Chapter 19: into the unknown

after everyone had rested, Sir james the man in blue armor who acted like the leader and lead at the front of the group as they decided to explore further.

hearing the title Sir made max think of Sir alex the veteran guard who had betrayed lady ai sayama and somehow came back to life after max killed him, he wondered how he was doing.

max did not know if he would see him again in the future, he decided to put his useless thoughts aside and focus on making it through this alive.

No one really cared that Sir james acted as the group leader by himself, in fact more people were glad that someone else took up the burden.

everyone including max saw being the leader as a burden and a thankless job, everyone could hardly take care of themselves why would they trouble themselves with taking care of unrelated people.

being the leader also meant that you had to lead at the front and everyone who had brains knew that leading at the front was the most dangerous.

after resting well, Sir james lead at the front of the group.

looking at the surrounding space max noticed that there were in a clearing and around them were big tall trees that reached into the sky, there were many strange looking flowers with different colors. it all looked very peaceful, but their could not relax they guard.

leading at the front Sir james had two swords floating by his side, the swords were both blue and had a red handle, the swords did not look ordinary they floated above him.

the two swords were floating above his shoulder with on on each side, max was not sure if Sir james had an ability like telekinesis that allowed for him to make them float or if the swords were enchanted.

he had a sword swinging and clearing the trees and brunches in front as he lead the group.

suddenly max saw a brown shadow flash through the trees, every one slowed down not sure what to expect but nothing happened,

the group started to walk further into the forest again,

after a few minutes of walking they saw more brown shadows flash by, everyone started to get tense as they did not know what the shadows were and the shadows had increased from one to three, they all stopped and looked into the trees prepared for an attack but nothing happened.

after a few minutes of being on guard they slightly relaxed a bit but still were guarded and continued walking.

this time they did not see any shadows flash by and it seemed as if there was nothing of danger.

the group walked for another 30 minutes then decided to rest after all they had been tense and on guard for almost an hour now.

Sir james asked everyone to clear the surrounding trees, after this everyone was about to set up camp as the trees had been quickly cleared when a panicked shout was heard.

" shit lena is gone!!!" every one looked at a man who had a rough temperament confused

" what do you mean? " Sir james asked

" she is gone, what else can i mean, she slowed down and went to the back of the group now she is gone " the rough looking man said looking very anxious.

Sir james quickly asked every one to count how many people we had with us now, after counting every one was shocked.

there were only had 175 people left,

after the zone walker retreated they had 190 people remaining from 300 and they made their way into the forest with the remaining 190 people but somehow there were only 175 people left after counting.

everyone was scared, no one knew what had happened.

there were no one who left the group, if they wanted to leave they would inform everyone before leaving and there had been no fights or loud noises of struggle, the whole walk was quiet.

so how had 15 people disappeared silently and no one in the group even noticed, everyone had chills running through their spines.

"fuck, fuck, fuck, fuck.... we are so fucked" a youth started to curse nervously

" do you know how fucked we are " he laughed, it seemed the tension and fear had gotten to him, max couldn't blame him even though he thought he was acting like a little bitch, but after all if you had not been inside a new unexplored door before you would not know how truly frightening it was.

everyone knew it was dangerous which is why those who made it back from the first wave of exploration were greatly respected but everyone just thought about the glory and honor and did not really think about how scary this door was.

" where the fuck is the treasure huh ? where the hell is my glory, what's the point we are all gonna die, we are so fucked " he started to laugh nervously.

" calm down zack, just calm down" his friends quickly tried to calm him down, they did not want to see him break down and try to run away like a coward as he would be killed by the people around him before he died to the door and his family would be implicated too.

with the persuasion of his friends the youth eventually calmed down but Sir james did not look pleased at his behavior, max could see that he just wanted to slaughter the boy.

" what a wimp " sophie scoffed.

the rest of the group said nothing.

" every one stick together " said henry " we will come out of this alive and stronger than before ".

max and the others just nodded but max wasn't convinced by this, he could understand the youth who had a minor breakdown before maybe as he said, they were really fucked.

Sir james let everyone set up camp first and set up defenses first before they could speak about this further.

after setting up camp everyone started to set up defenses and traps, people who had abilities that could play in the defense started to use their abilities to help.

Henry let out his red crystal stars and set them around the camp and red mist waves spread out from them, apparently the mist had a function that would allow them to trip and set off, exploding if anything moved in the area 200 cm around the stars.

some had weird abilities and set up defenses but max had no clue what they did, like one girl who grew flowers around the camp for defense.

max was dumbfounded flowers ? fucking flowers, honestly what were flowers gonna do in defending the camp ?

max really wanted to ask her if she had something wrong with her brain, he didn't know if he would die because people in his group were too stupid.

after the defenses were set up every one sat around a fire in the middle of the camp.

" so what should we do ? " Sir james asked the group, we all had to come up with a plan that would increase our chances of survival, we couldn't just wonder about headless anymore.

( this is a chapter but not really, when I'm not updating a chapter i will always upload a semi chapter so not to leave you without anything, the semi chapters will be short like 500 words but i ended up doing 1000 words, 500 more than planned but that is all for today, as i said no chapter as im resting, this is my resting chapter, i hope you like it as i will upload 7 days a week including no chapters like this which are resting chapters if that makes sense )
