A New Beginning [Part 3]

Despite Austin's inability to move his body and speak, at least, somehow… someway, he understood what his family was saying. Even so, Austin understood the language they spoke was vastly different from English. Yet, instinctively, he somehow still understood what they were saying. It was as if he had always known the language his family had spoken since birth. After a few seconds of thinking, Austin could only attribute it to a gift from old man Ulric.

Meanwhile, Elizabeth chuckled, watching the little black kitten playing with her baby. Internally, she was relieved her baby finally made noise.

Max raised an eyebrow.

"Little Licht was born with a Spirit?" His surprise was evident. Previously, his concern for his daughter and grandson's well-being caused him to overlook the black kitten nestled near his grandson's chest. "As expected of my grandson." He remarked, a wide smile gracing his lips.

"Eyah! Eyah! Eyaaah" Austin… no, Licht cried in protest (Licht?… No way! That can't be my name! Please tell me he's talking about another grandson of his that just so happened to be born on the same day as me.)

Austin's entire body abhorred the name Licht. He was unsure why, but decided to trust his gut feeling.

Elizabeth furrowed her brows."Father, my baby's name will not be Licht. I have already chosen his name and it is final." She replied firmly, her eyes sparkling with joy and tenderness. "His name will be Nyx, Nyx Hujarar Alucard!"

Lightly poking her baby's cheek, she asked, "What do you think, my baby? Do you like the name Nyx?"

"Eyah!" Nyx wailed happily (Nyx? Hmmm, Nyx, Nyx… that sounds better. My mother knows me the best!) He was overjoyed. A name that represented Shadow, Darkness, and the night suited him well. Austin had always been part of the darkness, not the light. The darkness suited him well, though at first, he hated the dark side of the world, but he grew to enjoy it. No… he grew to not be repulsed by the darkness and he understood that not everyone could be part of the light.

Hujarar opened his mouth to protest, but before he could part his lips, a stern glance from his wife silenced him, forcing him to swallow his words.

'I had the perfect name… Hujarar Jr.' He lamented. It seemed he could only wait for another son to be born before he could bestow upon him the great name of Hujarar.

"Nyx? ...As in night?" Vlad stroked his beard, trying to comprehend why his daughter-in-law had a change of heart. Before today, she had been adamant about the name Licht. Each time she spoke of the name Licht, she would have one of the most heartwarming smiles Vlad had ever seen. Each of her smiles would remind him of his wife when she was pregnant with Hujarar and Asmodeus.

After a moment of thought, Vlad concluded her change of heart most likely had something to do with the Heavenly Tribulation.

Elizabeth sensed her father-in-law's confusion but chose not to explain immediately.

Instead, she extended her Soul Sense to cover the entire castle and the surroundings to ensure their privacy. What she was about to explain needed to be kept among her family only.

Observing his wife's strange behavior, Hujarar grew concerned.

Noticing the strange behavior of his wife, Hujarar became worried. Whereas, Vlad and Max understood the reason behind Elizabeth's strange behavior; the newborn wasn't a Faegon. A child born from the union of a Vampyric Dragon and an Elf would not incur the wrath of the Heavens.

Only the birth of a Forbidden Existence could cause Heavenly Punishment.

Well… not entirely… a newly ascended Divine Apostle could, but they knew that was not the case.

After confirming only her husband, father, father-in-law, Nyx, and the little kitten were the only ones in the vicinity, Elizabeth began explaining, proudly cradling Nyx, "Little Nyx should have been born a Faegon because of our union between Elf and Vampyric Dragon. Instead, it seems we were blessed because little Nyx is the first of his Race." Elizabeth explained, while fondly cradling her baby. Her pride was clear for everyone to see. "What you all do not know is during the seven days the world was blanketed in darkness. Little Nyx emitted a gray Energy that I have never heard of or seen before."

Max and Hujarar shouted in unison "A new Element."

Austin… no, Nyx was also shocked by the news before realization set in, his expression quickly turned into fright.

"Waaaaahhh" He cried because of the implications of knowing his father was a Vampyric Dragon.

Everyone quickly turned in the direction of the crying baby.

"Little Nyx, what's wrong are you hungry? Do you want a cheeseburger?" Hujarar asked, worriedly.

Vlad and Max almost choked after hearing what Hujarar said.

Narrowing their eyes, they felt like berating him, but after seeing his innocent eyes, they sighed and shook their heads, understanding it was useless to talk sense into him. It was too late to teach him, he was a lost cause.

Noticing the pity-filled gazes directed at him, Hujarar asked with evident confusion in his voice, "What's wrong?"

"Nothing." Vlad and Max remarked in unison.

Meanwhile, Elizabeth stood up from the bed with her baby in her arms and walked over to a luxurious wooden crib with intricate Dragon designs. The crib exuded elegance and regality, a perfect place for the newlyborn Prince.

With tender care and one final kiss on her baby's cheek, she tucked him and the territorial black kitten, who had stared at her with defiance and worry that she would be taken away.

Nyx quickly controlled his emotions. However, his thoughts were still plagued by the realization that his father was a Vampire and not just any Vampire but a Vampyric Dragon. On Earth, Vampires and Dragons were mere mythological creatures. In this world he knew other Races besides Humans existed, yet that only increased his fear. From what he knew about Vampires, they were bloodthirsty creatures that preyed upon even their children. The tastier the blood, the less self-control they would have. That was why Austin feared for his life, he feared his father would smell his Unique blood and decide to suck him dry.
