Chapter 8: Delia Ketchum [1]

[Ding! Congratulations, host, on taking your first step to becoming the strongest and most powerful cult leader.]

[To celebrate, you have acquired a skill.]

[Pokémon Status Scanner.]

[Description: You can see the level and basic information of all the Pokémon you scan.]

"Damn, system! You're really generous," I said as I accepted the skill and headed back home.

"Oh yeah, how about I test this skill on my new Pokémon?" I muttered with a smile as I stopped in my tracks and headed to the left where there was an empty corner.

As I reached there, I took out Bagon's Pokéball and threw it lightly, beams of light appearing and converting into a Bagon who shouted aggressively.

"Yo, Bagon!" I greeted him with a smile as he looked at me.

"Ba-ba-bagon!" He responded to the greeting.

'Pokémon Status Scanner,' I thought, the name of the new skill in my head, as a purple hologram appeared in front of my face showing Bagon's status.

"Damn, Bagon's really something, huh? And he's already level 10? Haha, that just makes my work easy. Now if I just level him up to 30, he'll evolve. It will increase our bond too. I should be able to evolve him in Pewter City or Cerulean City," I muttered as I looked at Bagon, who gazed back with a confused face since he couldn't see the status screen like I could.

"Oh, and I should book a reservation at a restaurant. I'll take my mom on a date now," I muttered with a smirk as I called back the confused Bagon into his Pokéball.

---

After booking a reservation online, I headed straight back home to call my mother and arrange our date.

The reason? Well, since it seems I have to leave for my journey now and I can't leave my mom alone with that creepy motherfucker targeting her, my goal is to get her before I head out on my journey.

...

After walking for some time, I finally reached home but didn't waste any time there and headed straight to my room where Daisy was.

"Daisy, it seems we have to delay our journey for one more day," I said with a small smile as I faced her, looking confused about the sudden change of plans.

"Why?" she asked.

"I need to be here today for something very important. I'd appreciate it if you could understand and meet up tomorrow morning at 7 am to start our journey," I said with a small smile on my face as she pouted.

"Humph," she huffed and left, but before she could go, I grabbed her hand and pulled her into an embrace, kissing her cheek.

"Now, now! Don't be so upset. I really have work to do here before starting our journey," I said with a small laugh as she nodded and kissed me on the lips before heading outside.

As she left the house, the lovely-dovey expression faded from my face as I sat on the bed.

"Ah, now I just gotta wait for the time to hit 3:00 PM and then convince my mother to go on a date with me," I muttered before lying down.

"Since I don't have anything to do for now, I should continue the sleep that I left this morning," I muttered before closing my eyes to sleep for the next four hours...

---

[Four Hours Later]

As I woke up from my deep sleep, I quickly freshened up and then took out a full black suit with a white tie and put it on.

After dressing, I headed downstairs and looked for my mother.

"Hm, she isn't in the kitchen nor the living room. So, where is she? Is she in the backyard?" I thought before heading outside, to the backyard.

As I reached the backyard, I saw my mother humming while watering the flowers with a smile on her face. As I approached, she noticed me and looked at me with surprise.

"Ash, weren't you supposed to start your journey today? Why didn't you leave today, and what's the special occasion that you're so dressed up for?" she asked with a smile, curious.

"We don't get to spend much time together these days, and besides, I wanted to spend some time together before going on my journey. So, I was thinking if we could go on a date tonight? You know, just the two of us," I said with a small smile.

"A dinner date? With me?" Delia paused, a bit taken aback.

"Plus, I've got a reservation at that new place in town," I added.

Delia set down her watering can, a soft smile forming on her lips. "That sounds lovely, Ash. Okay, then, wait for me while I get dressed."

After saying that, she headed inside to get ready.

---

[15 minutes later]

After 15 minutes, my mother, Delia Ketchum, came outside to the gate wearing a long, black sleeveless dress with pretty earrings and a white cross necklace.

"How do I look, Ash?" she asked with a smile.

"You look stunningly beautiful, Mo— no, I mean, Delia!" I complimented her, using her name, which surprised her briefly, but she let it go since it was a date night.

"Shall we go now?" I suggested with a smile.

"Yes," she said, and as we started to walk, I closed the distance between us, holding her hand, which shook her a little but she allowed it.

---

After some time walking, we finally arrived at the restaurant where I had made a reservation.

"This is the restaurant I wanted to take you to, where I made the reservation," I said as she nodded before we walked inside, still holding hands.
