40 Chapter 40: Puppet User and Lich

The fallens and monsters attached to the mana string of the man killed the skeletons. The skeletons were only killed if their heads were crushed or if you severed their necks causing the soul fire on their eyes to dissipate

However, when a lot of the skeletons already died, the what it looks like a lich chanted some words. The lich then pointed its staff on the ground and a spell circle appeared on it

From the spell circle came out more skeletons adding to the already numerous enemies the human is facing

The human gritted his teeth and moved his hand more erratically. His monsters move aggressively but after they killed more skeletons, more will be summoned by that lich

Without a choice, the human activated a skill. "[Puppet Style: Enhance!]" The puppet of this human glowed with a blue light as he poured mana inside these puppets' body

The puppets received significant increase in speed and power. However, it caused the human to pant hard and his knees wobbled as if he was exhausted

The lich laughed wickedly and shot a dark light towards the human. Without a choice, the human controlled one of the fallens to block it

The dark light hit the fallen on its left shoulder and turned its arm into ashes. It can still move as it was being controlled by the human but its fighting power lowered

Caizher looked at these two creatures in amazement. The human can control other being using the mana strings while the lich can summon creatures. Caizher can also summon creatures of darkness through his "[Monarch of Dark Creatures]" but he needs to train the summoning part first which is very hard

The fight continued and although the human didn't moved much but he was already kneeling on the ground. The body of his puppet was being destroyed non-stop and it lowered their fighting capabilities

Soon, all of his puppets were destroyed and he looked at the skeletons with despair. At this time, Caizher decided to interfere and he appeared in front of the human

"Yo! Can you talk?" Caizher asked the lich but it only grunts at him. Caizher shook his head in pity. He can see that the lich is more hostile to him that it was to the human though he didn't know why

His original goal is to recruit this lich if it can communicate with him but he don't understand the lich at all. If his mastery on "[Monarch of Dark Creatures]" is high, he can force this lich to be his slave. Too bad that he has a lot of abilities to train but he doesn't have enough time

Without a choice, Caizher decided to help the human and maybe recruit it afterwards. Killing all the monsters in this city is a far dream for Caizher. But to make his future 'base' safer, he wants to recruit the lich as its summoning ability will be a huge help

"Alright, since I can't communicate with you then I need to kill you!" Caizher said and transformed into his three meters high titan form with spikes all over his body. While his sword was literally inside his condensed darkness

Caizher kicked the skeletons and their frail bodies cracked from the impact. He wasn't able to kill them as just like the fallens, he needs to severe their neck or destroy the head. However, he still managed to render the skeletons useless. With destroyed body, even if they are not dead, these skeletons won't be able to move now

The human was shocked at Caizher's transformation but he was even more shock at how powerful the man is. The lich looked panic and chanted some words again to summon more skeletons

However, Caizher hold out his palm and condensed his mana on it while changing its nature and a black ball formed on his hand. Caizher threw the ball and it advanced towards the lich

It was troublesome to kill numerous skeletons and he might as well attack the summoner directly. The lich hold its staff in front of it and a black barrier appeared that it used to defend

The black ball exploded and the barrier was destroyed. To the lich' shock, it was actually pushed back and its arm trembled from the impact

"Wow, quite powerful!" Caizher said in amazement and felt that it was really a pity. If only he can make this lich his subordinate. The lich not only can summon skeletons but it can also use other abilities. It was an enemy that is hard to kill

The lich chanted words again but this time Caizher can feel more mana gathering on the lich's staff. At normal times, he would directly attack to prevent the lich do what it wants but his curiosity won over him. He wants to see what the lich is planning to do

After chanting its spell, the skeleton pointed its staff on the ground. This time, three separate magic circles appeared

From the magic circles, three skeletons wearing different colored robes emerged. One is red, the other is icy blue, and the last one wore a green robe

As soon as they were summon, these skeletons chanted their spells too

The red one made a basketball size ball of fire. The blue one formed sharp ice shards. And lastly, the green one made wind blades

"Woah! Skeleton Mage?!" This world is really becoming more and more fantasy like! All sorts of abilities and creatures emerged and Caizher likes this!

To defend from their attacks, Caizher made multiple balls of black light and after using a lot of mana, he successfully prevented himself from taking any damage

Caizher smirked at how powerful he become. The more time he spent on his cultivation, the stronger he becomes! He is now addicted on both fighting and cultivation that others find a bit boring

With his titan form, Caizher intake a sharp breath and his lungs bulge. The amount of air inside him now is higher than when he was at his human form

He also used up a lot of mana to infuse with the air. Feeling a threat, the skeleton mages and the lich clustered in one place and made a barrier to protect themselves

After successfully infusing the air with mana, Caizher opened his mouth and the dark air advanced towards his enemies. "[Darkness Style: Breath of Death!]"

The normal skeletons on its way was blown away as their soul fires dissipated

The dark winds slammed on the joint barrier of the four and it cracked at the rate visible to the eyes. Caizher put more force on his 'mouth' and the raging breath continuously tried to break the barrier

After a few seconds, the barrier was destroyed and the dark winds hit these skeletons. Their bodies were blown away. The skeletons mages died after some time but the lich offered more resistance

The body of the lich broke down and only left a small black fire was left before Caizher's attack ended. Caizher was about to finish the lich but a voice entered his mind

"E-esteemed demon please wait! This lowly lich surrendered to you!" A voice of woman entered Caizher's mind and he was surprised at this

But he was called a demon even though he was not. Caizher doesn't know what really being the darkness itself means but his [Monarch of Dark Creatures] gave him the ability to rule all dark creatures

From the information, one of the top kind of dark creatures are demons but Caizher doesn't believe that he is a demon. Although the other kinds of dark creatures are still unknown and the only ones he knew were the corrupted ones like his dark snakes and lizardmen and the demon like Shaina. But Caizher is still sure that as he progressed, he would be able to rule over all the dark creatures, not just the demon kind

"How do I make sure that you'll not betray me?" Caizher said on his mind wishing that the lich would be able to hear it. Fortunately, the lich gave him an answer although he can sense the confusion on the lich

"Through the pledge of darkness" the lich replied in almost a "matter of a fact tone"

However, this just made Caizher confuse as he doesn't know what that Pledge of Darkness is. At this time, the archive of knowledge that the eye left him transmitted things on him explaining what it was

Caizher cursed the black eye on his mind as he needs to encounter something like this first before he can access some information

Turns out that the Pledge of Darkness can only be done by the creatures of darkness. They will literally take an oath in the name of darkness and they will never be able to go back in that oath no matter how much they try. It was a powerful binding oath that no creatures of darkness can dispel no matter what they do

"Alright, take an oath now!" Caizher immediately said. He really wants to make this lich his underling

The lich quickly did as what it was told and took an oath on the spot to be Caizher's slaves. The man sensed a connection between him and the lich as if he can do everything he wans to it. Caizher literally had the feeling of having this lich's life on his hand

The soul fire floated towards Caizher as if it wants to pay respects to the man. Seeing the state of the lich, Caizher took a bit of pity on it. Before, the lich is his enemy but now, it is his underling with a complete sentience. It has a bit of position on his 'heart' now

"Why are you in this state?" Caizher asked and the lich immediately gave him a reply. "Master, my real form is a soul fire but I can possessed other bodies as my vessel. The body doesn't matter much as my powers are all in my soul fire. But of course, a stronger body will give me stronger defense and physical power"

Caizher nodded his head and looked around him to see any suitable corpse. As he's still a man of 21st century, Caizher doesn't want to see his underling in a skeleton form

Looking around, Caizher saw a human corpse of a woman. It seems that the human just died as it was still covered with fresh blood

"Go use that body" Caizher said while pointing at the human body. Although the quality wasn't high but it was better than using another skeleton's body

The lich obediently complied and the soul fire floated towards the corpse. The puppet style user on the ground on the other hand didn't dare to move

He saw how powerful Caizher is and didn't try moving without the man's order

The two watched as the black soul fire entered the human corpse and it glowed with a dark light. The 'corpse' started to stand up as changes occurred on her body

The blood and wounds vanished and the corpse returned into its peak condition as if it wasn't dead seconds ago. The lich opened its eyes and its face changed a bit and she turned into quite a beauty

The puppet user stared at the lich with wide eyes and open jaws. Caizher with his 360° vision even saw the human gulping which made him to shake his head

It was visible that the human was attracted to the lich that almost killed him before. The lich then walked towards Caizher and kneeled in front of him. "Master!" The lich greeted and Caizher just waved his hand before returning to his human form

"You may rise" Caizher simply said and the lich stood up again. Caizher then turned his back to look at the man on the ground

"Yo! Do you want to become my subordinate or shall we part ways here?" Since Caizher has the lich now, the value of this puppet user lessened. He doesn't care much whether the man wants to follow him or not anymore

"Human, you better become my master's subordinate, it would be to your own good!" The lich coldly said and the man blushed a bit

Caizher creased his forehead as he can't believe this man's reaction!
