109 Choosing a song from 80s

For a moment, Jun was indeed lauded for his heroic act but the pregnant woman's scream brought attention to her.

Jun saved a girl and might have earned enough appreciation from the public but he wasn't done yet. Upon giving back the kid to her mother or whoever that model-looking woman is, he saw another victim being slowly helped by a couple of ladies. He offered his services right away.

Going there, he lifted the woman with ease and carried her to the vehicle owned by a gentleman who wants to help out in taking her to the hospital as she can't afford to wait for the ambulance.

Jun wanted to tag along with them out of worry but upon remembering that he has a live music show to attend in the afternoon, he didn't get into the car and let them go on their own. Well, there's a middle-aged woman who was accompanying the pregnant woman. So, he didn't feel that his presence is necessary. Once the vehicle is out of sight, he suddenly remembered something, "Oh, Sh*t, my sunglasses."

He turned his attention to the road only to see the traffic continued and managed to take a glimpse of a destroyed glass on the road. It probably happened with a vehicle running over it.

"My 72500 won (~56$) Shades…" Jun felt like crying as the glasses were quite expensive, at least for him. Not to mention, it hasn't been a week since he bought them.

As Jun was sighing inwardly, convincing himself that their worth is lesser than saving the life of a kid, he heard the woman call him from behind. "Excuse me."

He turned around to see her. Since was standing close, he could see that she was beautiful. She was taller than most of the ladies that he met in his life.

"Thank you." She bowed, "if not for you, I…" As she was about to tear up once again, imagining the possibility of something happening to the kid, Jun waved his hand with a smile, "it's alright." He then lightly pinched the kid in her arms, "you shouldn't run to places without asking your mother, okay?"

The kid nodded twice while a trace of surprise appeared on the woman, "Eh? Ah, I'm not her mother. She's my friend's daughter."

"Ah, I'm sorry." Jun apologized right away upon misunderstanding the situation.

The 173cm (5ft 8in) tall woman then introduced herself, feeling that the guy might not know her, "I'm Jang Yoon-Ju. And this is Park Na-Eun."

Just as she expected, Jun introduced himself in return as he has never heard her name, "I'm Han Sung-Jun." "Hello, Na-Eun-ssi…" He shook the little hands with a smile. The little girl let out a grin. It is a beautiful smile at one glance, indeed.

Meanwhile, Jang Yoon-Ju felt like SungJun's name does ring the bell but she couldn't quite put her finger on it. Soon, they parted their ways like strangers without having any idea that both of them will meet Jun again on separate occasions in the future.

Jun returned to the dorm, which was still empty, and went straight to the recording room. After setting up the camcorder, Jun remembered that he cannot look half-hearted in the video.

He went upstairs, had a shower, changed into some nice clothes, and returned to the recording studio downstairs.

Then, comes the hard part. What types of songs should he cover? After thinking for a bit, he decided not to cover any Korean songs. Of course, he doesn't want to restrict his future YT channel to just song covers. Jun wanted to include his workout, cooking, playing, instrumental covers, etc…

"Okay, let's see… the current pop stars' songs are all well known and there will be thousands of covers on them in YT. Even the other idols will also sing those. It's just boring to sing and upload them just for the sake of views. They won't be memorable either.

But, at the same time, I don't want to cover the songs which aren't known to the public even if they are good, well, at least, not when I'm just starting. So, I need to choose the songs before YT became popular. Should I just choose the ones even before the internet became popular… Hmm…"

After browsing YT for a while, Jun finally selected a song as his first cover. Instead of starting with a well-known one that all young people like, he went with one of the most popular songs from the 80s, which can sure highlight his high vocal range.

Maybe, it's because the lyrics were quite easy to remember, or maybe, it is because his vocal stat is over 9.5, probably the highest in the entire world at the moment. For whatever reason, Jun remembered the lyrics as well as the composition in just one go. It felt similar to how when he purchases the song from the store, the system will send everything to his brain directly and store it.

This was actually the first time since his debut that Jun had tried to practice some other song. So, he thought that it might take 10-15 minutes for him to master the song. After all, it isn't just lyrics or notes that he needed to be worried about. The timing is more important. Little did he know that every 0.1 improvement from 9 stat will give tremendous results.

Jun was also largely surprised that he could just remember the song like that. He couldn't help but let out a sigh while remembering the past, "Back then, I lied to YG-nim that I have eidetic memory while I only depended on the system's memory function. But now, it turned into reality, at least music-wise."

After muting the lyrical part, Jun played the song where only the instrumental part will be heard.

As the Camcorder is recording his side angle, Jun never once took a glance at it and just started singing at a high pitch while looking ahead after almost 90 seconds of waiting.

"We're leaving together

But still it's farewell

And maybe we'll come back

To earth, who can tell?

I guess there is no one to blame

We're leaving ground (leaving ground)

Will things ever be the same again?"

***

Jun was engrossed in the song. Even though he belongs to Generation Z, the music gave him goose bumps for a moment as he raised his voice to continue.

"It's the final countdown

The final countdown"

Oh-oh

We're heading for Venus and still we stand tall

'Cause maybe they've seen us and welcome us all, yeah

With so many light years to go and things to be found (to be found)

I'm sure that we'll all miss her so

.

.

.

"It's the final countdown (the final countdown)

(Oh) it's the final countdown"

**

He finally turned his head to the camera and bowed. "Thank you."

After stopping the record, he watched it to see if he was unknowingly off-key at any moment or something. But, the performance turned out to be perfect and Jun decided to record a few more songs while changing outfits in between.

All of the popular songs he had chosen were at least more than two decades old like MJ's they don't care about us, Queen's Bohemian Rhapsody, the Beatles' Let it be, and Billy Joel's uptown girl.

Once he was done with the recordings, he stored the camcorder and the tripod back into his inventory and took a seat on the couch to relax for the next hour by watching tv.

At around 1 o'clock in the afternoon, his phone rang. It was his manager.

He lifted the call, "Hyung."

"Jun-ah, what are you doing?" Manager Seon asked.

Jun answered, "Nothing. Just relaxing."

"Had lunch?" asked the manager.

Jun didn't have exactly lunch but his stomach was full anyway. He said that he ate outside.

"Okay, I'll pick you up by 1:30. Freshen up and get ready by that time. We will leave together with the dance crew," said the manager.

"Got it."
