The taste of metallic blood lingered in Acceber's mouth, but the man did not stop kissing her. The aggressive attacks became passionate till they slowed down as if savoring the flavor of the moment. Heavy breathing could be heard, emphasizing the closeness between the two.
Acceber's racing heart, no matter how angry she was, cooled down. The smell of mint and vanilla became more assertive, as if it were coming from the person before her. "Do you want to die? I can send you to hell today and save other people from becoming your victim."
The man chuckled as he bent down and traced kisses on Acceber's jaw to her neck. "I'll see you soon, Mate. Wait for me."
The sound of a cold bracelet being locked in a few clicks on Acceber's wrist made her realize that everything she experienced tonight wasn't an illusion as the man vanished. She couldn't believe that such speed symbolized an ordinary human. Yet she hoped she wouldn't see him again in the future.
'He should be something else! I hope it's not a lab rat who escaped from an illegal laboratory. But it's odd that he came here for me. I did feel agitated when a complete stranger touched me in places that concerns my privacy. But what's more abnormal is that I did not feel disgust nor hate towards him.'
Instead of going home, Acceber decided to go to the warehouse where the weapons were delivered. She wanted to stay for a day or two before leaving City M, but the unexpected encounter made her think that she was getting sick in the head.
When she went inside the warehouse, she saw things she had always dreamed of owning in her previous life. Artillery, biological weaponry, chemical weaponry, combat weapons, ranged weapons, hand-to-hand combat weapons, explosives, bombs, explosive substances, and firearms ranging from manual, semiautomatic, and automatic were lined neatly.
She felt very excited. She also got her hands on four mine-resistant ambush-protected vehicles, three amphibious assault vehicles, two armored medical vehicles, two combat engineering vehicles, and seven Ranger II armored multi-purpose vehicles.
'Money was everything to survive. I should hurry back to City A and sell my assets, my money's running low day by day and I still have seven months more to prepare. I also need to check the house at the Imperial Capital, it's best to equip it with power generators and solar panels.'
With a wave of her hand, the warehouse became empty. She walked out of the building and stared at the starless sky.
'Seven months ain't that long before the world changes into hell. Several power interruptions and droughts would occur first. Then animals would slowly get infected by flu and die. The supply of food would diminish and won't be enough for human consumption. Till a night where a meteor shower and a heavy storm would fall at the same time.'
Acceber remembered that her brother went out with his little white flower girlfriend to celebrate Christmas together. 'Mother was so angry and worried that my brother was out and a storm was hitting the city. The next day, brother brought home a woman full of marks and an unusual sensual aura. And father even got furious that he brought home someone in a disheveled manner.'
Acceber got inside her car, trying to remember the name of that little white flower, but she couldn't. 'It doesn't matter much if I can't remember. I'll be sure to save my parents from her hands on time and take her down, too! She needs to be punished for her crimes of pushing women to die for her.'
The car rushed to the airport.
- City M, Hunter's Night Bar -
The loud blaring of music filled the corridors. Men and women dressed in black gathered in the middle of the dance floor. A man with a handsome face and long blonde hair stood on the stage with a worried face. He was waiting for a call on his phone, but he received nothing tonight.
"Second master, the eldest master is a man with great strength. He won't fall in danger just because he went out alone. You need to trust in his abilities more."
"Lucas, as the next Beta of the pack, what kind of punishment should the family give you if something happens to my brother? You let him wander the city without guards just because you saw a pitiful woman begging to save you? Has your brain been flooded with muriatic acid?" Marcus shouted at the top of his lungs.
"Second master, any person in need of help on the road, I won't hesitate to help!"
Marcus lost all patience when Lucas decided to defend his wrongs. "Someone tie him up! A traitor helped a woman and left his post without bidding goodbye to his superior! He not only endangered the next Alpha, but also brought an insignificant person without injuries in our satellite base!"
The pack warriors moved in an orderly manner and prevented Lucas from escaping. Marcus redialed his brother's phone number, but his call could no longer reach the other side.
"Lucas, you son of a bitch! Don't forget that your mate is my cousin, but you want to prioritize another woman here! I don't care who that woman is, Elena, take a picture of that woman and post it on the pack's list of banned visitors. Beware, she might be a witch or something. Do not let men see her, or they would fall in hypnosis!"
Marcus had seen how dutiful and responsible Lucas was as the next Beta. He also saw how attentive he was to his cousin, Adriana, Lucas's destined mate. No matter what kind of trouble, it would be impossible for Lucas to abandon the Alpha's family. But today, he looked as if he was not sober.
Lucas brought a woman on the base alone. He let the crying woman cling to him as if her life depended on Lucas. And as if a miracle had occurred, Lucas let another woman, aside from his mate, touch him.
This made Marcus doubt what happened. When Marcus asked who the woman was, Lucas was unsure of her identity. Marcus let some medical practitioners check the woman and separated Lucas from her. When the unidentified woman's vital signs were normal, Lucas still wanted to comfort her, which triggered alarm warnings in Marcus's head.
Helping with a clear conscience is different from helping with hidden intentions.
