The boy was sitting on the deck of Luffy's ship, which he came to find out was called the Going Merry, but everyone called it Merry for short. As he sat there, the kids looked at him from time to time, whispering to each other.

Nami looked at the kids and smiled as she walked over, asking "Do you want to touch his ears?" the kids looked at Nami and one of them stood up, pointing at the boy, shouting in a tender voice "No! I want him to die! If it wasn't for him, we'd still be on the island!"

Nami froze, while the rest of the crew looked at the kids with varying expressions. Zoro looked bored, Usopp was stunned, Johnny and Yosaku looked at each other, while Luffy just stared at the kids with a flat face.

The boy ignored the kids as another stood up and shouted "You damn half-breed! You killed my mommy!" before throwing an apple at the boy, missing completely. The boy opened his eyes and looked at the kid, making him shiver and fall on his butt. A few other kids stood up and started shouting at the boy, who ignored them until…

One of the kids said "I bet your mommy loved cats! You and your disgusting mommy can both die!" The boy stood up and flickered to the kid who just spoke, grabbing the kid by the neck and holding her up in the air.

The boy's hand shone and looked to be sharper and heavier, just like before as the kid started choking for air. The other kids were frightened and ran away crying, Nami took out her staff and smashed the boy's arm with it, breaking her baton over it as she said "Let her go!"

The boy looked at Nami before saying "You're gonna stop me?" Nami held the end of her baton and pointed the sharp part at him, replying "I said put her down. Now." Zoro grabbed his swords, but Luffy put an arm out, stopping him as he looked at the boy silently.

Zoro looked at Luffy before letting go of his swords and looking at the boy, while Usopp was uncharacteristically quiet.

The boy looked at Nami in the eyes before looking at the girl, who was now crying and gasping for air, clawing at the boy's hand. The boy tilted his head and dropped the girl to the ground, saying "Speak of my mother again and I'll kill you." before kicking her to the rest of the kids and walking back to his corner.

The crew watched the boy and Zoro looked at Luffy, who smirked and winked at him before walking over to the boy. Nami watched the boy sit down before going to the girl and tending to her wounds, the other kids felt safer and began to whisper insults directed towards the boy.

Nami listened to them and kept silent, after she bandaged the girl, she asked "Are you okay?" the little girl coughed and said hatefully "Why didn't you kill him! He's just a slave!" Nami didn't have a response and just stood up before walking away.

Zoro looked at the kids and chuckled before shaking his head and walking away, saying "I need booze." Usopp tended to his inventions, staying silent, while Luffy crouched in front of the boy and grinned "I knew you were a strong guy!"

The boy stayed silent and Luffy continued "Oh yeah! I forgot! My name is Luffy! What's yours?" The boy looked at him and said "Don't have one." Luffy rubbed his chin before punching his palm and laughing "I got it!" he pointed to the boy's shorts and said "Thirteen!"

The boy looked at his shorts and there was a '13' on his shorts. Luffy chuckled and said "Your name is Thirteen now, okay?" The boy shrugged and Luffy grinned before babbling on about nothing special, saying about how they were going to a restaurant when they were attacked by the black ship.

The boy, no, Thirteen listened to Luffy as the ship continued sailing towards its destination. All the while Thirteen ignored the comments of the kids, as did the rest of the crew. Treating them as if they were air.
