained him from moving.

"Another one incoming!" Krov shouted as another monster with giant red eyes and mouth jumped from the shadows.

"I've got an angle, callout my targets!" Deadshot called out.

"Nightshade's 8 o'clock, ten meters!" Krov shouted.

*BANG!*

"Hah! Direct hit. Helvette!" Nightshade shouted. ("Helvette" is Swedish for "hell")

Just as the monster was dealt with two more showed their face from the shadows in front of Nightshade and Krov, grinning wide and revealing their giant red glowing sharp teeth.

"Fall back. Fall back!" Krov shouted.

"Moving up to reinforce," Deadshot said as he began moving closer to the warehouse.

"Covering!" Nightshade shouted as he began firing shots in the dark, trying to kill as many monsters as he could.

"Sparks! Get out of there!" Nightshade shouted, worried about her safety.

"Wait! There they are!" Sparks shouted as instead of running away, she spotted something amidst the shadows.

"Where?" Nightshade asked, overwhelmed by the enveloping shadows.

"The target's on the run! They're outside!" Sparks shouted as she was able to catch a glimpse of someone running away from within the darkness.

"Setting the carrier to auto! I'm going in." The robotic voice shouted.

"Athena negative, you're too high!" Krov shouted back, but it was too late.

"I'm sorry guys, but you won't be able to use your powers for a while... Initializing Superssant Protocol!" The robotic voice shouted.

The ramp of the aircraft floating stealthily in the air opened and a humanoid-looking machine with female features jumped out.

She jumped off the ramp and fell right through the skylight of the warehouse before crashing through and landing on the ground.

Her body was pulsing with energy that was waiting to be unleashed and the moment she landed on the ground, it erupted into a giant pulse of energy that quickly spread outwards.

The female robot used rocket boosters under her feet at the last second to slow down and ease her landing on the ground.

"Freeze! Hands in the air!" The female robot shouted while aiming a rifle in the dark.

The dark shadowy mist quickly dispersed, revealing a singular woman standing in the middle of the warehouse with her hands in the air.

Sparks, Krov, and the others were knocked down on the ground from the pulse that Athena had thrown which had temporarily suppressed their powers.

"Don't move!" Krov shouted as he was the first to recover and quickly apprehended the woman.

"Is the package secure?" Deadshot inquired from the communication device.

"Target secured, ease down. We got her." Athena responded to Deadshot.

"Hold on. Was she alone?" Sparks questioned, still puzzled as to where were the rest of the people that they were fighting.

"She's a Celestial," Athena stated.

"My scanner's picking up chatter. Police incoming." Cypher informed the group.

"Something about this feels off," Krov stated, suspicious of the fact that the woman would just surrender without resisting a bit.

"Of course it does. We didn't find the target, she brought us here." Deadshot said as he finally reached the warehouse, the only one unaffected by the suppressing grenade that Athena threw as he was still out of range.

"You think it was a trap?" Nightshade inquired.

"Hey, we have to move," Cypher said with a tone of urgency as the sounds of police sirens could be heard coming closer and closer.

"We will find out the truth but for now we have to get out of here. Everyone rendezvous at the aircraft. We're taking her back to base for interrogation. Move out." Athena ordered before flying back up to the aircraft using her rocket boosters with the captured woman on her shoulder.

"When did she get the rockets?" Sparks asked, clearly a bit jealous that she couldn't fly.

"Ha Ha! You can ask her about it once we are safe, come on! Let's roll out!" Nightshade said.
