Frustration

Staring at the ominous artifact in front of her, Rielen looked displeased.  Even after an extensive search of the area around the blast zone, no other evidence could be found.  'Did the fire destroy everything else?'  What was worse, after reading every book in the office, there was no mention of an ancient enemy.

At least not anything that a Spirit would fear.  She had asked the Spirit numerous times to help her, or tell her more about the enemy, but all of her pleas went unanswered.  'How am I supposed to defeat this enemy if they won't even help me?'

She had chosen this life to be with Eon, but it seemed to be more trouble than what it was worth.  'It wasn't really a choice was it? The Spirits knew that I couldn't give up on Eon, and just dangled other opportunities to make it feel like a choice.'
