21 Choosing Pokemon!

The days trickled down as time passed by, Roy's family normally operated as a family should. Royce wanted to take out a loan for Diana in order to purchase her a Spatial Backpack. However, Diane wanted to wait before making such rash decisions.

Roy and Troy were already promised such things, so he didn't have to buy them one. The day finally came for them to meet with people of the Pokemon Alliance. This was to receive their rewards because of their placement in the tournament.

Roy woke up early for this particular day because he was too excited. His journey was finally going to begin after fifteen years of waiting. Yes, Roy and his siblings, by this point had already turned fifteen, which was 2 months ago.

Roy went to take a shower and clean up before putting on some moisturizer. He always had to keep up with his skin, this was important to him. Right then, his sister had gotten up and was about to get in the shower as well.

Roy's mom got up early today, she knew this was a special day for his children. She immediately began preparing breakfast for them.

"Alright, I just need to wear something simple. Once I get that storage Backpack, I can come home and load up some clothes." Roy also wanted to drop by the Pokemart and buy some useful things when he was out in the wild.

Roy threw on some black shorts and a blue t-shirt before heading to the kitchen to eat breakfast.

"Today is the big day, you guys will finally be handed your rewards, haha!" Royce was sitting at the table when Roy walked in. After speaking, he stuffed his mouth with some scrambled eggs.

"I can't wait, I wonder what the options will be?" Roy took a seat and held his chin. He knew for sure that the top three could pick among the Royal starters, but he was unsure about everyone else.

"Just assume that they will give you the option of choosing from Kanto and Johto regional pokemon." Diane believed that this would the main option, no, that would be the only option.

They would not give out pokemon from regions such as Sinnoh and Hoenn.

Roy nodded, this made sense; since Kanto and Johto pokemon were the only ones featured in the tournament. Roy's father had a day off of work today because he called in two days ago.

Once everyone was done eating breakfast, they prepared themselves to leave at 11:30 Am. Roy was already prepared, he just needed to brush his teeth.

Roy was just thinking about the so-called Quest System, it was supposedly going to boot up the minute his journey began.

Eleven-thirty was nothing and it came quickly.

Roy and his family left the house and drove to the destination the letter spoke about. It was a place that the Pokemon Alliance was renting out for a day. The building wasn't large and was just a simple warehouse.

There appeared to be several men and women around the place with serious and cautious expressions. The people stood outside, while some could be seen inside of the warehouse.

"Hold it right there!" Right as Roy and his family were about to enter the warehouse, they were stopped.

"I need to see your invitation letter to confirm your identity." This man wore all black, with five Poke balls strapped around his waist. To have the ability to raise so many pokemon, this man's skills as a trainer wasn't simple.

The amount of wealth required to raise healthy strong pokemon was astronomical.

"Ah, right, here's my letter." Roy took out his letter and so did his siblings. These letters had their pictures, their ranking, Etc.

Looking at the letter, the man was stunned. This was because of placement, and that's when the man smiled.

"Right that way, you can sit in the lobby with the other trainers until you're called. Sit in the chair that corresponds with your ranking, he'll guide you to the waiting area." The man pointed to the man standing near the entrance and said.

"I'll guide you three, follow me. As for your parent, they can wait in the car until you guys are done." The man spoke lazily before turning and walking away.

Roy, Troy, and Diana quickly followed behind the man and entered the warehouse. After about a minute of walking, they came to the waiting room. There were already others from the tournament waiting inside.

Once Roy and his siblings opened the door, everyone turned their heads to them. Roy recognized some faces, particularly the people he fought against.

Roy spotted Luke, Ripley, and Darius. Darius was the one who came in 1st place, he was also one of the contestants that went to his school.

"There you go, you can sit in the seat of your placement. There are some vacant seats, so sit in your assigned chair." Afterward, the man turned around and left the room.

Roy came over and sat in the seat with the number five on it. He honestly didn't understand the point of all of this, but he didn't care to find out.

"Hmph!" Roy sat next to Ripley, who snorted coldly when he took a seat.

"...." Roy remained silent.

"Where are you going to once you get your first pokemon? Are you going straight to Violet City right away?" Ripley asked curiously.

"No, not right away." Roy shook his head. Didn't she just show an attitude, why is she acting friendly now?

He didn't need to rush to Violet City, but he was certain that many trainers here would rush there either tomorrow or today.

"Then where?" Ripley continued to pursue an answer.

"Why? What's it to you?" Roy frowned and said.

"I just wanted to know, why is that a bad thing?" Ripley scoffed, but she understood that it did seem weird to ask someone this.

"I don't know, exactly, I just know that it won't be to Violet City so soon." Roy was going to the strange island first to collect some pokemon. Of course, he would need to stock up on a decent amount of Poke balls today by going to the Pokemart.

"Ah, you're going to explore a bit by catching some pokemon first. At least, that's the likewise thing to do." Ripley somewhat concluded; this was just a wild guess.

Before Roy could reply, a man came out of the room. He wore a blue and black suit and greased-back black hair. He had an inconspicuous smirk across his face as he eyed the young contestants.

"I'll start with the contestants from one to five, please follow me." The man turned to the first five seats and said.

Roy and everyone else followed behind the man. Troy gazed at Roy and nodded before trailing behind Darius. Roy did the same when he turned to Diana and nodded her way.

"First things first, I'll need to take a photo of you for your Identification. We can have them ready for the five of you in thirty minutes." This was to construct their license, which would serve as some sort of record during their travels.

This also meant that it could be used to store money like a credit card, merit points, and so forth. The first place holder went up first to take his picture, and everyone else soon followed in his place afterward.

"Alright, while your licenses are being constructed, it is time for you all to select your first pokemon."

A woman entered the room, she called the first three people over first. She took them to a secluded area in the warehouse where they stored the Poke balls.

Roy waited, he was standing here with another contestant, it was a boy named Jayce. Jayce said nothing and remained silent the whole time. Roy didn't try and strike up a conversation, he would rather travel on his journey alone.

Within ten minutes, Troy, Adara, and Darius returned with wide and satisfied smiles across their faces. Roy had started to ask what Troy had chosen, but he would find out later when they left.

The three of them were soon taken to another area by a man, this was for them to collect their other rewards—items.

"Alright, you two are next, please follow me." The woman smiled and turned to leave. Roy and Jayce naturally followed her.

They were taken to a small and quiet area within the warehouse.

"Here's a list of pokemon you can choose from. The other contestants were taken to another room before. They chose to pick among the Royal starters, so that's where they went instead of here."

The woman didn't hide it, since everyone knew this anyway.

"Since you're number five, please wait over there until he's done picking his pokemon." The woman turned to Roy before pointing elsewhere.

"Okay." Roy went to the location and simply waited. Jayce was given the list of pokemon he could choose from, and his wooden face revealed shock.

After browsing the list for a bit, Jayce seemed to have made his decision. After speaking to the woman about something, he was guided away by a man.

The woman waved him over with a smile. Roy quickly walked over, he knew it was his turn to pick his pokemon.

"Here's the list, please choose wisely. There are pokemon on the back as well, so don't forget about them." After which, she took a step back and waited.

Roy checked the list and was stunned. He was right, he could choose between Johto and Kanto region pokemon.

-Elekid, Magby, Geodude, Zubat, Pidgey, Hoot-Hoot, Meowth, Teddiursa, Eevee, Pikachu, Porygon, Rattata, Onix, Gastly, Smoochum...

The list went on and on. The list basically contained every baby pokemon except some stronger baby types, pseudo legends, and as is pokemon. This meant Scyther, Dratini, Larvitar, Miltank, Lapras, Tauros, etc.

There was even a number next to each pokemon, which displayed the quantity of the pokemon in stock.

After thinking for a bit, Roy made his decision. Roy wanted to use nothing but Johto region pokemon for the Johto region, so that's what he was going to do. If a pokemon evolved into a Johto region pokemon that may have started out as a Kanto pokemon, it was okay to use.

Roy wanted to have the full experience of each region by using their pokemon strictly. This was of course until he became the champion of those regions. When that came about, he would use his previous regional teams for variety by mixing them sometime.

After confirming what pokemon he wanted, Roy was taken to another room. He was taken to an enormous room with Poke balls lined up perfectly. The sheer number of Poke balls was shocking enough.

The pokemon Roy wanted was limited, with only two in stock.

"I'll show you both of the same pokemon you want, please choose between them." The man was brought two Poke balls before releasing both of the same pokemon for Roy.
